Because every video game should feature England at some stage.

The entire reason they brought the Citadel to Earth was to surround it with their main force and keep people away.
Why in blazes would you do that then provide a back door?

Well, *if* you buy the Starchild ending, then any entity trying to 'test' lesser lifeforms ("You are the first organic to reach this point") has to give them a way to win the test.  So there'd have to be a ****** in the armor, a way for the organics to succeed at reaching Catalyst.

Yes, I'm reaching.

I think London was one of the first major urban center to get hit by the invasion. Which would make it one fo the first place to have a large number of indoctrinated people to control or turn into husks.
One thing i don't get is how they knew how to build a conduit, isn't it a prothean construct?

Clearly BW had a huge positive response from our cousins across the pond when London was featured in the first trailer. To satisfy that, they made London the point on the planet where all surviving humans were gathered by the Reaper forces to be sent up to the awaiting Citadel, which miraculously is maintaining a geosynchronous orbit over London (WTF?).

Honestly, I think it's too late for us to now start nit picking the space magic of the ME universe, and I wouldn't want them to change the location from London (or else the Brits might rebel and form their own country), but places like Kisumu, Quito, or Libreville, which are all close enough to the equator to serve as bases for geosynchronous facilities, would have been more logical choices.

Because in London you have the secret entrance to Hogwarts.

:wizard:

Seriously, though, that could use some explaining.

They follow all the normal foreshadowing that there is some sort of critical thing in London--some sort of artifact, maybe--that the Reapers are after or that they are defending.

Hey, if *you* had been out in Dark Space for 50,000 years, wouldn't you really want a good English hard cider and maybe some fish and chips? :?

Something which the Reapers themselves aren't aware of hence why they try to destroy the Crucible so yeah!

Child: "Put a conduit from London to the Citadel."

Reaper: "Why?"

Child: "Because I said so."

Reaper: "We brought this thing all the way to Earth to protect it, closed it, killed everyone inside.. now you want a back door?"

Child: "Yes. And protect it."

Reaper: ".... you want a backdoor to the Citadel and you want us to waste time protecting it too when we could just turn it off?"

Child: "Yes."

Reaper: "Again, why?"

Child: "Shut up and do as you're told."

Reaper: "Each a nation they said. Independant they said."

Alright maybe I'm blocking out so much that I entirely forgot but why did the Reapers put a transporter *anywhere* in the first place?

Probably for ease of harvesting. I bet there were more around the world.

That seems a stretch, why to the Citadel? They've obviously never used the Citadel in such a manner before, why start now?
Especially when it's in their interests to not have a convenient organic usable transporter to the one thing they don't want anybody anywhere near.

Uhhhh.....

Spae Magic?:wizard:

they explained that! it was to transport troops to the citadel. troops that we never saw when we got there. yeah.

They watched Teletubies and went crazy when it was cancelled. Harbringer has such a thing for Tinky Winky's handbag.
Alternatively: Harbringer watched Dr Who and wanted more information on this incredible race called: Daleks

Hey if a Reaper attack is the consequence for the biggest waste of money my city has ever undertaken, bring it on.

IDK, you do get a pool out of the deal. Seems to have worked out fine for the Greeks.

Am I laying on the sarcasm too thick?

Because BW tried to please their fans. The whole game tries that, using emotion and reencounters all the time. They used our feelings to get us attached to NPCs because we demanded it. A lot of people wanted to meet Nigel Fish'n'chips, so they gave us what we wanted. We also wanted more emotions, party banter, connections between crew members and ends to all minor plots we had started in the trilogy.

They tried really hard to please us, but they missed a few things. We got London, at least :)
