Based on this manual, it looks like the camera is always tied to a character. I had thought the camera was free-roaming - that would could move it independently of a character.
Does zooming in necessarily tie the camera to the active party member? I hope that gets modded out pretty quickly.
I also hope that we can zoom in and zoom out in small increments. I can't tell that from the manual.
This isn't that surprising, remember Neverwinter nights and Kotor the camera was always tied to the selected character as well.
NWN2 added the new cameras with the expansion but that is Obsidian and not Bioware.

I like the fact that if I play a Berserker/Reaver, the game manual assures me that I'll be a 'half-sane masochist'.

The link provided is huge, because it is the manual in all languages. For a faster download, you can view the USA manual from my site at:

Thanks for the link gizzt. I like the UK version of the manual better than the US one because it has one manual page per pdf page. The US one has two manual pages crammed onto one pdf page.

I notice Coercion is a mixture of strength/cunning + skill rank. So essentially, are mages buggered? Another game where a mage just does magic and to hell with everything else?

It looks like the manual is inconsistent with what we have heard from Devs and Warden's Quest contestants about skill progression. The manual says 1 skill for every 2 levels for Rogues and 1 for every 3 for Warriors and Mages. Devs have said 1 skill every level for Rogues and 1/2 for Warriors & Mages. Is the manual already out of date?

As far as I can tell, Cunning is useful for mages because of the Combat Tactics skill that uses it.
Not only do mages start with combat tactics anyway, but having many spells means they will need more "programming" to get them to behave properly in combat. Having low combat tactics means your mages will not perform very well unless you micromanage every one of them.
Thus, it is still useful to boost Cunning for mages so they can have more tactics slots.

Sadly, the manual is not very well written. Every sentence is excessively wordy, and it foregrounds formulas. What it should do is explain a concept, presenta formula, and give an example with explanation. Whoever wrote this should have read a few Sir-Tech manuals first.
