Do Vanguards annoy anyone else? [Edit: What they should and shouldn't do]

I don't mean to go on a rage against other players, but once you get to gold and silver challenges, does anyone else get annoyed with vanguards? So far I have only played with one or two vanguards that were actually effective, but for the most part, as the waves progress, in my games, vanguards just seem to become a liability due to their inability to deal solid damage to shields/armor, and I have spent a fair amount of time on round 'eleven' having to chase down a fallen vanguard who has run off from the group to try and melee a couple more enemies.

So mostly I just want to ask, does anyone else get really annoyed at some of these vanguard players?

Edit:

Re:reading my first post, I realize that I make it seem like I just hate vanguards. I am sorry I have sounded that way, I don't hate the class, I just don't like some of the players that can't play the class effectively.

What I really would like this forum to be is to perhaps discuss ways to make Vanguards better/discuss tactics that they SHOULD or SHOULD NOT be using.

Vanguards receive a lot of hate due to their playstyle.

I will say that only the bad players are the ones you have to constantly pick up off the floor, but the Vanguard requires a bit more skill and patience(as in don't charge the first thing that shows up on the map) than the other classes to not die all the time.

I really don't feel like their overall playstyle fits that great for a co-op team, but they had to be included because every other SP class did. They can find uses here and there.

The constant screams is what annoys me. I don't tend to chase them down if they are on the other side of the map.

Nova does very solid damage to Barriers, Shields, and Armor. My issue with Vanguards are twofold. The lesser of the two is that Nova is a notorious screen shaker, for a decently far distance away it can screw up headshots for others. More pressing is the fact that the slightest hiccup in connection can lead to a dead Vanguard when they can't get their Charge off immediately.

Vanguards normally charge off around the map and die which is annoying as hell.

I personally think they should be staying around their team mates (Wherever they are defending) protecting them and distracting enemies when they get close. Obviously their points will be low, but charge and nova can knock back enemies which get too close, like Geth Hunters, and allow your team mates to deal with things further away. Then if they do die, they're also able to be revived.

I play Vanguard

I know when to back down and stick with my teammates though.

The biggest mistake random Vanguards make is running off where the team can't help them in any way. All you really need to do is stick in line of sigh of your teammates and you'll be fine.

The only thing that annoys me about Vanguards is when they get in over their head and die halfway across the map from the rest of the team.

I have no problem with charging vanguards, but shockwave spam accounts for like 90% of my missed headshots.

God****ingdamnit the screen shaking is annoying.

=D

Vanguards are very powerful if played correctly, the problem is, it's very difficult to do so and it's always risky. I like the class but they weren't working right in ME2 and they still don't in ME3.

I completed ME2 on insanity as Vanguard. And from what I've experienced in ME3 singleplayer they are an unstoppable force -if played right.

Only human vanguards. Others are okay, they don't have nova. But human vanguards frequently steal my biotic kills.

Yeah I play Vanguard aswell. I'll admit I make stupid mistakes like that sometimes when it gets intense and I get excited haha
But aside from that I'm good at keeping an eye on my team mates.

I'm not saying all vanguards are like horrible, I'm just saying that a majority of them seem to prefer to run off rather then stick near their teammates and play defender... I'm just trying to get everyone's honest opinions and try to find some vanguards that will give me hope for other vanguards.

And I don't think getting the '50 assists in one game' token is really enough compensation for almost killing something, and then a vanguard suddenly teleporting in (charging) and taking the kill at the last second. I just wanted to point that part out, though I'm not particularly lashing out at vanguards with that comment.

Played with a vanguard today on silver. He was hosting and around level 12. He must have died about 8 times in the first 2 waves. Halfway through wave 3 he died on the other side of the map away from the objective. He quit the game at that point bringing the game to a halt.

Disclaimer: I'm not saying all vanguards are like this but I've played with very few good ones.

Vanguards are far from the only ones that do anything wrong in a game, don't get me wrong. I'm just trying to say that when I normally have a big problem in a game, it tends to be an immature vanguard running around getting him/herself killed. I know my fair share of infiltrators that rely on their tactical cloaks the wrong way, engineers that can't use the right powers on shielded/armored enemies, soldiers that don't know how to use guns, adepts that use stasis at the wrong time and just annoy everyone (that's another problem btw, I don't like stasis most of the time), and sentinels that don't think they should try and take some more damage.

Well most vanguards (from what I see) just love rushing the enemy group and getting themselves killed. I LoL everytime they rush and end up dead because there are like 4 phantoms and 2 atlases in the group lol.
However I've seen a couple of vanguards that do know how to play and have saved the group from getting pwned or even me when I get cornered by phantoms (gosh I hate phantoms :| )
I think it's a matter of knowing how to play the class and knowing when to charge at the enemy group.

Vanguard is the team body guard. If you have the highest score on your team as a Vanguard you are on a ****ty team (or playing silver/bronze). The problem is most don't play this way.

The lag issue and charge bugs are a real problem though.

I've just started playing a Novaguard and I'm really enjoying it! I don't die all that often and it's incredibly fun to jet into a trash mob and nova them all to death before rushing back to cover. Could you "good" Vanguards give me some basic tips so that I can avoid being a dickbag to play with?
