Helm of Honnleath better than you

Also been duplicating weapons I get, so I can keep the weapon and shield styles I like while copying the bonuses of a weapon I obtain.
Works out pretty well, I look cooler, but since I duplicate a specific piece of gear I'm not making overpowered gear for myself.

It's on my main character rogue, even though it's a heavy armor piece, because - well - I too dislike how the rogue helms look, like some stupid sock cap or Jayne hat ...
Actually, if it looked a tad more like a Jayne hat, then I'd love for a future male character I create to wear it!

For me it wasn't about the gear in game to gether it was more about getting enough gold to buy all the books to pad my stats even more and get all those recipes to make the expensive pots later in game.

I've started to use the Winter Forge mod to add the stats from a helm to other armor pieces, because I can't stand wearing a helm.

I'm definitely gonna start doing this. I spend too much off this game with crappy gear because I dislike how certain pieces of equipment look. How much does the Winter Forge mod allow you to change? Could I, for instance, change an axe model to have the same stats as a sword (including damage, crit chance, armor penetration, etc), or does it only allow for the modding of the bonuses (the things in green). Can I change the number of rune slots? Could I mod a helmet to have the same stats as a mage cap (including removing the str requirement, fatigue penalty, etc)?

Give it some time and a new release of the tool set to edit the game directly. People will put out some equpiment packs to give you a broader variety of gear in game. That helmets is tops though and impossible to beat with other drops in game. Considering all stats affect your character in some way adding +3 to them all is obscenely good.

This is where all my gold goes, too.
I'm addicted to poison recipes, and cannot say no to more skill points!

The Helm of Honnleath looks good with the massive Dragonscale armor btw.
Yep I noticed that too. It "fits" with that set nicely.

But I eventually had to replace it for ugly leather armor and helmet for better effectiveness
Hm, actually Shale is the only thing I did download. Haven't played it yet, though. So the helmet is part of that package? Great, now I'll be tempted to use it after all I guess.Ulrik the Slayer wrote...
Shale is worth it, helmet or not. Nothing forces you to keep the helmet and Shale is an interesting companion...so...

If you go to the brecillian forest first and are badass enough to kill the revenants you get a full set of some of the best armor for 85% of the game.

In any case, I don't think I'll ever replace them. If they don't go on the PC, it'll end up on Sten, Orgrhen, or Alistair.

IF you are badass enough to kill the revenants, and if you have 38 str. The Juggernaut Plate is tier 6 armor, not tier 2 like the helm, and it is much more difficult to acquire. Those revenants aren't as badass as the black vial ones or Gaxkang, but they are still very hard fights especially with all the adds they come with. You have to earn that armor through several very tough encounters that you probably won't be able to do when you first try them. Not to mention the fact that the Helm of Honnleath has far better stats than any of the juggernaut plate pieces. +3 armor and +2 to all attributes is enormous, far better than the Juggernaut Plate helm which it is being compared to.

I really wish bioware would incorporate an option to disable the "showing" of helms, like they do in world of warcraft. Helmless characters really do look better more often than not.
The mod below does that. It unequips helmet outside combat and equips it every new battle.
