"Love means you feel close to someone and care deeply about their welfare, mixed with the desire to marry and/or have sex with them. Usually, men and women are this for each other, but on rare occasions, this can happen between two men and/or two women. For reasons of tradition, in some social circles love between two men or two women is seen as a violation of the rules; therefore, it is usually best to avoid discussing the topic if you are among people who are highly traditional."

So I would say that if you know that a game has content you will find objectionable, (and it is your job and DUTY as a parent to explore this before hand, it's right there on the label and has been discussed here on the forums for months), YOU need to find a way to ensure your child doesn't see it. Sit with him while he games and help guide him so that he won't see it. He will get time with his parent, which will mean the world to him, and give you peace of mind.

In answer to the original post, here is my suggestion on what to tell your child:
"Love means you feel close to someone and care deeply about their welfare, mixed with the desire to marry and/or have sex with them. Usually, men and women are this for each other, but on rare occasions, this can happen between two men and/or two women. For reasons of tradition, in some social circles love between two men or two women is seen as a violation of the rules; therefore, it is usually best to avoid discussing the topic if you are among people who are highly traditional."
And I second this post as a very reasonable answer to his questions. Remember he's not looking for birds and bees, he just wants a context in which to understand what's happened. This is likely an entirely new idea for him. I think this gives him a way to fit it into what he likely already understands without being either evasive or condesending.

lol, yep, trolling.
Pretty funny one though.
I resent this accusation. My son is traumatize as it is without these baseless accusation being flung around.
Kids are traumatized if their parents want. They see everything as equal and without prejudice.
Goddamn trolls.

I questioned the wisdom of letting a 10 year old play the game on another thread and got chided for armchair parenting.
Yeah, not much you can do about that. But if that's your opinion, stick to it. "Armchair parenting " seems to have been used as a way to be dismissive of your opinion, rather then as a statement that you were telling them what to do. If anything, that's what I was guilty of here.

you let your 6 year old son play mass effect 3? are you serious?
We all know 6 year olds need to see blood and gore. And have their avatar die. It creates character...
Oh wait, you were talking about the homosexuality? <_<
After my son finished investigating the lab where Cerberus was experimenting on people, Kaiden kissed his PC, and I was like 'oh noes! this is not appropriate for a child to see!'
"Sometimes men fall in love with one another" seems easier than "Sometimes men stick their penis into a woman's vagina, ejaculate sperm, some of which swims into her body and meets with an egg she releases every 28 days. One sperm penetrates the egg and initiates rapid cell growth that over the course of nine months becomes a baby."Bank92 wrote...
Explaining homosexuality might be harder than where does babies come from.
But that might just be me.

Oh no! Sin, sin!!!
He killed 2000000 people, it doesn't matter, they kissed each other how unnatural!

Yes it is, the sexual content maybe, 11 years old is ok.
Killing and blowing heads for a 6 years old is a free pass for stupidity, bigotry and zero respect. They start to kill things with no reason, like my cousin. I asked him why did he shoot the woman in the face when she was only a innocent who got shot, answer "Because it's fun". And this is translated into real life, kids shouting they should kill them all, I support war, I'm going to enlist... that is sick and twisted.

His shep and Kaiden kissed and romanced, I guess he picked the dialogue options to be nice to him and it led to a homosexual romance with kaiden, now he's asking me all these strange questions about 2 guys.
Have read this several times, and can't figure out the disturbing part.
Or have you been indoctrinated to believe that romance between 2 humans is bad, and that Shepherd should have gone for the female Krogan? Or one of the Vorcha?
Or maybe, just maybe, you shouldn't have let a 6yo play a game that is designed with adult content?

In my defense, I saw a baby dinosaur do it on TV and it looked like a sound idea at the time.
