I love Vanguard due to the fact that (In my opinion) They are a well rounded class. The most important skill one must know as a vanguard is when to charge. It can go horribly wrong otherwise

I think Vanguards are one of the least well rounded classes. Sure there's room for finesse and skill but they simply don't have many tools at their disposal.

I would have kicked you too. Charging a banshee is a noob move.

Please, by all means. I'd rather not play with someone incapable of reading the context of my statements and haven't yet figured out that smart vanguards can manipulate banshees' behavior and apply gross generalizations.

I only hate vanguards when they blow anything I had my aim on. One second it's there and the next the bastard's gone. Obviously, I pressed the trigger 0.000001 seconds after that.

i frickin love the vanguard class^^
but i have to admit that i hate the scream before/while performing a Nova -.-
just yesterday i had to solo the 9th round against reapers (silver) after all my mates died... wanst fun and also damn annoying with all the screaming coming from my character

btw. right now i'm only playing carnifex novaguard since it's so damn fun to play, so i might switch to my adept classes soon since i havent played em once since i bought the game (and yet they are at lvl14 just from multiple class packs)

When we're playing on Dagger and sat in the array tower at Wave 10 and a swarm of enemies appear on the other side of the map and all you see is a fellow team member biotic charge right in the middle of them, it tends to get annoying. Mind you I give up trying to save them after about Wave 3

Bad Vanguards are a waste of space. This is balanced by good Vanguards being like a gift from god.

Earlier, I was sniping Reapers in Tuchanka in one of the late waves from the higher position overlooking most of the field and I forgot to keep looking to the right to see if any baddies were coming up. Suddenly the Vanguard faces me from across the map, charges me and I see 2 dead husks behind me. Could've hugged him there and then.

Good vanguards can really do some amazing things. Problem is, there is not a whole lot of good ones. Most seem to think they can play the same way they do in bronze which is charge into the nearest pack on the other side of the map and blow them all up. Silver +, woa boy: not such a good idea dude.

If I die alone, it's because nobody followed me. I hate to sound corny, but Vanguards lead, you follow.

I agree with almost everything else in your post, except this. I disagree that Vanguards are set-and-designated leaders.

It's a team effort - everyone works together on equal footing... There is no set leader. This tactic completely outs snipers, for example. Mobile teams work, but not every time in every situation.

I don't think he was saying that Vanguard are team leaders, it's just the way the class works. It's not a defensive class, it's meant to be played on the front line and aggressively. Not to say that you can't play smart and aggresively.

I get tired of cloak reviving vanguards in Silver/Gold.... It seems like their effectiveness runs short past bronze, and they just soak up dmg for a split second before dropping.

It's hard to say, really. I've played with some really good vanguards, and they make life a whole lot easier for everyone else.

Yes, they DO die. They're charging into the thick of things, every now and then something's going to go wrong. Try to save them if you can, and if you can't, they'll have to wait till the end of the round.

That said, I do agree there's too many Vanguards out there that aren't any good at it and they just become a liability. Not much you can do about it, sadly. I had two of those clowns in a game last night, and after they both dropped like flies on level 3 (Bronze, no less), they both quit. Leaving me and one guy to finish the game. (We wiped on lvl 10.)

That said, a level 1 (and N7 level 1) vanguard joined my game earlier, and I was like "Oh, bloody great..."
But, you know, I let the guy stay, since we were all level 1 at one point, and he was actually a really good player. He charged smartly, ressed companions, and he died a total of 2 or 3 times in the whole game.

Like with everything else, it's just the quality of the player.

I feel like I was in that game with the 2 quitters and level 10 wipe. If I wasn't, I was in one just like it.

Human Vanguards with Nova are annoying. Asari and Drell dont bother me one bit. I'm a Vanguard myself and always have been, and I purposly dont use my Human Vanguards because 1) They're cheap 2) Tend to promote bad team play on my part 3) Get instant killed all the time. My go-to class now is my Asari Vanguard. I love it.

I just hate how they keep shake me off from my aim, my job is to bring the heavy hitter's health as soon as possible and they make my life incredibly hard.

The main problem i have with the vanguards is that they "stop" my bullets.

Yep, you cant' shoot through players and it's damn annoying when you waste a Mantis round because a damn vanguard charge in front of your target when you fire. Especially when the said vanguard dies in the next seconds and then yells on his mic to be revived (i tend to let him became friend with the floor in that case, better for my nerves).

