To be more precise, his husband was lost at Ferris Fields, which I believe happens during ME2 between Freedom's Progress and Horizon.

I would hope Shepard would be sensitive enough to not mention what happened to the abductees.

"Your husband was abducted by Collectors?! That must mean he was melted to squishy puddles of liquidfied DNA to make a human reaper on a Collector ship! Neat huh?!"

Cortez:

Considering some of the Renegade things Shep can do in ME3... I would sadly not be surprised if this was an option.

I will agree with this, that most of his conversations (except the Grizzly Bear reference which had me laughing) had zero to do with his sexual orientation, as it should be.  Kind of like they dropped Traynor's orientation but for the rest of the game, I don't believe it ever came up - because sexual orientation shouldn't matter.

Yeah, he's just a guy torn up about the love of his life being gone, yet still dedicates himself to doing the best he can on a daily basis. That's something I think Bioware does extremely well. You could swap the gender of nearly anyone in the game, leaving the dialogue untouched, and the impact of the character would still as powerful. For the most part, they design three-dimensional characters.

There isn't any "don't ask, don't tell" in this universe either.

You people who claim they're supposed to be military professions - and therefore should show no emotion - are so obviously not military professionals.

Yes but my Dad is and thats how he was trained, if a dude came up to me crying about his dead wife I'd punch him in the face

That seems sociopathic...

I would agree.

well yes your right, but in truth I'd just tell him to ****** off

They are trained to be able to disconnect but they still feel it one way or another, hence why there is a lot of smoking and drinking and hooker-seeking.

No they're not, and no they don't. Stop watching 30+ year old action movies. Any military member worth a crap is a military member at heart for life. They don't become degenerates unless they already were

Well, I actually don't mind this character, he is a good guy. I hate his name though. I always like it when Bioware does something to help get to know who your crew is (non party members) because there is so much crew you will never actually know it is kind of disconnecting and this help create that connection more. As far as Cortez being a homosexual, it seems like we include gays in movies and games just to normalize it. Still doesn't make it normal though seems kind of abstract to me because I know they are only adding it in for that reason.

Sorry but I know too many first-hand's to know you're wrong. They call it "Kudos points" and we'll leave it there.

In any case, it's not so much degenerate as much as normal in today's society to be honest.

Damn, no thumbs up emoticon.  Oh well.

I remember when DADT was first implemented, people were pointing out that the Israeli military welcomed homosexuals and they really didn't have much of an issue kicking ass.

It's not assault and battery, so it is a little better.

I'm really not one to call people out for being homophobic but if you wanted to kick him out of an airlock the moment he mentioned his husband, as one poster said, you are homophobic.

thats your opinion, not fact

Honestly I do not see how Cortez's sexuality changes everything, we look at Cortez and say he is the gay guy but don't say hey that is Joker the straight guy.

Im there with you. I wish Bioware added an option to kick him off the ship through airlock. Hate this character

Gotta admit I felt the same way about Ash andKaiden and Miranda and Jacob...
but got over it after subsequent playthroughs had me literally exploring every option in the game.
Just saying once your extremely bored and wanting the just kill the last bits left of the game...
Okay your never going to romance him, but you'll be less aggitated by him over time.Posted Image

Sorry to burst your bubble but your "first-hands" don't deserve to be called soldiers or Marines or anything if they act like that, while in service or afterward. Serving is about much, much more than volunteering to eat bullets

It's my opinion that wanting to kill off a character because he's gay is homophobic, yes. I'd love to see the reaction if someone said "When I realized Jacob was black I wanted to throw him out of an airlock."

Jacob was black?

(or as Homer Simpson once said: "Mel Brooks is Jewish?!?!?")

The people who dislike him just because he's gay are wrong, and the people who say anyone who dislikes him does so because he is gay are also wrong. I don't care that he was gay, I hated him as a character, and he really agitated me. Probably one of the more annoying characters in the series.
