I feel a little cheated because I'm not sexually attracted to women. I am attracted to aliens with exoskeletons who are male. That is how much I am not sexually attracted to liara. She turns into a pretty cool person and I think she is a good friend, but she is not my type of romance interest.

I felt cheated a lot on lair of the shadow broker when I saw that people who romanced her get an exploding slow motion kiss AND get to bang her. Poor Kaidan was off sulking, apparently turning into an alcoholic.

I'd like more too. There's long stretches of nothing.

There's nothing more depressing then when the universe is getting you down, heading down to engineering for a few heart warming words from my love, to find all Tali has to say to me is "Hello Shepard".

I swear, I've had better conversations with Wrex! He doesn't kiss as well mind.

Speaking of Canon, It's also pretty clear the canon is for Tali to hook up with Garrus too. My best friend and my girlfriend are meant to be together. Damn that hurts! Worse still, now they are stranded together on a beautiful alien world. Ah well, at least they'll both be happy.

I love that line.

Er, what line?

Wrex's "I guess I don't kiss as well" one. Maybe it's a Liara LI exclusive.

If there were a canon, it would be Liara.

Then again, if there were a canon, Shep would be a dude. Ergo, canon is stupid.

Ha, I was strongly anti-Liara and anti-Ashley in Mass Effect because I "couldn't" romance Tali, then strongly pro-Tali in Mass Effect 2 for almost all my playthroughs, but then Lair of the Shadow Broker came out and I realized I liked Liara as well.

At least it gives me something different to do on different playthroughs since I only like playing Paragon.

I always though Ashley because of her CG apperance in ME1 and ME3. Along with her romance scene being in the trailer.

Ash being in the trailer was for newcomers. If they saw Shep smackin lips with a blue girl they may be weirded out, therefore potentially hurting sales.

Yeah, marketing has to be focused on pulling people in with the stereotypical characters. That's why it was always MaleShep in the marketing until ME3.

Blue girls are not weird...

Couldn't agree with you more. But appealing to mainstream gamers is more difficult with a blue, alien LI.

Actually, I think 'canon' LI is Kaiden/Ashley. Not S/S of course, but yea.

No offense, but Liara has the least personality out of all of the Mass Effect characters

Least personality? I feel like her personality is more dynamic than any other character. She starts off as a socially awkward and shy doctor and ends up as a confident information broker who stands up for herself. I don't want to drag this into debate, but I felt like adding my own input.

I agree. The rest were fairly stable (minus Garrus) but she really changed over the course of the games. If you've played all of them, you would know this. ME1: awkward scientist; ME2: in-over-her-head info agent with a bit of a god complex; ME2: LotSB: more humanized; ME3: almost completely humanized.

But in ME1 she is sooo cute [smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png[/smilie]

I have to say - I always thought Liara's personality shift between Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2 made no sense. It just felt like the developers really liked Liara after the first game and decided to make her more badass and important by throwing in the Shadow Broker thing. Cos, when you think about it, from an overall plot standpoint, there's no need for her to be the Shadow Broker. Everything important that comes from her is related to her Prothean knowledge.

But hey, I'm biased. I never liked her in the first game, and never bring her on missions unless I have to. I only treat her like she's my friend because I feel like Shepard should have friends.

Well they definitely give her the most attention. She is the best though, so that might be why.

lol what?

Every love interest gets a fairly good portion of attention...if you pay attention to them.  Ashley/Kaiden even gets a large amount of backstory and they explicitly show up ONLY to tell you they don't trust you anymore and that they hate you (and apologize) in me2.  In ME3 there's a bunch of hospital visits and hope-so's and redemption on their part.

Garrus...C'mon, for FemShep Garrus is singularly the way to go, entirely.  In every game.  There's a reason why it's typically accepted that Garrus is MShep's best friend, period.

Tali also gets a massive amount of import, even more than Garrus/Liara (arguably) through her interactions with the Admirals and the Geth/Quarian war.  Garrus himself has no say in the Turian/Krogan situation and Liara is mostly background noise for the entirety of two and three (short of the beginning of 3 and Shadow Broker DLC).

And if you don't ask after every character, guess what, they all seem about as interesting as Jacob.

There is no "canon LI."

Due to story considerations, Liara can't die until the end of the third game. However, who Shepard is - and who he or she is involved with, if anyone - is up to the player.

Shes always been my preferred LI since ME1 was first released. First playthrough of 2 I stayed true to her, and you look at her picture before you fight the COllector's, I knew their was something more. Then she becomes super important to the plot in LOTSB, THEN she becomes basically the main squad mate/story character. Her sex scenes in ME1 and ME3 are the best in the series. My Renegade SHepard is cheating on her with Chavez.

Personally, the badassfullness of Liara in ME2, Lair, and ME3 made me like her more.

When I played ME1, I picked Ashley but her ideals was kinda not appealing to me, so I started new paragon male and picked Liara. I had a feeling she will be perfect and was truly amazed by her part in ME3...best ever....

I wish she was real.... :(

Liara does have by far the most interesting romance imo.

I mean, for starters the way that Asari reproduce is pretty insane. That counts for something.

Liara also just has a nice personality and makes Shepard a cool space box.

Garrus works well as FemSheps best friend also, in a kind of tomboyish way.

Garrus is definitely one of the most likeable characters. I don't know about romance though.
