I've been having problems with this for a while now, a friend set up an xbox account for me and DIDN'T use my email address, but his own. It caused a lot of  problems with dlc and such. i eventually got it linked with my ea account my(this) bioware account. Unfortunately my xbox refuses to let me change which email address i use to login to either ea or bioware account. i got him to close his accounts and all it says is that it can't find it.

I don;t even get the option to choose which account i login with! With Mass Effect 2 it's not a big issue, i still have access to all my dlc and such, but on dragon age 2 it won't let me login change or do anything involving the email address, therefore making sure i can't use my weapons that i got for preordering(which will soon be useless). It has got even worse in Mass Effect 3, which won't let me register the game or do anything online at all.

All i want to do is make everything link up properly, how can i do this?
(For the record i have tried asking EA, they told me to ask bioware, who soundly ignored me)

Any and all help will be appreciated.

Thank you.

There's a sense of confusion when I read the details in your post, but ultimately the only ones who can help you are EA support (I think), but that really depends what the precise problem at stake is.

I am rather confused as to whether it is a Gamertag problem you are trying to convey or an EA account one; and what your friend closing his accounts means (question that comes to mind is how is that related to your situation).

You may need to clarify those points to those who are supposed to help you.

fair enough. its kind of a snowballed problem. I'm pretty confused as well. On my xbox i can't log in to my ea/bioware account, i don't even have the option of choosing one. the problem stems from my friend who made the xbox account, he used his email address instead of mine, now everything just automatically thinks that's the email address i'm using.

So when i try to login on Dragon Age 2 or Mass effect 3, It just doesn't. It says i can't and thats that, not even an option to change which account i try to login with.

I have tried asking EA(even though there should really be an option to do it yourself). But another problem arose! Turns out i misspelt my gamertag when adding it as a persona to my ea account...or something, its not really that clear. And because my actual gamertag is linked to my friends now defunct account, i can't link it to the right account. Which is insane, why can't they just delete the damn account and let me link it myself?

The solution would be to unlink from the dead account(which they aren't allowed to do for some reason), replace the misspelt gamertag with the right one, and then i can probably find a way to change which email is associated with my gamertag myself. Problem is i can do none of that.
EA help is pretty much useless in my opinion now.

meh: start your own thread. It is impolite to highjack someone else's thread where their problem is still being clarified or aided. Also, the issue you are posting is unrelated to Berserk's making it off-topic.

Berserk, that's quite a bit there. So...let's try and get the little things sorted out. Your current Gamertag uses, or used, an email your friend had. It is possible to change the Windows Live ID from the 360 itself; I believe the option is in accounts.

Now depending on your account here, more specifically what email you are using, I believe changing that Windows Live ID for your Gamertag to match this email would sort things out pretty much as required. (Single email makes things a lot simpler, but this does assume you using a hotmail address to begin with. Or if possible, make a new hotmail account and switch all the accounts to that email.)

I don't think anyone has managed to find a way of choosing a different EA account on console. For ME3 it didn't even have me log into my account as such, things were automated from my first EA game (Dragon Age: Origin) and the option to create an account had seemingly gone forever. I await for someone to come up with a solution to that for future troubleshooting purposes.

The change to Origin has complicated things. Previously you could add or change Personas and default accounts at will, but that is no longer possible or as simple. EA support should be able to assist ('should' being the key word, whether they will is another matter), and reports here as to their....proficiency is rather low, or more accurately rather hit-and-miss. No consolation and often it's a matter of contacting again and hoping someone competent deals with you.

As for the possible misspelt Gamertag....that is a problem. If true it could mean someone else's Gamertag has been added to that EA account rather than your own.

See if that change in email tactic I mentioned earlier will give you any joy first though. Not sure what else can be added after that but it's a start.

Yeah i know what you mean. As soon as he told me, i found out a way to change it, and i did, but it doesn't change the email associated with the xbox according to ea, which makes me really wish microsoft had a bit more power over accounts and such. At least they're helpful.

I don't get why you're so railroaded with EA, it's like "Do this exactly right the first time or it will never work, forever" which really makes me regret sticking in a random birthdate because i had no idea for the crapfest i was in for..

This is kind of a problem with console versions of things, there is no option besides existing one that happens to be the exact same as your email address, or new. It's so inflexible i'm surprised ea hasnt be inundated with angry letters and emails.

I've done some searching and you apparantly CAN change the email address but you have to download a demo or like madden or something. It's dated last year and with the account changes it might not work anyway.

I would prefer not to have to make a new email address, new ea account/bioware account and things because everything is linked to the same address. and I REALLY don't want to have to re-earn 14k gamerscore.

I feel like i'm missing out on so much without the multiplayer, sounds and looks like a lot of fun.
Anyway, Thanks OBaka. I appreciate your efforts in trying to help, I hope ea improves their account system soon.
