Least and most favorite Blight quest

What's your least and most favorite of the Blight quests?

Myself, I nearly stopped playing at Orzammar so much I was tired of crawling around. After a while, stone ceilings get really boring. I think I've seen enough underground dwarven caves for years... The first part where there's lot of talking was okay but not as fun as the rest of the game, I didn't really feel anything about it. Both candidates were boring, there was no humor, no emotional connection with anything(I played as Dalish though). And then... the dungeon crawling started... Thaig if chose Aeducan, thief hideout, crossroads, Ortan Thaig, Dead Trenches and FINALLY Anvil of the Void. I'm a completist and it took loads of time to explore everything compared to what had to be done and the stuff discover. It just started getting better at the Dead Trenches(sexyyyyyyy lady).

I hated the Redcliffe battle though because it was really bugged for me and I lost more than a few hours there. The rest of it was fun.

My favorite is the Brecilian forest, exploring it is nice, the old hermit is funny and I loved the intrigue between the Keeper and my character. The choice was awesome too. I saved before choosing the werewolves(I'm Dalish after all) and it was so cool killing the elves and getting a werewolf army.

I haven't completed the Urn quest but what I haven't done looks fun from what I've seen(I have the guide).

Least favorite was actually the Drawf City one just for the fact it's actually about 4 quests that make up one. Also the broodmother was a real **** to kill.



Most favorite would be either the Dalish werewolf quest, or if it counts the Sacred Ashes quest, the mountian map was just awesome.

I like to break Orz up, I do the city parts of it early in the game, and then save the deeproads for one of the last things I do. I think the Dalish is my least favorite, it's just really linear, and the dalish don't interest me much to begin with.

Favorite is Redcliff/sacred ashes.  Lots of choices, varied areas, and a badass boss.

My least favorite is the mage's tower. No change in replay and the least rewarding choice to make. Nightmares in the fade between different characters are the only change. Not worth the time it takes to slog through it.



It's nice to get stat boosts, but it's not engaging. Not much equipment, and you don't even have random player comments to keep you entertained. Just you and the same puzzle. Again.

My least Favorite was Landsmeet. I felt very restricted and unable to do much except go along for the pre-determined ride.

It's long, but you can break it up, the map's open, go back and sell, go do something else. 

Mage tower...not so much.

I liked Orzammar because there was some decent treasure scattered around there. The Topsider's swords is one of the best swords in the game, and I like the look of the Legion armor.



I really hated doing the fade bit in the mage's tower. At least the first time, before I knew exactly what I was supposed to be doing. I didn't do the right part first and kept dying trying to get through the fire... lol

Orzammar.



Having to pick a side of the "would be kings" was annoying but working for them was even worse.



I actually enjoyed the deep roads.

First playthrough I liked both the Redcliffe/Urn quests and the Orzammar stuff. Very engaging. I liked the Dalish area least - very linear.



Second+ playthroughs, I like the Mage Tower least, for the reasons mentioned in a post above. The Fade stuff is just too long & too repetitive the 2nd time around. The rest of the Blight quests are so-so in terms of repeating.

Hmm as for least favourite i'd definately say the whole Dhalish line. Like someone else mentioned aswell the Dhalish aren't interesting. I'd even go as far as to state that in any fantasy game where elves appear, these "dhalish" are the most boring. They have potential to be something interesting with the whole "allienation" theme but the writers just don't deliver :(



My absolute favourite is abit harder to decide on. I'd probably have to go with the Red Cliff/Ashes line. I think the attack on Redcliff is a nice touch to the game and the whole snowy mountains design works really well. Allthough Orzammar comes in close.

From most favourite to least:



Orzammar - I really like the way this game handles the dwarves. Its an interesting twist on the stereotypical dwarves you see.

Redcliffe - Cause it feels like a whole epic game in itself; with all the places you go to and stuff it feels this quest could've almost been made into the main story due to its richness.

Circle of Magi - Interesting setting, but in the end the Fade portion of this quest(albeit highly rewarding with stat increases and stuff) just feels...boring, with all the backtracking and stuff you gotta do.

Dalish - Elves suck. I generally despise them, and DA:O doesn't change my view of the poofy long-ears. Add to that their quest is linear, uninteresting and takes place in mostly the same setting across the whole quest.

I didn't mind the Deep Roads because it felt like an epic, grueling quest and in my first playthrough I barely came out of it as I'd run out of healing potions and had no mage healer at the time, so was struggling in battles.



Orzammar itself though was a bit tedious, lots of back 'n' forth, lots of mundane moments. Did like fighting in the Proving though.

Broken Circle was my least favorite. The Tower was good at first, all creepy and corrupted by daemons from the Warp...err...I mean, demons from the Fade. But it got repetative after a while...advance, ambush, kill, repeat. The Fade was especially dull, a pointless back-and-forth fetch quest with no real decisions or tactics. You know the developers added those free stat points in after game testers complained bitterly about the confrontational obnoxiousness of that entire level.



Redcliffe/Urn was my favorite. The fights are fun and challenging, you can break it up into parts, and your choices have serious, game-changing repercussions. And hey - high dragon.



Landsmeet, Orzamarr and Dalish are in the middle...

