Well, *if* you buy the Starchild ending, then any entity trying to 'test' lesser lifeforms ("You are the first organic to reach this point") has to give them a way to win the test. So there'd have to be a ****** in the armor, a way for the organics to succeed at reaching Catalyst. The entire reason they brought the Citadel to Earth was to surround it with their main force and keep people away.
Why in blazes would you do that then provide a back door?
Yes, I'm reaching.

One thing i don't get is how they knew how to build a conduit, isn't it a prothean construct?

Honestly, I think it's too late for us to now start nit picking the space magic of the ME universe, and I wouldn't want them to change the location from London (or else the Brits might rebel and form their own country), but places like Kisumu, Quito, or Libreville, which are all close enough to the equator to serve as bases for geosynchronous facilities, would have been more logical choices.

Hey, if *you* had been out in Dark Space for 50,000 years, wouldn't you really want a good English hard cider and maybe some fish and chips? They follow all the normal foreshadowing that there is some sort of critical thing in London--some sort of artifact, maybe--that the Reapers are after or that they are defending.

Something which the Reapers themselves aren't aware of hence why they try to destroy the Crucible so yeah!
Child: "Put a conduit from London to the Citadel."
Reaper: "Why?"
Child: "Because I said so."
Reaper: "We brought this thing all the way to Earth to protect it, closed it, killed everyone inside.. now you want a back door?"
Child: "Yes. And protect it."
Reaper: ".... you want a backdoor to the Citadel and you want us to waste time protecting it too when we could just turn it off?"
Child: "Yes."
Reaper: "Again, why?"
Child: "Shut up and do as you're told."
Reaper: "Each a nation they said. Independant they said."

Alright maybe I'm blocking out so much that I entirely forgot but why did the Reapers put a transporter *anywhere* in the first place?
Probably for ease of harvesting. I bet there were more around the world.
That seems a stretch, why to the Citadel? They've obviously never used the Citadel in such a manner before, why start now?
Especially when it's in their interests to not have a convenient organic usable transporter to the one thing they don't want anybody anywhere near.
Uhhhh.....

IDK, you do get a pool out of the deal. Seems to have worked out fine for the Greeks.
