Hello everybody, im thinking on creating a Death Knight type character using a mage with AW and BM, is this going to work? and if it works, how should be my stats? and the spells? and what type of weapons i need to use? shield, 2h or dw?
Arcane Warrior + Blood mage = Blood Knight? how?

I've heard many good things about the AW/BM combo. Stats you'd want to focus on are Magic and Constitution. Not too sure about the ideal weapons, but you don't get any weapon talents. I've heard good things about DW, though. There's an Arcane Warrior-only weapon that drops in the Caverns during the Urn of Sacred Ashes quest. Might want to look out for it.

AW/BW combo? XD as long as you have enough magic to use the best armors and con enough to the spells you like ( to cast spells only, because enemies will hit you 1hp ) you can unspent the rest of the points. Maybe you can get 30 astuce to get the dialog options, because the rest of the thing is useless.. mostly playing is use all buffs you have and select next enemy and thit them with normal attack. well you can cast some spells if you get sleepy eye in the dungeons.
really, i went to bath without pausing game in the legion of death tunnels and the guy is alive still when i retourn.
Yeah, i deleted the character and made a rogue, that bore me to death XD

AW/BW is the strongest combination in game right now. If you build it correctly you can tank 20 targets at the same time. Take 1 damage a hit and still cast spells AND do high melee damage.

Yeah...
The comments that you need the best armor to make it work and need to "build it right" are utterly false. It's almost impossible to build it wrong. The only feasible way to do that is to not invest in the AW line and the abilities that increase damage mitigation. If you're building an AW and you think it's a good idea to not grab damage mitigation abilities... no one can help you.
The game scales. I used the XP cheat to get to level 17 before I even left orzamar. I don't even need to use blood magic. I'm wearing Allistair's splintmail, a leather (inscribed) hat, using Allistairs sword and Allistair's shield... And my AW can solo nightmare already. Even with medium armor he takes next to no damage. I can't even imagine putting him in juggernaut.
A fully developed AW can solo this game on nightmare in auto attack. If you want the fights to go quicker you can take the BM specialization and cast spells using your health (you'll never have mana).
Mages and Templar's will be your enemies. So that's the only other thing you could screw up on. Get an ability to handle those enemies. This is easily done with mana clash for mages and just about any CC spell for templar's. CoC is typically my choice. But my AW looked like this:
AW through Fade Shroud
BM, first ability
Mana Clash
Mass Paralysis
Stone Fist
Force Field
I only played through the intro and the Dalish camp quests (sided with the Dalish and killed the werewolves) and I basically never used any abilities but my armor buffs. I never needed them. And this is soloing on nightmare with tier 1 medium armor, tier two long sword and tier two shield. I probably couldn't solo Flemeth or the High Dragon like that but I'm confident if I gave my guy juggernaut or superior dragon scale he'd breeze through those boss fights in auto attack too without ever needing to use anything but sustained abilities.
It's really a pity. Like so many other Cleric and Battlemage fans, I was really looking forward to AW. It's by far the most boring class to play.

So you used an XP cheat to get to level 17 before leaving Orzamar, then **** about it being boring to play?
For me the challenge of the Arcane was getting it in the first place. You endure a lot of time with inappropriate skills just waiitng for the class to arrive. Once there, yes, its fun.
But people who cheat and then complain the game is boring deserve to have their head bashed into a desk repeatedly in the hope it'll give them some common sense.

Lol. Well all of us play differently but hes got some valid points. A melee AW resorts to sustains and auto-atk as they do not have melee talents. He can ofc spellcast (tho not as effectively) but those are traits of his normal mage talents and not his AW spec. Depending on your build, his auto-atk hits hard but thats about it. You might find yourself preferring to spellcast more to add variety to his offence. This is coming from someone who has play an AW/BM kinda normally.SebitarUK wrote...

I agree with an AW's early game. It is tricky as he is not really developed well enough to melee. You will probably spellcast up to lvl10-12 before consistenly melee. You will have some restriction on talent selection too as you need to pre-empt your AW with sustainables like rock armour, arcane etc.
