Many of you might know the epic tale by Ken Follett. I am wondering for
years how to make an actual game out of this medieval drama. This
module I want to make is not the typical fantasy action based one, but
a realistic experience of a story. It will be less fighting based and
more story and conversation oriented. As I don't have the experience to
make this alone I would like to get help from level designers and 3d
artists so that we can build this to the full potential it has. As this
is mainly a story driven game, we will be able to hand it out in
chapters. This way we can give people something early on so that
they will keep excited about it. We will also get comments that we
can take with us in the new chapters.

I want to create a story where you will play as different characters
throughout the game, with a more dynamic approach to the story.
Of course I need to change the script of the book to be more free
and playable but I want it to stick to the main story. This way you
wont be forced 1 way to play it. And you will be given freedom
to make decisions that will effect the game. Because there isn't a lot
of fighting in the story itself I want to make side quests for those
who need some more action. And ofcourse there will be random enemies
througout the maps.

Main focus of this module:

*Playing through an epic story with different main characters.
*A realistic and historical accurate setting. (no fantasy)
*Interactive medieval drama
*New level system based on the progess of the game.

Hopefully some of you have read the book and see this has great potential to become a popular module.
If you are interested in helping out please give me a pm.

If there is enough intrest in this project I will write a full concept and script for the first chapter.

Greetings,

Reinout

I've read the book. It's very good, yes. But I don't think it would suit Dragon Age very well, first of all it would be a huge project for someone to take on and... yeah, that's it, I think.

It could just be because it is early days, Grag. Personally, I am steering clear of anything that is not based on the DA Lore, so that I can utilize existing assets as much as possible. The huge mega projects need large groups of dedicated folks, so give it time. If it's a great idea, eventually enough of the right folks will jump on board!

BTW -- I liked the Ken Follett books a lot, but not enough to spend copious amounts of time making a mod based on that world. Sorry.
