1. ME2
Real quality product, but lacks bit character skill point system
2. ME1
I liked that RPG setting
3. ME3
You cant really choose anything, only about Genophage and Geth war outcome. Game feels rushed, i think they EA made them focus too much to SWTOR and ME3 was project B

ME1- in the end, the most complete and deep game
ME2- used to think it was the best ME. loved the combat and characters. I forgave the unfocused plot cause I expected 3 to "fix" it. didn't happen
ME3- Great, but lacks the depth of the first two. Not counting the ending

The ending ruined almost the whole story for me, couple that with a disappointing photoshop of my beloved Tali's face, and ME3 deserves to be last on this list IMO

If Bioware have a plan for ME3's ending then I will go with:
1. ME3 - so smoothly woven together it's incredible. So many great little touches that make you smile. If "The Truth" turns out to be, well, true, then this is hands down the best experience.
2. ME1 - the intro and the ending are still the best parts in the entire trilogy. Then you have Ilos with Vigil, Virmire, and many other fantastic scenes. Lacking in combat dynamics, and a bit wooden acting when looking back, but other than that it trumps ME2 on atmosphere.
3. ME2 - introduces probably some of the best characters of the series, but apart from that (and the combat) nothing really stands out.
However, IF ME3's ending is final, then I'd say ME1 > ME3 > ME2.

For me it is close between 2 and 3, but characters and places of ME2 took over.
I agree 100%!
Now, Bioware, please give me Jack as a squadmate in some DLC...

ME3 > ME2 > ME1, not considering the horrible ending.
It was a constant progress, mostly with the characters, gameplay and even the story.

I liked ME1 for story and gameplay mechanics. It was more of a RPG. ME2 and 3 are streamlined with the the inventory system removed and more linear environments. I like ME2 better than 3 because of the renegade interupts and more character interactions.

1,2......3. The games just got more and more gutted of content...From ME1 it just went downhill. Killing off Shepard only to be reborn and having a side trip with terrorists was stupid, then it got worse in 3.

ME 1 - ME 3 - ME 2.
It's like asking a parent to pick a favourite child. ME 3 had so much going for it, it had arguably the most awesome music of the three games, it had the best character writing and side stories. It had more bugs than the previous two games, but I overlooked that easily. What is impossible to overlook is the ending, but that shouldn't be discussed here.
ME 1 just because, it was the first game, I started on it, it felt proper epic, I felt like a complete action hero(ine) at the end.

ME3 would be my favorite if it weren't for the ending. Isn't that weird? How 5 minutes can impact so much of a game's good?
ME2 is one of my favorite RPGs of all time.
ME1 was boring for the most part, but I ended up getting invested and got into it.

ME>ME2>ME3
Yeah well... technically, the first might not have been the best of the lot (rather unpolished), but it opened up this extremely well-designed universe and the story was somehow more "focused" than with the other two. At least, I could really relate to the story, as it was not as extreme as in ME2 or ME3. No resurrection, no depressing end of the world stuff, just a crew saving the day. Ah, those simple times in the old days!

I feel Mass Effect 3 nailed the gameplay right, and that Mass Effect nailed the intro story to such an expansive universe. I'm not sure what Mass Effect 2 accomplished however.

"recruiting a team for a suicide mission, then going on a suicide mission" doesnt stack up for me when compared to the other two, even with 3's disappointing ending.

Overall: 3>2>1
Even with ME3's ending it is superior to the others. Throughout the game I was full of adrenaline aha.
2 before 1 just because it was easier to replay. Going back to ME1 combat is difficult but the story makes it worth it.
