I found a quest object called "Taper". It's in the quests objects and is discribed as " A long stick used to light candles", found in the Ruined Temple in one of the first side corridors when you enter the ruins while doing the Urn of Ashes quest. I scrolled over every candle holder in the ruins but nothing happened
Does anyone know what this is for? or found a quest related to it?

If im not mistaken, you need that thing to light up a brazier further into the temple

I believe Gresin is right. Can't say for certain, since I've never gone through the temple without that taper, but it seems to be the only explanation.

Yea, its true..you need that and the black pearl thing to light the brazier...without either one, you can't do it..I actually tested it because I was bored and curious.

Is there any point to lighting that brazier anyway ?

If you don't you can't continue into the ruins..so yea, I mean I guess if you don't really feel like completing the game though..not really.

Wow, that means that I completely did that by accident then. I wasn't even aware of that quest...I did notice I got a black perl at one point...so I guess I must have done it by complete coincidence. Since I have never had any problem lighting the fire.

This is interesting. I didn't light the brazier on my way throught the ruins, and I completed the ruins without doing that. I most likely had the Taper and Black Pearl in my inventory/log but why I didn't light the brazier I have no idea. So I went back yesterday and found the brazier and lit it and received a Codex Update. On my next play-thru I will remember to watch for the Taper and Black Pearl and try to get a quest.
