2) Changing the ending sets a horrible precedent. You don't change the ending for the same reason you don't negotiate with terrorists. It will just encourage more of this disgusting behavior.
3) Creators that don't have the integrity to stand beside their choices and keep moving forward are bad creators. See: George Lucas.
4) Grow up!
5) Even if they did "fix" the ending, the chances of it being able to silence the hyenas is slim.
6) Even if they did work out an ending that people were happy with, you would just find the next biggest issue to harp about, start a new petition, and the cycle continues.
7) Asking creators to change art is something only an unsocialized imbecile would do. It's like crapping in a bucket in public and then wearing the bucket as a helmet. Nobody is going to take your opinion seriously when you do things so far over the line of what is acceptable behavior.
8) Stop it.

fact that Shepard died, because that means they didn’t take the same story book
routine that everyone does i in fact like that hero’s die in the end gives them
a more human appeal. I am however a litter put off that you don’t really see
what happens to your comrades. i still however wont to replay it and i still
wont the next one and ill still get the next one. i won’t ever ask a writer to
rewrite his ending because i didn’t like how it had been done. Flame me all you

First off, I would like to establish I have been a ME fan sense it came out. And yes, I did play (and watch as well) the ending.
People are petitioning for a DLC that changes the Mass Effect 3 ending. But... not going to happen.
1). Bioware has said multiple times "For all those Mass Effect fans, there will be more." Why change the ending when Bioware can release another game that shows the rebuilding of the Mass Relays (its Bioware, they will find a way) and the fate of the normandy crews. Everyone wins. Bioware makes millions, fans get closure. (mind=blown)
2). All those who create art accept criticism. But Bioware seems to encourage it. They wanted an unforgettable ending. And you know what, the succeeded. This is the most I have ever seen anyone talk about an ending. That being said, was the ending preforable? To me, sort of. It ended Shepards story perfectly. But it never really applied your choices to the ending. Unless you derped through the entire game, everyones ending was pretty much the same. But, with a new game, Bioware can apply choices from all ME games, including if you cured the genophage and if Earth survived. (I am aware the krogans are probably dead, but then again, plummeting to a planet from outer space didnt kill Shepard.)
3). If in some slim situation that Bioware released a DLC, not everyone would buy it (or even download it if it was free.) I would pay like 3 dollars for a new ending, but that is the extent. And if they were to release another game, all the people who got default endings would be like. I would officially be Biowares bi*** if they did.
I hope my points were valid enough. If not oh well. If I am wrong, I will be happy to eat my own words.
I was getting the flame throwers ready but did I miss your sarcasm? Honestly I don't see how anyone could actually be happy with your proposal.

for the record i am not one of the haters about the ending, it made me think about the repercussions, but even though i still have questions about it in general, I am fine with ambiguity

I agree partially with you, i dont think the ending should be changed, the ending we got is the one we got and period, in any case i will support a DLC that explains stuff or continues the story based upon the endings, which is a totally different thing, but i do not like the whole "this is art" excuse, becouse though i share that the endings should not be chaning, it does not change the fact that they are **** and shows a incredible lack of work in it, which is utterly incredible, becouse the other 99% of the game is actually damm good.
Dispite all this, the husks wall that demands a change in the ending is not realizing that if they got what they wanted it will set a dangerous precedent since there are 2 possible outcomes:
1) bioware releases a FREE DLC that changes the ending, proving that if the community whines hard enough can force a dev to change stuff in the game, imo this is plainly wrong, as i siad in a thread i posted if someone did not liked the ending can never buy a game from bioware again, but the reality is that as soon as ME4 is announced that same person will run to the nearest store to preorder the "N7 uber duper delux0r edition"... so i see no future in this massive rage in the long term.
2) Bioware releases a PAID DLC that changes the ending, this is the worst case scenario since it PROVES that you can rip off your customers with ****ty endings and then charge them for the "proper" or "liked" one, seriously guys think about it.
Despite all that, every time i see a post that DEMANDS a "happy" ending i inmediately want to kill that person, wtf is going on in his mind, becouse c'mon, even if the endings weren't ****, would this ppl still complained that there is no "happy" ending a make movement for it to be added? seems childish being generous...

SCREW THAT! I'm not going to pay for a full price expansion or entire new game just to tie up loose ends in the so-called conclusion when we were promised, by Bioware's own statements that ME3 was going to tie everything up. "It's not going to be a Lost ending..." it was said. "Everything will be wrapped up..." it was said. Yet the ending was a Lost ending, and it wrapped up little and made more questions while discarding the vast majority of the very fabric of the ME universe.

1. Except Bethesda already did it with Fallout 3 for a very similar reason. The original ending to Fallout 3 was extremely unfulfilling and fans rallied. End result: Broken Steel DLC.
2. See number 1. The precedent has already been set within the genre. And terrorists? Really? That's your comparison? Lay off the red sand man. There's a happy medium between extremes.
3. Most creators don't up and change writers for the last part of a series, either. Just sayin'. It's clear the ending of ME3 is born out of a writer not fully understanding the universe.
5 & 6. No ending will please everyone. But these endings anger almost everyone. I'd rather have at least some people happy. Leaving almost everyone angry is going to hurt them in the end as people just abandon the franchise and its DLC.
7. The art argument?! I'm sick of this argument. You don't wait until the last 10 minutes in a three game series to go all avante garde. The art argument is a complete cop out. BW's way to retcon their own statements leading up to ME3 and to retcon significant portions of the game.