My favorite part of a Blight quest was actually the Fade in the Circle Tower. I see a lot of people complaining about it all over the net, but I thought it was a blast.

The rest of the Tower, not so much. So overall, my favorite would have to be Redcliffe.



I'm done with Orzammar, though. After I finish my obligatory evil/male run, I plan to just ignore it for the rest of my life, unless I feel like picking up Oghren for old time's sake.

So far, Redcliffe. It has a bit of everything: character interaction, battles, and serious decision making. I enjoyed having to prepare the townsfolk for battle, and the castle raid later on was creepy and atmospheric to me.

The attached Urn of Sacred Ashes quest was very well done too, and I dug the Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade vibe towards its conclusion.

Second best would be Orzammar, simply because the city feels like a complete area, rather than a collection of tiny maps and slapped together quests the way Denerim was. Double and triple crossing the candidates was humorous too. I love intrigue. :P

Least favorite is the Fade section of Broken Circle. Very tedious. Painfully so. I dread that map with a passion.

I disagree with the above. Except the castes, the dwarves aren't really different. The castes are just another to show that dwarves aren't always united. Long-lost glorified empire? check. Revered king? check. Long-ass caves? check. etc....

My favorite was the Orzammar one. It was the best least would be Dalish. I just did not like the forest part. Im a big forest fan! :D

Orzammar was by far the worst bit. why do the dwarves of all people get their own world map and in the most tedious part of the game. I felt like i was playing diablo 2 again it was too much. they should have given the extra map area to the elves in the forest. That would have been amazing, who wants to wander around caves when all it is is diablo 2? Imagine getting to go to different parts of the forests with little communitys in them. That would be awesome!



I enjoyed the redcliffe section and the tower of mages the most though.

I too really enjoyed the Fade section of the Tower. (Golem smash! when you're a rogue or a mage is a nice change of pace.) The rest is okay.

The Redcliffe section of the Urn chain was my least favorite, I think - too many zombies, too few challenging opponents.
I broke up Orzamarr, so it wasn't tedious. The Hermit livens up the Dalish quest and is full of hilarious references. And everyone loves fighting dragons, so the Haven half of the Urn quest is great.

Fade was tedious. I dread whenever I reach that part in subsequent playthroughs. Sucks I have to explore every nook for stat bonuses. Similarly, the deep roads were a horrible, horrible grind. The forest wasn't that fun either, but at least it and the ruins were short.



Redcliffe and all the Denerim parts were great. I guess I like cities and urban adventure most.

Orzammer was my favorite. It had lots of great moments, some of the game's toughest fights (nemesis, they name is Jarvia), the game's epic dungeon crawl, and I like dwarfs. It's also one of the only parts of the game with a somewhat ambiguous choice, with no third way, make everyone happy way out.



Circle Tower I liked the first time, even the Fade Section, but there's not much to do differently on repeated playthroughs.

Gameplay wise, Orzammar felt like a slog at times; but story wise I thought it was definitely the best. Creepy and awesome, lots of lore. The idea that the Blight is just plain silly for the Dwarves, they're *always* living it. (Particularly ironic, if you believe the Chantry's story, that the Dwarves are saddled with that mess in the Deep Roads because some mages went bad... Dwarves can't even *be* mages.)



I liked the Temple part of the Urn quest quite a lot. Great lore there, and I enjoyed the riddles and puzzles to break up the fighting. I'd honestly thought the Andraste story (her being the bride of the Maker) was a load of rubbish before going there, but when a pile of ashes can actually heal someone, you have to give it credit...

Fade and Orzammar/Deep Roads were the most boring part of the game, which is quite a shame since the Fade is, for me, the most interesting part about the story and lore etc. Yet you spend most of your time there backtracking all the time, caged in small rooms. The realm itself didn't look really like a spirit realm. More like an alien planet or a gone-wrong copy of the normal world. I expected something different, especially when you're told that the Veil was more of a metaphysical thing than a real physical barrier and to pass it the metaphor of "opening ones eyes" was used. So I expected a less material realm with the Black City being the only material constant.



Orzammar started good, the city itself is nice and quite marvelous to behold, even for someone who spent five years in Ironforge. The Deep Roads on the other hand were disappointing. I expected more architecture, like the tunnels filled with lava and maybe more plant life and lakes and maybe even a ray of sunlight every now and there.



The Dead Trenches were okay though and I really digged the horror part there.

I disliked Orzammar because I dislike repetitive environments, and it was just that. Also, another problem I had due to overheating was delay in commands, so I'd fight every large battle with my partymembers doing the things with I ordered them to 10 seconds later- you can't imagine how much pre-planning I did, haha! (Allright, in about 10 seconds he's going to suffer enough blows to be low on hp, so I take the potion now etc etc).



Most favorite... eh, Redcliffe maybe? I did like the Circle of Magi though, but mainly only because of the golem and the burning man. They were what made me use Shale in my second playthrough + fireball (altough I certainly miss the fire immnity lol, no more kamikaze ones!).



Also hmm?

I find your logic flawed! What does their inability to be mages have to do with anything? The mages triggered the darkspawn one way or another, and the entire world suffered from it. The fact that they just so happen to be digging around underground searching for olds gods which coincidentally also means being closest to the dwarves is just... well, coincidence.
