And guess what - you can't zoom the camera right in on your character. The camera stops way before you get a close up of your character's face.
This is SO disappointing. Why bother having such an elaborate character creation utility when you can't even zoom in on your character! It's even worse than Mass Effect. You feel like you're about ten miles away from your character?
And seriously, you guys actually prefer this? Wow. I sure don't. All the charm of being able to zoom right in and swivel the camera around on my character as my character walks up the street is gone. This feels EXACTLY like Jade Empire. I feel like I'm playing an action game here?
And yes is the PC.
Huge, huge, disappointment.
I take this as a positive. The worst thing about the game is that you can't zoom in on your character and look at it's face while you're walking or in combat. WHAT!?!?!?!?! WTFBBQ!!!?11!!!
Seriously? Your biggest complaint about a game is that you can't be making out with the character from the camera.
You are comparing this to a game from a different developer. It sounds like KoTOR and ME. Both of which Bioware actually produced. Should've saved your money and bought a life sized doll since that's what it sounds like you're more interested in.
I hope the biggest complaint I have about this game is that I can't be in my character's face which is pointless anyway as it has no practical application besides your obsession.
And the level of character detail is more for cut-scenes and conversations than walking around town admiring your creation, which is basically virtual masturbation.
Sorry for extended response but your post just frustrates me and makes little sense and you don't seem to understand what everyone else is saying, you are just complaining to complain and whining just to whine.

And to the guy who said that NWN 2 was made by Obsidian, and not Bioware - come on, guy, do you actually believe that I don't know that. I'm well aware that Neverwinter Nights 2 was made by Obsidian.
And you should be aware that a huge number of people who played NWN 2 will be playing this - why, because NWN was made by Bioware of course! This is an RPG! I am shocked... completely shocked... that this game won't allow me to click on the ground and walk my character to its destination. I have to run, run, run everywhere. Or, like I said, steer my character slowly over from behind.
That just kills the atmosphere. I can't zoom in. I can't walk. I can't pan the camera around while my character is moving.
I don't want to play a fantasy version of Jade Empire, which is EXACTLY what movement in this game feels like. Clearly, this is a console decision. Clearly, the console gamers are going to want to run everywhere, and not take the time to pan in on their character, and clearly Bioware has made the decision to please them.
Wow, is this ever an 'epic fail'.

And yes, to the OP, according to the manual you can do a lot of what you're finding missing. Right-click on the ground to move to that location, for example, or right-click and drag to rotate the camera.

How about you play instead of post, except we all know you don't actually have the game and are just creating posts to stir up trouble.

and thats why we pc gamers choose pc versions. You can open a console and use the camera commands to set the pitch, zoom and everything else. Allowing free costmization of the camera and other things that have to do with settings.

Okay, how many of us are coming from Neverwinter Nights 2 - well, you know how many camera options they gave us there. A lot. Here, there are virtually none at all.
This feels like Jade Empire.
Awesome!
I absolutely hated the camera controls in NWN2 and much prefer console style steering of the characters to point and click flying through the sky.

You have to stare at your character's ass the whole time.

And why would I want to swivel the camera around my character while I'm doing this? Because of immersion. I'm not playing Jade Empire here. I'm playing an RPG, and half the fun is just living in the world. I want to move the camera around on my character. This is the reason I took all the trouble to begin with in creating the look of my character.
And yes, there's no way to zoom the camera up close on your character. The camera stops so that you feel like you're standing about fifteen feet away.
And to those of you who feel the need to belittle me by claiming that I don't have a copy of the game, and am just making this up - yeah right, I'm just making this up. Yeah, right. Okay, you don't have to post here anymore since this is all just made up.

Everything you said you have a problem with, I have no problems at all, everything works fine. It is easy to zoom in and out, turning the camera, everything. I find it far superior to NWN2 in that regard.

Guy, are you serious?
Yes, I 'tried right clicking' - and the camera automatically swivels around, and your character runs to where you clicked.
This is the reason I walked away from The Witcher - just ruins the atmosphere. And again, to repeat myself, I utterly hate having to steer my character around. This isn't Call Of Duty. I don't want to jump onto my character and take it for a ride.
Honestly, this is just a complete failure.