WRONG WRONG WRONG
Cant remember the source but a Bioware dev said they had no intention of dragging it out like the TV series "Lost"
We have played and waited for years, we want closure so we can move on. We dont want to sit through Mass effect 7. Mass effect was great but had its run, we want something fresh and new now, expanding ME series instead of closing it atm will only ruin the whole franchise.
Again, Bioware said they didnt want to turn ME into lost.

For the following, I am a geek, an old one in fact.
Geeks are fickle, and have long memories. And computer gaming geeks are tired of being jerked around by game companies - of which EA is one of the worst offenders.
Gamers were already leery because of the flop of DA2. And then all the DLCs - including a release day DLC - is making this more about gouging than making a decent game for their customers.
And now this.
Fans are dumping their used games, are warning others, and are fdoing EVERYTHING they can to hurt and embarrass EA. That means EA loses money.
EA has a poor corporate image, but Bioware HAD a good one, in one week - one week, that's all - it was lost.
Just like 15 minutes ruined the game for so many of us.
Soon, within the next couple weeks we will walk away from this, and we won't look back. We're hanging on to see if they are going to do something after the Asia release (I'm thinking if they will do something, they will do it Monday). But if they still ignore us, then we'll declare it done and leave.
We will be angry at what EA and Bioware did, we will not be buying any other DLCs, and when the next product comes out, we will NOT rush out to buy it. Some will, but a significant number of fans will not. It may not be a majority that won't, but it may be. Either way, it will be a significant dent in sales because of what is - currently - fixable.
On top of that, right now customers are walking away from SWtOR in anger at EA-Bioware, and they are unlikely to come back as long as they remember that anger (which could be a long time). If the numbers are high enough, that could really put a hole in EAs steady revenue stream.
EA's stock price went up to 17.5 on Friday thanks to the sales of ME3 in the first week. it is now back down to 16.6 thanks to the uproar over this. And if SWtOR loses a lot of players this week, you can look at that stock price to tumble more.
In which case I would expect someone called on the carpet next week and pointedly asked "What the FRAK did you DO!?"
EA will survive, but I suspect the Bioware division may be dead within a few years if they don't fix this now. I don't have a crystal ball, so I can't say for certain, but current evidence is that they may have miscalculated BADLY with this.
Also, they really should release the fix as free, preferably with an explanation of how it was all planned, and they didn't expect the fans to react so negatively to this, and that it is a great testament to the series that the fans are so devoted and emotionally involved, and that they are sorry for the distress this caused.
Such a statement costs them nothing, and will probably earn them some good will. If they don't apologize, and especially if they charge for the fixed ending, they will still likely sell a pile of the DLCs just to get the satisfactory ending... but the fans will remain angry. They won't forgive, and they won't forget.
It started out as such a small thing, but this could be potentially fatal to a few careers, perhaps the entire division. It all depends upon how bad this gets.
Personally if I was a senior exec in EA I would have been on the phone by now asking "how are you going to fix this?"
Hey, I've been on the other end of such questions. And what I found is owning up to mistakes, and taking steps to fix the problem earns you good will with the customers, which means the customers continue to give you money.
Which for a company, is the entire point of the exercise.

I haven't posted in a long time, but I had to respond to this post.
1. Not technically possible? Any company talented enough to create such an epic game to begin with can certainly figure out how to alter it.
2. How does listening to and responding to your fanbase, either by changing an ending or adding content set a bad precedent? This is what good companies do to keep their customer's loyal and happy. I don't understand the terrorist portion of this at all.
3. I can agree with the creator portion of this, but companies that don't make the effort to listen to and satisfy their customer's don't remain profitable companies.
4. Grow up huh?
5. Absolutely, the "hyena's" will never be satisfied. That's why they are hyenas, heh. What's wrong with wanting something different, what's wrong with being unsatisfied?
6. Yeah, what would have happened if Shepard had been satisfied with just laying down and accepting the reapers domination? What's wrong with fighting for what you want?
7. The art argument. Should there be no art critics? This is not just a piece of art, it's a journey that a lot of people have become emotionally invested in. Giving us a limited set of endings just for art's sake is not true to the spirit of art.
8. Why? Why should people not voice their opinions?
These games are about choice. The choice to be paragon or renegade, the choice to start a romance or not, the choice of saving this society or condemning another. To be presented with such a limited set of "choices" at the end is not in the spirit of the series in my opion. The endings have some merit, but we should have been presented with the opportunity of making a meaningful choice. I have been a loyal fan of Bioware since before Baldur's Gate and continue to be so. If they release a dlc that explains and changes the ending then I will purchase it. If they release a Mass Effect 4, I will purchase it. They are excellent at what they do, but I am very disappointed in the current endings to a series that I invested so much time and effort in because they are not satisfying. I wanted to be satisfied with my ending, to Shepard's story. I am not satisfied with that ending. I will keep an eye on it though as I'm sure everyone else will. Cheers.
