The option to kill or kick Cortez off the ship?

After that first "Here we go again" moment, Cortez is a pretty great character. That is precisely because he's designed to be a great character, rather than a gay character: he's not defined by his sexual preference. His banter with Vega, which I immediately worried was going to turn into some homophobia lesson for the crew, was excellent and perfectly in line with both characters. Cortez's pain is poignant and comes across as real, as is the help you can give him along the way.
He works and was a great addition to the Normandy.

Yes, I did. I am not going to go into it, but I went back to work the next day, and while I mourn the loss, I definitely have not brought it up at work.

I'm really not one to call people out for being homophobic but if you wanted to kick him out of an airlock the moment he mentioned his husband, as one poster said, you are homophobic.
That would be me and I am not homophobic thank you . I just dislike the ****** thing . That's just how I feel sorry.

I will agree with this, that most of his conversations (except the Grizzly Bear reference which had me laughing) had zero to do with his sexual orientation, as it should be. Kind of like they dropped Traynor's orientation but for the rest of the game, I don't believe it ever came up - because sexual orientation shouldn't matter.

Um, what does "dislike the ****** thing" mean if you aren't homophobic? It's not a disease, you're not going to catch "the gay" and start listening to the Village People or something.

The military doesn't dehumanize you, jack. The whole point is forming cohesive units within units into one force. You're supposed to be comrades. The military doesn't make you a terrible person, you're just naturally a terrible person

To be more precise, his husband was lost at Ferris Fields, which I believe happens during ME2 between Freedom's Progress and Horizon.

"Your husband was abducted by Collectors?! That must mean he was melted to squishy puddles of liquidfied DNA to make a human reaper on a Collector ship! Neat huh?!"

They are trained to be able to disconnect but they still feel it one way or another, hence why there is a lot of smoking and drinking and hooker-seeking.
