It seems so. I never saw what everyone else sees in her, but oh well. I dislike how she has so many forced conversations with Shepard, though. I wish I could have told her to leave me alone.

Liara's true power is that she and her mother are the only Asari with eyebrows. This genetic distinction make her perfect for..

I don't know. Eyebrows.

There is no canon in Mass Effect, Casey Hudson said it himself.

She's the only squaddie that cannot die in any game.

Makes sense. Also, not romancing her, and her STILL rescuing you from the Collectors seems odd.

Why odd? She obviously cares a LOT about Shepard either way.

Let's not forget she's the ONLY one that gets an actual sex scene in Mass Effect 3. She isn't the canon LI, cause there is no canon. But Bioware definitely plays favorites with her.

Wait what? I thought most of them did except my Jack and a couple others.

Don't listen to him.

She had melded minds with you in ME1 so that must have formed a special connection, no LI required.

What does "canon" mean exactly? Is it like the default character or something?

Yea, if Bioware would have to declare a canon LI, there's no doubt it would be Liara. She got the most attention from Bioware, no arguing there.

Love her though, im fine with Bioware giving her the most attention.

Tali and Garrus go together better than Shep+Tali/Garrus do. At least Tali and Garrus can eat the same food.

But yeah Liara does kinda seem like the "default" LI.

I think if you take the whole story into consideration, she makes the most sense as an LI. I've just always felt the lengths she went to to get Shepard back made more sense if you were together. The way she's so deeply integrated into the plot and the way she develops over the games add to that for me. Of course, this stuff can still make sense if you were very close friends or she has massive unrequited love for you.

There is no "canon" love interest though, that's one of the good things about the series

Considering Liara mysteriously shows up in everyone's epilogue regardless of who they romance;

Not true. I watched all 3 possible endings with my LadyShep, and Liara was in none of them.

There is a canon even if they say there isn't. Freedom of choice in the game is just an illusion, as you find out through the game when some of the choices you made are just ignored or given a brief mention of.

I think it's clearly Liara. I don't object to that and the fact that she becomes a really close friend regardless of if you romance her is fine, she's a great character. If they had to focus on one, she makes sense as she can be romanced by either gender in ME1, goes with the whole tolerance and unification theme and unlike other alien romances introduced later (and some human options), is capable of having offspring from the coupling. I do find myself wishing that there was more close personal interactions with all the love interests (or at least the four other's that can be ME3 squad mates), but then that may just be me being greedy, I'd probably want more if Liara was my LI too.

No offense, but Liara has the least personality out of all of the Mass Effect characters. Even when she's busy being awesome, she sounds like she's been hit on the head. My paragon character romanced her in Shadow Broker, but I had to put a stop to that right quick when ME3 started.

Out of all of the characters, Liara is the only one who has no chance of dying, so they put a lot of her into the story in order to pad games where the ME2 imports had most of the cast dying. It then makes sense for her to be in the final .bik video because rather than, you know, having in-engine cutscenes it was just cheaper to use the video where Liara is one of your oldest friends instead of a video recognizing that you may have had several teammates you've known even longer than her (like, you know, Garrus or Doctor Chakwas or Ashley Williams or Kaidan Alenko or Tali'Zorah or anybody who joined your crew first in Mass Effect 1 and stuck around longer).

Excuse me, let me explain first. Liara's sex scene is the only one where the LI is actually nude, and they go through some of the motions.

The rest of the LIs either show them drop to the bed and it fades to black, or they kiss for a bit in their underwear and that's it.

Well, seeing as how the flashback of the LI defaults to Liara unless you choose Ashley or Kaiden, I'd say that it seems to be the default. Or it's just a case of cutting corners on that ending. The bulk of what we see is exactly the same no matter what, so why not just recycle the same LI for everyone?

I don't hate Liara at all. I really don't.

But I will never forgive her for taking the place of my bird-raptor boyfriend in the flashback sequence.

this

I've seen some flashbacks include Ashley, Kaidan and Liara in them at the same time, so not so sure about everyone getting the same flashbacks.
