Arcane Horrors are immune to Spirit Damage
Electric Damage damages stamina
Fire Damage deals additional damage to Undead
Cold deals double damage to fire demons
No idea what's special about Spirit Damage other than it's like of immune enemies

Electric is best damage, cold is best utility but undead are pretty much immune to it. Arcane horrors are plenty easy to insta gib with Mana clash. Fireball is decent but that's it. Not worth investing Storm of the century is miles ahead of firestorm. Spirit damage's unique quality is that it is pretty much useable on anything.

Undead are also immune to cold damage. However, that doesn't mean they are immune to the freezing of cone of cold.

To be fair, Arcane Horrors are retardedly easy to kill with a pointy stick. I don't find this to be much of a draw back for spirit damage.

I'm not sure if Arcane Horrors are immune to spirit...doesn't Mana Clash kill them? I remember it killing them anyways...if so they can't be immune to spirit since Mana Clash does spirit damage

I prefer having some crystals from every kind. For example, if something is immune toi something, I will switch. Sometimes it's annoying, but it's needed. In the current play through, I have spirit crystals currently, and along with 3 grand master elemental runes of the Keening blade, I have to say it's quite a nice rainbow

The best thing about Shale is that you can always switch to the kind of Elemental damage that hits your enemy the hardest.

The stats on the Fire crystals are the best for a melee Shale.
Green are probably best for tanking and Ice are best for off-tanking. Only time I use Spirit is when if I take Shale with me to fight the Arch Demon. Lightning is well...not so useful to me.

Judging by the fact that I have killed Arcane Horrors solely through Crushing Prison I'd say they are not immune to spirit damage.
Spirit Damage also gets damage Golems 100% too.

As stated by themaxzero, I've used Crushing Prison on Arcane Horrors to good effect.
I also find it difficult at times to determine who the "Immune" statement applies to during a close fight - me or the enemy.
