It's only a game you know. Life is many times more important. I really think you need to go spend some time and thoughts on other things.

Just a "game"?
Dude, do you realize that 90% of people here consider mass effect the greatest universe ever done? Books, comics, trailers, art, videogames and every part of it is filled with beloved characters, wonderful places and a parallel universe that we grown to love. All of it is gone now. Just realize it.

I am in the same situation. I can't enjoy anything because I only think about Mass Effect, not in a positive way though. I can't concentrate, I can't think or do anything else.

@Harmos.

People can't help how they feel man.

The guy said he knew it was silly but it was how he felt; and was wanting to know if anyone else felt the same to make himself feel better.
Whats wrong wi that?

I can't say that for myself I haven't been sleeping and whatnot. But I was definately really excited when the game was coming. From about mid february I was acting like Christmas was coming.

My flatmate and boyfriend kept laughing at me.

So I can understand feeling like you have been sucker punched by the whole thing.

Good luck mate, we feel for you.

Although it hasn't hit me 'that hard', i can safely say it has affect my daily life as well, while at work, instead of doing 100%, i am at 30%, because I spend a lot of time on the forums, on #retakemasseffect on facebook, on twitter, monitoring the situation, hoping for a ray of hope to shine into this abysmal hole which is what Bioware has left us in, in regards to this fantastic epic trilogy's conclusion..

Go do something nice, we'll hold the line in your stead mate, and most of us will still be here if you ever decide to come back!!

Just remember OP; Nobody and I mean NOBODY! Has the right to tell you what is or isnt important to you in your own life. Take religion for example, some people would die for their religion while others feel that that very same religion is about as important and real as a childrens tale.
But I agree that some distance might be good, personally I've been playing the ME3 multiplayer. That way I get my ME "fix" while being distanced a bit from the horrible ending : /

Whilst I agree partially that this is annoying and painstaking waiting for news and even heartbreaking about the ending I don't quite know how you can use a killer disease such as cancer as a metaphor for a bad game ending.

If you can emotionally attach yourself to a story (rather than a game) it is actually a normal thing to feel depressed or be affected by after such an ending.

So yes, i am attached to the story thus that ending upset me, thus i feel sad and angry, i feel lost and wtf. I can't say it is just a game because i do not care about the game but rather the story and how i fit myself into this story.

I am not saying that it is his fault or making fun of him; but it definitely is kind of unhealthy to have an relationship with an purly fictional character that goes as deep to make you feel equivalent to someone breaking up with you or worse, even comparing it to a disease that kills real people. Maybe OP should reconsider his involvment in such deep for the moment. Not that I would really care, but making your mod depending on a fictional world completely controlled by others ... well, I don't think this is going to end well.

OP I do know how you feel.
I am on my first run through, and reached London, and I feel like I am done now.

I have no desire to complete the game.

Despite being amazing, to this point, and having played ME1 & ME2 more times than I can ever count, I am done. I feel a lot of disappointment , and I don,t know quite what happened. But the game I was so eager to play, for the last year is not the game I got. Expectation vs reality I guess.

To expect Bioware to read this or even take some note of one person's feedback is not realistic. They made their business decision.

I don,t even feel rage , just ... I am done. Time to go do something else.

No, that's a fair call by AlexXIV. I wouldn't necessarily say it the same way, but the same way a bad breakup hurts more the longer you dwell on it, this (so far) terrible end to our emotional investment should be treated ike a bad breakup. Go out and get things done... talk to friends, or just go out. Gotta channel the energy. Best advice is to just stay away from ME for a while, things will heal, and maybe Bioware will have an explanation/DLC, either way it hurts less.

1) Bioware pulls off the greatest trick in gaming history and redeem themselves with epic and much promised endings through DLC.

2) Bioware manages to make the worst ending in gaming history.

1) Depends if the DLC is free or not - if it is free, I totally agree with you - but if you  have to pay for it we have

3) Bioware pulls of the biggest rip off ever, making all us pay for the end we actually deserved to have in the final game...

Besides, I reall feel with you bro. I am at work for 5 hours now and instead of doing my job I am writing and reading here all the time....but it actually makes me feel a bit better, since it seems imho more and more likely there is something to come...and at least more or less "knowing" that something will come gives me strength!

Hold the line!

I am just redoing ME2 and fixing mistakes (saving the genophage research data, etc) and figure by the time I am ready for ME3 again, there will be an official resolution.

You should get medical help.
Not mocking, that's some issue you're having, it's worth checking out before it gets more serious.
At least visit a doctor.
Falling into depression from playing a videogame is not a normal reaction.

I spent a weekend inside then ended up not going to school and spending entire day searching forums for answers. The ending did take it's toll on me but I'm mostly over it, now I'm just browsing these forums and feeling disappointed.

Heh, I've been wondering how many days of how many people around the world have been spoiled due to the way ME3's ending was handled. Some people may say it's just fiction, but the fact of the matter is that fiction always had, and now even more so has the potential to influence the lives of vast masses of people. Furthermore, we're dealing with a very specific type of association here: One to the patterns and conventions of the classic epic. Primary epics once upon a time (and to an extent even today) actually served as a very important part of the cultural foundation of -entire cultures-, and ME draws from them very heavily. It's a very special form of literature, built around a structure which according to some theories may even be universal across various different cultures of our planet. It's powerful, and some writers have built their works around it specifically for the impact it may grant if employed semi-correctly (cough, cough, Star Wars, Matrix, cough). No wonder people are very emotional about their disappointment with the ending.

If it'll make someone feel better, I can say that the ending doesn't look good, and is just as disappointing from the perspective of an english literature student. Although games can be said to be a different art form, in terms of certain plot devices and plot structure they still borrow from ideas already established and processed in numerous literary works. If anyone is interested I recommend they surf the net for info on "the primary epic", structuralism, and Joseph Campbell's "Hero with a 1000 faces" for a (potentially) fascinating new perspective on the series.

But anyway, yes, I've also felt a bit down myself for the last two days after finishing ME3, because the ending seemingly violated a lot of things in regards to the rest of the story. Whether those were indeed violations, or a device to achieve some end remains to be seen.

I have no problem with waiting. Seriously, why do people think they have to spend their lives here at every waking moment in order to "Hold the line". Go sleep, eat, play OTHER games.

Just don't give BioWare any more of your money until they fix this thing. And stay vocal about your desire to have it done. Don't, like, wreck yourself missing university to stay on the forums. Take care of yourself in a healthy way... and hold the line.

This.

There is no shame in your admission, either. A lot of fans are going through the same thing right now. It's depressing, depleating, exhausting and sad. We had a lot of emotional investment in this universe, so it's to be expected.

Pay not attention to the pathetic posters who would belittle you or tell you you're taking it too far, the fact remains very many of us feel exactly as you do. I am still depressed, and I will continue to feel empty untill I find closure through this world I love so very much.

The only way i am managing to stick around and not sink into a depression like the OP is by fighting, i am fighting so hard, i have never really fought this hard before for anything. I guess because i have never been so affected by anything of media form. I will not stop fighting until the either release a DLC to fix it or tell us that we need to STFU and get over it.
Then i will leave Bioware after 12 years of love.

Don't worry. I love Mass Effect. I desperatly want things to get better so I can play through the trilogy again knowing that I'll be greeted with a satisfying conclusion. Until that happens, if it ever does, I just cannot bring myself to slog through the gaming knowing what's at the end. I'll hold the line.
