Someone already said it, (Probably more than one person), but if Mass Effect 3 had Ended before a certain Elevator takes you into "WTFLAND", I would have been content.
The preferred ending by Ridley Scott does just such a thing in Blade Runner. That was before the studio forced a (longer) happy ending on him. Thankfully we have "director's cut" available nowadays.
I would very much prefer a proper and complex ending in line with the series theme up to this point, but if a well crafted ending wasn't possible, it would've been better to just cut the last parts out.
As the game seems a bit disjointed in other parts and obviously missing a lot of stuff, all this debacle is likely due to a forced deadline by EA. What saddens me is that BioWare didn't just say that we need more time, regardless of fiscal years or some such. ME1 and DA:O made me look at BioWare as true artists, and artists shouldn't compromise with their creative goals. Despite some unncessary changes in ME2 that I didn't agree with, that game is still overall very satisfying and didn't seem as rushed as ME3.
The good parts of the game (Mordin and Wrex stories for example) is as good as it ever got in ME1 and 2. So obviously the talent is still there, and that makes me somewhat hopeful for the future.
