1 is last because... well its just so dated and the gameplay GoW change was a great move.

If only ME3 had ME2s quality of writing, omega, illium and its soundtrack....

Even though the ending of ME3 is garbage, and I really, really love ME1.

ME1 > ME2> ME3

None were perfect, but with some patching 3 could edge 2 but I doubt it'll get the right patches (Import, Journal, better side quests, and the last 20mins 'fixed')

I guess you must have been high or missed all those odd conversation glitches and didn't mind that the combat was "wash-rinse-repeat" and maybe you had a mild seizure during the ending.. all those flashy lights and all.

I think that it is a tie between Mass Effect 2 and 3. Not for the ending, but because in ME3 most of the sidequests are really simple.....send prove XD. I have not played the first one because I dont have a 360 XD.

ME3 would have been a masterpiece if, in order to found some of the artifacts (protheans, and reaper) EDI detects some kind of anomaly, so you have to investigate the depths of some place, killing monsters, and exploring in order to obtain those precious things. That is my only complain in ME3. Gameplay, story, and graphics are way better in the 3rd one but some of the RPG elements have been diluted a little.

Also I think that they should have incorporated the mining mechanic of ME2, because it make sense. You are in an intergalactic fight, that determines the fate of the universe, so more minerals will help to make more ships, equipment etc.

ME3 is fantastic, and I really hope that they make lots of single player DLCs that let you explore more places in the galaxy. If Bioware make that, ME3 would be near perfection really....and the best game I would ever play.

Keep the good work BIOWARE, hopefully you will also enhance the RPG elements in your future games (Dragon Age 3).

PS: Please release Mass Effect: Infiltrator on the PSN and XBL XD

I think you have to factor in the first game as it seemed when it first arrived. ME3 has some improvements over the first game, but it plays out very similarly to ME2 with some glitches, as well as some great and some dubious design choices. ME2 was a little over-simplified in the RPG aspects, but the writing, gameplay and production values jumps from the first one were significant.

1. ME2 - I used to like ME1 the most, but ME2 has grown on me and has taken the crown. Great characters, I really like the addition of the Illusive Man character and I like what how they handled the characters in general, Tali especially.

2. ME1 - Close to number 2, each have different strengths and weaknesses. Would prefer ME2 combat with ME1 talents. ME1 also have the most interesting antagonists. Saren and Sovereign are epic!

3. ME3 - The endings really means that much to me and it could very well have been number 1 if the endings weren't so extremely bad. It's so bad I had to think about if it was done by another company. Had a bit too much auto dialogue, specifically in regards to squad mates, but I can live with that considering the way alot of other things was handled.

ME3 > ME2 > ME1.

Some may not like how the story concluded but the facts remain that gameplay was materially superior through every iteration of the franchise.

ME2 > ME3 > ME1

Basically it boils down to the way ME2 felt like it finally lived up to everything ME1 was supposed to be. It was far richer (so many little easter eggs and just... vibrant STUFF to see), consistent in quality (ME1 had a jarring divide between main story missions and the UNC missions), much more technically polished (no more texture popping, framerate chugging, shadow jaggies, overly long elevators...), had several hubs to explore that really made you finally feel like you were living in the ME universe, not just dropping into abandoned combat zones, and the focus on characters and humor all made me feel it was a step up from ME1 in almost every way except the main plot. ME3, on the other hand, still just manages to beat ME1 for most of the same reasons, but falls behind ME2 for me partially just because it isn't nearly as much of a step up in quality as ME2 was over ME1, and partially because it went back to having fewer hubs (just the Citadel really. ME1 had the Citadel, Noveria, kinda-sorta-counts Feros. ME2 had the Citadel, Illium, Tuchanka, and Omega.) even if having it be about a galactic war does explain why there aren't more civilized places to visit. Lastly, I guess the ending still leaves me a bit depressed, even if I am one of the ones less upset about it, relatively speaking.

Now if they can release some really good DLC it might stand a chance of at least matching ME2 in my eyes, which also had pretty good DLC that helped elevate it even higher in my book. Though DLC does have to considered as an at least partially seperate product.

Hard to decide. Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 are neck and neck. They both had things I enjoyed from each, not to mention the original always had that special feeling to me.

Whether it was the sheer number of planets to explore in ME (including my love/hate relationship with the mako) and those good old elevator rides with Tali and Garrus on the citadel. Meanwhile ME 2 had the kick ass suicide mission and an amazing soundtrack. I honestly couldn't pick one over the other.

Mass Effect 3 could easily be at the top... if it wasn't for that ending. The most emotional narrative yet and over twice the dialogue that was in 2 was great. I loved being able to go deeper into Shepard's relationships with his squad and seeing them move around the Normandy as well.
It had so much potential, of course this all fell apart in the last 15-20 minutes of the game IMO. I honestly wish they had done something else with it. It's amazing what 15 minutes can do to your perception towards and entire game that can easily last 40 hours.

Face it. ME2 had no such thing as a coherent and relevant plot.

ME1 will always have the best story and characters, which I think is most important for a series like Mass Effect. Combat, graphics etc. are obviously better in ME2 and ME3 but the atmosphere and feel of ME1 can not be matched.

I like all three games for what they bring to the table.

Plot, story and ambience: ME > ME3 > ME2
-The story for ME was awesome, Saren made an excellent villain throughout the game, the scenery of alien planets were beautiful, and each main mission had its unique feel (Virmire vs Noveria vs the Citadel at the end). The first ME game had the best soundtrack.

Gameplay: ME3 > ME2 > ME
-Expanding power options with more biotic combos and new tech combos, the improved cover system and overall feel of combat in ME3 just outdoes ME2 and especially ME to me.

Squad: ME2 > ME3 > ME
The ME2 squad-mates were so different and unique from one another, plus there were so many. I never actually disliked anyone and seeing them develop from their loyalty missions was something I loved to be a part of - it was unfortunate that all of them got minor roles in ME3. I hated how none of the squaddies truly interracted with one another (Garrus never once acknowledged Jack's existence for the most part) and I was really happy they fixed this in ME3. For the ME squad, it's nostalgic seeing the old gang again but I prefer the ME2 squad-mates for their diversity.
