Anyone else carrying this helm for most of the game? I never get a chance to fully equip a set armor because this helm is much better than the dragon helm or the Legion helm. So im never full set armored even though id enjoy walking around in a full set that actually works well as a whole. Mismatched is so fugly

I had the same issue for a good portion of the game - then, at one point, I just went "screw this, I have enough stat bonuses anyway, might as well look good" and gave it to one of the NPCs so I could wear the full set of Legion of the Dead armor.

You don't need the legion helmet to get the set bonus. I also prefer open helmets since I want to see the characters' faces.

I kept the helm since I found it though. Which shows that it is overpowered.

It's DLC. They want it to be overpowered so you buy it.

Good. That gives me reassurance about not getting any of the downloadable items. :)

Shale is worth it, helmet or not. Nothing forces you to keep the helmet and Shale is an interesting companion...so...

In my game Alistair is still wearing this helm. Definitely overpowered since none of the other helms hold up.

I know you don't need the helmet. I made the change because I wanted my character to look cooler.

Honestly, I just avoid wearing helms altogether...personally, it just feels, altogether, far too impersonal for my liking, if I'm honest.

Note* I felt the need to stress just how personal and honest this choice really is :D

Ahhh it's DLC of course.

I got the stone prisoner with the game, didn't really think of it as DLC and it was one of the first places I visited on my first playthrough.

I'm now just past the landsmeet and I have not yet found a replacement for this helm.

I sold it. None of my characters wear helmets, I'm afraid. They just look better without them.

Most of the helms aren't really interesting, However my first playthrough I had my warrior in full Effort armor (IMO, it looked cool), Sten had legion of the dead full, and alistar had juggernaut full. At least in Dragon Age, when a female warrior is wearing full massive/plate armor and helm, somebody else couldn't just walk in and instantly go "Aha! thats a female character).

Agreed.

Though, towards the end of the game when I got "Corruption", I have to admit, I went and stuck that on my char (only because I was more or less done with the playthrough though.)

Whatever happened to the most powerful items just being called the most powerful items?

I could see taking issue with the fact that you get the items right at the start - but many of the pre-order or CE items outgrow their usefulness fast (Memory Band?) and others might not fit themes.

But, again, if you simply cannot use something unless it is the absolute pinnacle of said thing, then you should be HAPPY to have the best item. *shrug*

I may never understand the dichotomy of needing to find the best (combos, builds, items) and then complaining when you do find the best and it is actually better than the rest.

i find a lot of helmets kinda unattractive too. thing is, the effort/duty helmet looks absolutely amazing :)

I'm still using it only because they don't have any hoods or hats for rogues, just those ugly rugby helms. Alot of the set bonuses are only +3 or so, so I go for looks above stats :) Right now Allistairs rocking out the duty helm with the legion armor set, looks awesome.

I hate helms overall because they get in the way of the face and obscure the hair. I love that they don't show in conversation... but I hate running around the world that way still. But the mage hats look unbelievably stupid. Like, I can't believe it was possible to collect so much stupid in one place. Really hate those. They look like colorful dunce caps with the occasional teeth as a brim.

Well, the actual full helms tend to look pretty good, Templar helm, Duty, Juggernaut, Legion.

In dragon age? Cause when my warrior was in full Effort armor + helm (Female char) in the one duel, the armor wasn't massively announcing "Hey! female warrior!". Now with heavy to light armor, yes its pretty clear between male and female armors, Massive armor doesn't really change besides overall size.

On the subject of pre-order/CE items and this particular thread... the only other helm that competes with Helm of Honnleath is Bergen's Honour (which was one of the CE items, I believe).

My warrior wears one, Alistair wears the other.

As for the complaining; you can't please everyone. Either the DLC/Preorder/CE items are junk so people **** about them being worthless, or they're good and someone else ****es about them being too powerful.

...or they don't exist at all, and people who enjoy every extra they can get (like me) complain. ;)

Wear the Warden commander armor. I did that on my Rogue archer. Works great. I gave Bergen's Honor to Oghren who wears the Legion set, which strangely, does not include the associated helm for the bonus.

The Helm of Honnleath looks good with the massive Dragonscale armor btw.

I really wish bioware would incorporate an option to disable the "showing" of helms, like they do in world of warcraft. Helmless characters really do look better more often than not.
