I'm more curious on getting 50% barriers v.s. 25% recharge speed

You don't need recharge, at that point its going to be around 3 seconds. Enough for a charge and a roll, which means immunity until the next charge.

50% more barrier syncs incredibly well with Nova and it's 40% barrier burn. Allowing you to charge and spam. If you didn't have those two passives your charge combo would be even more volatile than it already is. Right now there's always going to be a chance of death because of lag, buggy mobs, or because you couldn't target.

It depends.

I've played with some pretty decent vanguards. Granted, I get a little peeved when they get the "75 kills" medal at the end of the match, but I don't whine too much b/c they were solid teammates who helped everyone out, PURSUED OBJECTIVES, drew fire, and revived when necessary.

Then, there are those who do NOTHING but spam biotic charge (then often nova) in a blatant attempt to get ALL the kills.

I trap my enemy in a singularity, waiting the 2 seconds to detonate it with warp, when, from across the FREAKIN' map, a biotic charge finishes him off and takes my kill.

What? Were you trying to save me? Dude was being levitated in mid-air? Was I REALLY in danger?

I was playing a Drell vanguard last night, mostly sniping. However, when our position got overwhelmed, I went into classic vanguard mode, charging and roundhousing anythign stupid enough to get close. When the threat was over, I went back to my sniping job. I didn't BCKS (biotic charge kill steal) at all. If a teammate had a bead on someone, I let them finish them off, even though I was ONE Mantis shot or Y button press away from taking their glory.

This is a TEAM mode. Live it. Love it. Or get the **** out.

I've only played a few rounds but each time I've played with a Vanguard I can expect one thing. A S* ton of assists.

They'll sit back as I pound away at a target and just as I'm about to kill him, in charges the Jerk of a team mate and swipes my kill away with his Biotic Charge. Hopefully I can find a way or they'll put filters in so I can cut this player out of further games. That or i'll just play private games with friends.

I just hate wasting ammo so Bio boy there can just sweep in without breaking a sweat.

This post is about as dumb as the bad Vanguard players.

Generally, when conducting a civil arguement, one has an arguement.  Whats yours?  I'm willing and open to change my mind as I;m still rather fresh in this game but calling my post dumb isn't a very progressive way of conducting yourself.

Perhaps a suggested arguement is why you think my post is dumb?

On bronze a half decent player quickly figures out trashmobs are basically free candy and even some of the heavy hitters (like centurions or marauders) are really easy once you get your timing down pat.

The problem as a vanguard is that the learning curve going into Silver difficulty isn't so much a curve as a brick wall. For starters, only new vanguards take anything more than a mid-weight shotgun, The Eviscerator feels like a good choice so far.

Vanguard players really do need to stick with the team and learn to use Charge and Nova as interrupt attacks on higher difficulty levels.

What I find annoying is that if there is a vanguard in my match I swear all I get are assists. It can get pretty annoying when some guy comes out of no where and takes the kill. Of course, i'm level 16 salarian engineer and have only played on bronze so far. But I have also noticed that Vanguard is the class EVERYONE and their mother plays. It's really annoying. Most of them aren't very good either. But there are people like that for every class.

Any suggestions?

Honestly? No such thing really, but again, I do nothing but charge, melee, and the occassional shot. BUT! Hunters and Pyros? You can solo them. Then watch all the lil snipers cringe because they have to run away.

My best solo of that caliber I can recall was 2 pyros, a scrub, and a banshee. Bronze I think, might have been silver but I doubt it.

I really laugh at this because anyone can solo Hunters and Pyros..Especially snipers..

Most Vangaurds I play with on public are annoying. They carry around way too weight and can't use their powers enough and yet for some reason they think they can randomly charge off way the hell on the other side of the map, solo, to fight a banshee and two brutes with their heavy and slow shotty with no way to charge back out of their because of their heavy and slow shotty... WTF...

I play Vangaurd and all I use a damn pistol with a melee damage bonus. CHARGE. CHARGE. CHARGE. Lookie, I still have full sheilds.

