I just got some of the ME2 DLC for my pc that I had missed out on
before. When last I played, therewas only Zaeed and Normandy Crash
Site. So, it has been two hard drives and one OS upgrade later and
I have managed to keep my partitions intact, including all the data.
When
I try to run he DLC .exe files, I get an error message saying, "Shadow
Broker requires Mass Effect 2 to be installed first. Please install
Mass Effect 2 and try again."
It is installed. I can run it from the
desktop shortcut and the .exe icon in the install folder. I was running
around on the Normandy, checking to see if Zaeed was still in his
compartment (which he was).
So, what gives? Is there a way around this or a trick or something? Do I have
to re-install? If I reinstall, will that screw up my save files? No way
in hell I want to start all over. I'm just trying to get the DLC done
before I start ME3.

Sorry, it never happened to me. Hardly anyone came back after the last off-season, so the forum membership cannot be a lot of help; there's hardly anyone coming through with much in the way of recent experience. You didn't say whether Kloreep's summary of FAQs was any help, nor what you learned when you ran a search for pertinent Archives.
For the latter, ignore the forum's own Finder, and choose Bing, Google, or Yahoo, then add redirection to the search criteria:

P. S. What did you learn via the Chatline with EA Help?