I'm a vanguard but I always stick with one player to either aid or keep heat off of them. Was in a match with another Vanguard and he kept dying as he kept going off far away. I can see why people would get annoyed. I kept having to save him. I never go off far.

I like playing my vanguard defensively. I prefer to try and protect my fellow players on harder difficulties. You can give a few seconds of stun so your teammates can get out of danger. If you are rushing into fights on silver+ you are putting your whole team at risk. Basically stay with the group and charge and move enemies that are too close to your teammates.

I don't like playing with them simply because I've noticed a trend of having a significantly less amount of fun when there is a vanguard on the team

I 've played one in singleplayer throughout the whole series because it was easy to be invincible but in MP I just find them downright annoying

Bad Vanguards and even the Good Ones that don't stick with the group are extremely annoying. Whenever I don't have 3 buddies to go Gold, I usually get stuck with a vanguard. The vanguard then proceeds to run away and start charging things until he/she dies and rage quits when no one can get there. Then a level 5 joins and dies a bunch of times.......

It's happened to me a couple of times....

There is just a lot of Players not understanding the most effective Vanguard playing style. Which is understandble :)
For a Human Vanguard it all comes down to pretty much dump any weapon (take the lightest SMG w /weight reduction mod) and Charge/Nova into the right enemy groups, Charge around Atlasses,Phantoms, Banshees, Brutes and kill all other troups leaving your team space to kill the bigger mobs with Instakill you can't charge on your own. And always circle around enemys (especially Turrets) when Novaing and waiting for next Charge to avoid direct dmg.

Yeah i really like playing my vanguard, and i can hold my ground on silver and gold but every time i see another vanguard im 99% sure that hes gonna suck... for all the time that i have played the multiplayer ive seen only 2 or 3 good vanguards everyone else just charges to their death xD
There are some really simple rules to follow when playing with a vanguard.
Vanguards excel at killing lesser enemies but have problems with boss units, and thats something to think about, when ur a vanguard try to clear the field of lesser mobs so that ur teammates can kill boss mobs without being harassed by cerberus troopers for example.
Vanguards should have a slow and methodic playstyle, the fact that you can rush through the map does not mean that you should..
Also the charge ability is a great mobility tool, when you have to get to an objective fast just charge something nearby and then just run for the objective, this way u can also help ur teammates when they are down or just are getting overwhelmed
And the most imortant thing - know when to charge!!! u should charge armored boss units only when you know that youll be able to finish them off before they can retaliate, or that youll be able to escape without getting killed... alot of the times a vanguard just has to stay back and put in damage with their secondary weapon xD

They just don't fit well at all into team play, expecially on silver/gold.
Also, I don't care at all about kill stealing, unless its a biotic charge from across the map, that just a slap in the face

I play a Vanguard, usually on Silver/Bronze, and I must say - the number of times that I charge an Enemy that's about to Curbstomp one of my allies, reach down, pick them up with the spacebar, Nova so there's another stun, then charge again to keep them off people is unrefutably high.

Vanguard's are great at saving people (Just like Infiltrators, only we can prevent people from dying easier as we're on-route.), but as has been said before - the slightest bit of lag will murder-rape us into a corner.

Another fun scenario for Vanguards? Ravagers. Charge in, roll to the right, nova, charge, nova - you keep it off your allies as they unload on it because Ravagers attack the closest target. Your nova's knock off a -ton- of it's health, and you often times can really help someone out this way.

Another fun enemy is the Brute. You can charge as he starts charging you, and since you'll warp to his previous position, you'll biotic charge -through- him and wind up behind him, preventing insta-gib. This also allows you to control him, because like ravagers he'll attack the closest target (most) of the time.

I play to protect my friends and anyone I work with, in the end. Even still, I'd love to work with anyone who doesn't like Vanguards and show them just what a force we can be when played intelligently. :)

The problem with the class is its useless unless you charge/nova spam. I only recently started playing as a vanguard. I used to be strictly adept/sentinel until I got hit by the bug and lost my characters. Vanguards powers only work effectively if you use one light weapon so they can recharge fast enough. If you use heavier weapons, they recharge incredibly slow which just makes it pointless to be that class and not something with more health/different powers.

That being said, I don't fly across the map in the open and try to stick to close quarters.
