Stanley...Since you mentioned that our poll is only a small portion of the community, why not do one of two things, place an official poll on the mass effect site/front page asking peoples thoughts on the ending OR e-mail the registered owners of ME3 some kind of survey like the ones done on many games in the past? I remember just seeing one not to long ago from SWTOR like this. Would be very cool in my book.

For the record I love the series immensely, just the ending of ME3 was a shocker. (in a bad way) :(

that wouldn't be accurate, a lot of people who should be allowed to take part in such a vote have put getting ME3 on hold until this issue is resolved, the survey would be bias because many of the people on one side of the issue lack a copy to register and/or don't plan on getting one for a while.

Mr. Woo, I just ask that you keep in mind the polls that are floating around this site.  They show that it really is a majority of people who do not like the endings.

Thank you, but while they may be an indication of something, they are based on a self-selecting sample of a specific minority of our total player base. Specifically, the ones who feel the strongest about the situation and seek out ways to make their displeasure known. So yes, they are useful in gauging how our community feels, but no, not necessarily as "proof" of how the general public feels.

Exactly when it comes to volultary polls, only those with a strong opinion(Usually a strong negative opinion) will respond so they aren't a good indicator of how your population feels.  Any basic stat class will tell you this.

Sorry, I'll try one more time because this is really important to me. I don't want to know when Bioware will respond or what kind of news it will be:

Will we at some point get some sort of official response about the "change-the-ending" campaign?

Yes, we/I understand you will listen but will you respond to the dissent?

I repeat:

Even if we don't respond immediately or to your satisfaction, BioWare
appreciates its fanbase--all of it, even the part of it taking a break
from BioWare games--and the feedback it provides. We will not always
agree, and you will not always like what we do, but that's not going to
stop us from striving to do better in the future.

I understand you may have to jump around some things but that to me doesn't answer my question. I already know you won't answer immediately.

I too would like to add my appreciation to all that you do Stan. And the rest of Bioware. I am an avid fan of Bioware games, even if I don't like or agree with what happens in the games, the user interface, characters, and story are almost always strong enough to draw me in no matter what opinions I may have had originally.

I actually picked up Mass Effect 1 less than a year ago for the first time because my siblings wouldn't stop bothering me about giving it a shot, and I liked all the other games your company has made in the past so I gave it a shot and was instantly hooked.

I think that's true as far as elections go, where EVERYONE has an opinion that counts absolutely equally, and a small vocal minority can distract from that.

In a business situation, a wholesale customer revolt is different.  You need to get people to have strong positive feelings about your product, so when 3% of your paying customers come back to you enraged enough to donate money to a campaign against it, that's VERY significant.  Unprecedented, even.

I doesn't work like that. You probably meant this as a joke, which I don't find funny at all, but I don't recall QA being priviledge to meddle with the main plot of the games. They are not part of the writing team, unless some of the writers also act as part-time QA. QA is serious business.

I don't think Stanley actually does QA anymore. He may still be in QA, but I don't think he does testing.

That's for the laypeople. He gets to sit at the front and look important.

Whereas John gets to drink heavily and shoot movies with digital actors.

What's this countdown for, anyways?

Probably an iOS version of Baldur's Gate, or an HD update.

It's weird because nobody knows who has the source (BioWare once said they didn't even know if they had it, if I remember), and I think Atari ended up with most of the content rights. And it's all locked up by WotC, as typical.

So who'd they license it from? And were the original assets still around after all this time?

Probably somebody should have liberated the IE source from Interplay a long time ago. But BioWare gave it away to collect their overdue royalties (which I don't think they ever even got).

BioWare should have done Sonic for iPhone. I always said Mark was an idiot for not doing it. They probably would have sold 100x better, even if it wasn't any good.

Why didn't you get them to change the name back to Ho for the PC Special Edition?

It's dumb. Surely 2K would have been easier to strongarm.

I have to say the endings of mass effect 3 are a huge mistake that almost reach Square soft proportions Square soft screwed up with FF X and everything after that almost as bad as When Capcom Announced that they would never make a new Darkstalkers Game as no one wants one if they looked at there Forums they would see that there is tons of petitions ask ing them to make another game but not screw it up like they did with Street Fighter 4

I should have been asleep 6 hours ago. I spent 4 hours of that glewed into the screen playing through the final stages of the game. Only to now try to recover from the shock and dissapointment of the ending.

Go home, I'll go to bed. I think I will be able to sleep now .

But once again, that doesn't mean their opinions will be ignored or dismissed out of hand. They are all still community members and have still given their feedback. Like if you don't believe in ghosts, even if 10,000 people tell you there's a ghost in the closet, you'll still be skeptical of a ghost, but you'll likely figure that something is up to cause so many people to beleive it's a ghost. Maybe it's really nothing, maybe it's Old Man Jenkins in a ghost costume, maybe a ghost really does exist.

But all that data still has to figure in your decision-making in some form, however small.

I think it was a good idea to talk to folks, Mr. Woo. A "We are listening" on several fronts (I know you've said it on twitter) is much better than stony silence.

That said, I am waiting for a response to this ending issue and hope for an "official" reply soon.

just wanted to point out (in regards to the polls not being accurate) that theres a lot of people out there who dont get on forums and vote on stuff like this...take me for example despite being a longtime fan of bioware I only just recently joined the BSN in order to keep track of any updates on the endings but I have a lot of friends and friends of friends from college and whatnot who simply dont do stuff like this (normally I dont either actually)

despite all that everyone I've talked to in person or heard of from friends have been very disappointed by the endings...the general feeling is that the game was utter perfection right up until that last 15 minutes where it just sort of jarringly derailed before going out with a whimper

Ive heard it compared to how The Sopranos ended with a black screen mid sentence in that it retroactively ruined what would have otherwise been an incredible series

personally Ive loved every minute of Mass Effect until that last sequence but the ending left me feeling sad and empty and frankly its hard to enjoy the game as it deserves with such a disappointing ending overshadowing what should have easily been the game of the year

Stan do you think an ending that resulted in depressed and enraged fans that cannot bear to replay the game was a good call? Or would adding in some new ending options so we can go back to happily playing and mindlessly spending on dlc be a bit better?
