Well, I wouldn't be going to the movie even if they hadn't botched the game, so maybe I shouldn't be voting; but... no.

If it were about Shepard, I'd be put off by it not being "my Shepard," and if it wasn't about Shepard, why would I be interested?

Thanks for all the replies. I hadn't seen anything about the movies after the "ending" forums started up, so I thought I'd provoke a conversation and see what you guys think.
Another question, If you were to make the movies. What would you have done story wise to make it something you would watch after these endings?

They already said that the movie they're planning is going to be based off the first game. I don't see how changing the end of the third is really going to affect the movie.

Wikipedia: On May 24, 2010, EA announced that Legendary Pictures, Warner Bros. acquired the rights to a Mass Effect film, with the game's executive producer Casey Hudson, as well as Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuck from BioWare, serving as executive producers. Legendary plans to produce the film withThomas Tull, Jon Jashni, and Avi Arad, with a screenplay by Mark Protosevich.[26] Protosevich and the producers have stated that the film will follow the plot of the original game.

Here's the info for the anime: Mass Effect: Paragon Lost: On April 7, 2011, EA announced that anime distributor Funimation Entertainment and Japanese studio T.O Entertainment will produce an anime film adaptation based on the series. The film will be released in the summer of 2012.[28] It serves as the prequel to Mass Effect 3 and follows the early career of Alliance Marine, James Vega as he leads an elite Special Forces squad into battle against The Collectors. Stationed at a colony in a remote star system, Vega and his soldiers must protect the civilians from a ruthless invasion determined to capture the population for unknown purposes.

And apparently someone is making a fan movie:Red Sand (2012) is a fan film that serves as a prequel to the Mass Effect series. It is set 35 years before the plot of the games and tells the story of the discovery of the ancient Prothean ruins of Mars. The film stars Mark Meer, voice of the male version of Commander Shepard in the games, as Colonel Jon Grissom. It was produced by the students and faculty of the Digital Video Program at the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, Arizona.

Its funny, when I first heard they were making a Mass Effect movie I had hope because one of the guys on the project said that "one of the great things about mass effect is that its universe is so expansive, that we can make something really interesting." Then came comicon last year and they announced:
  • Seth Green won't be playing Joker
  • The plot will follow Mass Effect 1
So much for making it interesting :(

I probably would but I'd walk out at the first sign of magical space children.

And It'd be a disappointment most likely anyway, unless they held it close to home like Ubisoft is doing with Assassin's Creed. Hollywood directors love to spin things into entirely different directions.

To be honest, They could just condense the plot of the first ME game into a 3 hour movie and be almost an exact clone and I'd love it, I don't need it or want it to be any different.

I was never big on the idea of trying to adapt it into a film anyway. To many variables to account for. How would one decide the canon Shepard anyway?

Now if they made it a prequel following Anderson or maybe even The Illusive Man (villain protagonist). I just may be interested. Heck Yvonne Strahovski could even make a cameo at the end.

I would only be interested if they did something in the lore, but I would stay the hell away from it if it was an adaptation of the first game.

I wouldn't be surprised if they put in an intermission and made people buy another ticket to go back and watch the rest of the movie.

Since it will be based on the first Mass Effect game, which had an amazing and coherent story, then yes, assuming it doesn't get universally panned.

the movie will be a pg-13 twilight inspired mess, focusing alot on shepard and his LI to get the largest female audience possible, probably disrespecting all fans and the game, no krogan or salarian or turian will feature, or they'll be changed completely, so no, i'll give it a miss.

Also, no.

I lol'd.

And as the ending stands now who would want to see a movie (presumably a trilogy) that is going to end like that? Not me.

Would never pay to see it considering it's probably going to be garbage. I would most likely just pirate it tbh.
