So, I heard how easy it is to hack the multiplayer of Mass Effect 3, something I have 0% interest in doing.  However, the problem as I understand it is if I end up in a game with someone who DOES hack their game, say to cause the mission to give 10000000 credits... I'll get those 1000000 credits also.  Then, when Bioware notices this, I can be banned.  This worries me.

Is there yet any fixes to this? I was talking to a friend of mine about this issue the other day, and his comment was that this is 2012 not 2001.  Multiplayer files on the player's computer making them so easy to hack is something most companies learned was a bad idea ten years ago.

in a word, no
you also have to worry about the complete kit reset bug, which will lock every weapon, character, and item you have unlocked with in game credits or spent real bioware points (cash) on. i'm waiting on another support ticket to see if i can get my stuff back, otherwise i'm out 1600 bioware points due to a "bug"

Well, you could always try and host all your games, that will keep any kind of hacking from happening, unless you do it.

Is that last comment true? I have no problem hosting games.

I had no idea about these hacks. Played MP yesterday for the first time. Worried now. Puppies will die if I come back from work and I cannot decompress because Origin banned me...

Yeah, the leader's file determines what goes on in the match. That's how people sometimes notice that they get infinite ammo or one shot kill everything despite not hacking themselves.

Should be still safe to go on every once in a while, to keep galactic readiness up.

Hmmm so if I just host myself when I play instead of using quick match, then I am safe no matter what?  Cause I like the multiplayer, I just don't want to get banned because some jerk was cheating.

I don't trust this mess either, on launch day here in Europe I went to check out the multi and saw 2 kits waiting for me, spectre kit and Battlefield 3 kit, tried to activate both but somehow it didn't work, then tried to join a game but never found any other players or open sessions (in the demo earlier it worked).

When I tried it again the other day my spectre kit was gone with only the BF3 kit being listed (which at least could be activated at that point) that combined with what I've read around the forums I figured better stay away from the multi for now.

Don't get me wrong, I like the ME story and what is has to offer, but I sure do not like what they made out of it beginning in ME2 and now ME3 is buggier than ever. The last 6 months wasted on kinect might have been better spent with some serious testing and polishing.

The only good thing about this half assed effort is having a multiplayer out in the ME Universe puts some pressure on em, as they can't afford to leave their new hot IP out in the sun to slowly rot and die as some of the bigger games usually are after the initially moneygrab and one or two patches.

Well, the Battlefield 3 kit is for having Battlefield 3, sort of a thank you for playing their other games (kinda like what they did withi Sir Issac's Armor in Dragon Age 2 for having Dead Space 2 also). The Spectre kit you get a single free one the first time you do multiplayer.

As for losing stuff, from what I understand that happens when you click "ready" then entre the "store" and the game starts while you are in the store.

the battlefirld 3 kit appearing in the store a second time is the symptom of getting hit with the reset bug. just be glad you never spent much time in multiplayer or spent cash on the pack store

To be honest, this is Mass Effects' first attempt at a multiplayer game. It's a feature that I was very skeptical about when it first was mentioned would be included. I knew there would be no end to the initial hacking, the whining of players and the general nerd rage over people putting such high priority on multiplayer.

Honestly, I think they should have never introduced this feature because hacking an RPG just seems dumb.

Add me as a friend if you live in Europe for good latency: Maphesta

I'll be hosting my MP games from now on. Random everything, turning to silver maps this weekend.

Well, I like it but the fact that it uses the files off your computer for settings is just so 2001 as a friend of mine said.  He was like the industry learned how EASY that makes hacking back with Diablo and Diablo 2.  Seems EA however "missed the memo"

OH and btw if anyone wants to add me as a friend on origin so we can play, my name is same as my forum name here.  I am in Kansas (center of United States) for latency reference.
