I've used MySQL before and it never caused a problem like this, but...

The MS SQL Server 2005 has the BWTOOLSET database and protocol but not only does it refuse to start. It refuses to uninstall too!!  D:

I suspect that the server blew itself up without cleaning its locks properly, but then i have zero experience so I have no idea what's really going on.

Microsoft help page is useless, as always, as it just tells me me to use the uninstaller from command prompt. >.>

I would post my log files but uninstalling the toolset removed the log file too. haha.  I remember it saying that it started up then shuts down on its own "no action required."  No explicit error messages.

Now i'm going to try to do the "manual uninstallation," which involves registry editting  So... guys, if I don't come back... :crying: :crying: :crying:  Know that I've always loved you.  :crying:  Good bye.  :crying:

Well... i will not be able to help you, but, as i'm now struggling for more than 10 days to install the toolset (and still unsuccessfull), i will only say one thing : why a uselessly picking up database system out of the toolset himself ? And in that case, why not a direct connection to online database. not that halfway method, consendering the microsoft ****ting issues, not only on vista but for 7 too. Looks like they made the toolset for XP SP3 only.

Guys... at least do it simple in someway. not that i want to give you a lesson, but take just a look on how UDK manage databases....

Im running windows 7 and have 0 problems. But maybe I can offer assistance! First have you stopped the actual MSSQL services? If yes, does it still appear in your remove programs area of Control Panel? If no to both of these, you should be good for a reinstall, as it will only not install when the service is running.

But yes.. I do agree with you MSSQL was a poor choice, and I hope it wasn't purely because the game was going to be released on xbox360.

Poor choice? Poor choice for who?

That's like saying that they should have Blender and not 3ds Max because, hey!, it's free and its easier to configure, never mind the significant loss in power, security, and functionality.

That just sounds silly and self-serving.

LOL, Power?Secruity?Functionality? Are you a closet Microsoft Fanboy? Im pretty sure companies that choose to run MySQL over MSSQL is because it works better, less bloated, and not a compelete pain in the ass to configure like 99% of the crap that Microsoft releases, given that windows 7 is actually nice. Just because you have to pay for something does not make it better. Sorry, that you feel that way.. you must like throwing away your money on crap.^_^

btw just check this out http://mysql.com/customers/

Actually, I'm an Oracle fanboy if you must know, but your "(insert standard teenage rebel rant here)" was the type of response I expected to get, so thanks for not disappointing me.

Ah, such a typical response. To bad it really doesnt fit into this topic area. If we were to argue about call of duty or world of warcraft your response would have a meaning, but since we are not, it does not.. You catch my drift? Also it is quiet a shame though as most teenagers wouldnt know the difference. :P