I usually play Adepts too so used to be annoyed by Vanguards also until I realized that that Bioware made the multiplayer like a MMO & RPG in that

ALL EXPERIENCE & CREDITS PER MISSION IS SHARED AT THE END OF THE MISSION --WE ALL GET THE SAME CREDITS & EXPERIENCE POINTS at end of mission... so if others rack up 100+ kills while I only get assists, it doesn't matter, we all get the same experience total experiences points of everyone on the team added up

so it's alll good --other players can get the kills but you still get all the experience points they get too !

Once you realize that, you can relax, enjoy the game without having to worry about getting the most kills on the leaderboards --it's NOT like CoD where only your own kills count --EVERYONE'S experience/kills/assists are added to  the SQUAD experience points & EVERYONE GETS THE TOTAL SQUAD EXPERIENCE POINTS :)

My point is not likeing vangaurds is i actually like doing something, not just sitting there and let the Vanguard practically teleport across the map for every kill.

I don't care about them "stealing" kills. It is a TEAM effort and all the experience is shared at the end. The quicker the mobs go down the better in my opinion.

The problem i do have with Vanguards though is very few of them are team players, i come across way too many who only seem to care about getting the highest score and nothing else.

- I rarely see a Vanguard help with objectives.
- Most Vanguards appear to not know where the revive a fallen squad member button is.
- They die a lot, usually at the other end of the map surrounded by enemies.
- More often than not they fail to make it back to the extraction point in time because they are too busy scoring some extra points on the other side of the map or dying although this matters less if everyone is level 20 already.

I must stress that i have had the pleasure of playing with some very talented Vanguards who do work with the group and when played well they are a real asset.

THIS ^

My Vangaurd also does play really well with others. If a sentinel sheild strips with overload, then boom, I can charge kill it. If an adept tosses singularity or stasis then BIG BOOM with biotic explosion with a biotic charge. The quicker you can get the enemies off of the map, the safer everyone is. Especially when you have something like mulitple brutes and a banshe stalking your map.

i play a lot of Vanguard, and It annoys me that everyone hates me when I carry noobie players through entire games of bronze. i dont mean to be arrogant but the vanguard's AOE ability just makes it a monster. It's only flaws come from bugs that shouldn't be there.(lag)

tip for vanguard: you're invincible while Nova-ing(as far as I have seen). start your own match so you are host and you solve 90% of the problems that you will ever get with vanguard. (power delay lag bugs, time lag, and you gain priority so banshees, brutes, and phantoms have to actualy be near you to execute you, and you stagger more reliably)

Can I have a point of clarity then and literally just to understand as I;m pretty new to this game.  If all the EXP is shared why do certain players EXP bars go up more than mine in the mission re-cap?  Or is this just showing how well each player does and then it combined for everyone?

That screen is just showing how much EXP each person contributed. You get everyones exp combined with yours.

For pride. It doesn't matter, everyone gets the same xp and credits.

Many vanguard PLAYERS annoy me because they give the class a bad reputation.  Played properly, vanguards are fantastic tanks, CC, biotic explosion / tech burst / fire explosion / cryo explosion triggerers, and objective rushers (only exceeded by Infiltrators) and yet good players utilizing a top tier class to its potential have to deal with disrespect and derision when they enter a room because of the expectations set by retards.

The Vanguard class itself annoys me because there are some really nasty BUGS with it, mainly if you're not host.  Bioware really really needs to fix that.  There's nothing quite like being stuck outside the map randomly or being unable to charge (or nova, for that matter) a target in plain sight for 10 seconds.  It's not an issue of lag... the problem occurs on host too.  It's a problem with Bioware's coding that really shouldn't have made it into a finished game.

You do realize both Nova and Charge stagger enemies right? They also both make you immune to damage. Without lag and with proper timing a vanguard is damn near invincible.

I play Asari vanguard and the lift grenade is off the chain when fully upgraded. I just stick with the team and spam grenades, it is super effective against all enemies really because it incapacitates weaker foes and does serious damage to armor if upgrade correctly. Stasis is a treat too when the fights get crazy.

Funny enough the vanguards I don't like are the one who aren't killing fast enough. They should absolutely shred the regular enemies so the team can deal with more hardened targets without all the stray fire. As long as they don't die too early I have no issues with them dying--it happens with all classes (except maybe infiltrators).

I don't care for kills, I just want a complete run, fast with the full extraction bonus. A vanguard can greatly assist with that.

I don't hate vanguards. I do however hate vanguard players who are just terrible, but that goes for every class.
