Maybe they liked the fact that London was an island and easier to control?

Australia would've worked then, that would've been fun facing off against Reaper'd Kangaroos. Or Hawaii, or Cuba... Sri Lanka?

Nothing's important about London. I've lived and worked there for 5 years and it's a s***hole. The Reapers improved how the place looked in my opinion.

I wouldn't mind my Shep to have some quality time with the gang in Havana before the final battle B)

They follow all the normal foreshadowing that there is some sort of critical thing in London--some sort of artifact, maybe--that the Reapers are after or that they are defending.

Hey, if *you* had been out in Dark Space for 50,000 years, wouldn't you really want a good English hard cider and maybe some fish and chips? :?

"I" would go to Edinburgh to have my Haggis wi neeps and tatties, plus a can of Irn-bru B)

Pfft, you can get Irn Bru in London.  (The fact that I can no longer get Irn Bru here in *Seattle* is a travesty of unmentionable magnitude, however.  I NEED MY FIZZY GIRDER DRINK.)

Though now I have this horrible mental image of Irn Bru 'Victory Edition' cans made of Reaper bits melted down for scrap.  And Shepard cracking the top of an Irn Bru can that remarks, "OW. THIS HURTS ME, SHEPARD."

I think the bigger question was how Anderson got to London from Vancouver.

I so want one of those tins.

"We defeated the Reapers with Irn-Bru, Now you can have your own Reaper Can" - Sheperd doing a hero pose and drinking from the tin of Bru.  That would be awesome!  SOMEONE MAKE THIS ADVERT!  :o

they landed in the UK first :o ... then after destroying london they most likely thought

Reaper: "yo harby plop the teleport thingy over here"
Harbinger: "idiots we need the citidel"
Reaper 2: "Well why didnt we attack the citidel first?"
Harbinger: Well-
Reaper 3: Your suppose to be the oldest one here.. why didnt we attack the citidel first?!
Harbinger: "lalalalala not listening to busy destroying humans" *Reaper foghorn*
Reapers: *mad face*

also if you read some of the datapads in the final battle.. several of them say that they (whoever wrote them) was hearing voices in there head that said something along the lines of head towards the light.

LOLOLO.  Perfect.  I was thinking the same thing throughout the ending.

London was important, without it you couldn't know if you got the good or bad destroy ending.

London was once the capital of the mighty British Empire. It was one of humanity's main cultural centers during the Renaissance, and it holds a lot of significance towards the Mass Effect story: the Reapers are on their way to conquering the galaxy, and it's ironic that they do their worst to London given what I just said.

Should have had it happen in Edinburgh or Orkney then.  That would have been unique. ;p

I was wondering how long it would be before someone would bring this up.  You know not everything has to be centered around American cities you know.

Well, Halo 2 Earth mission was deliberately set somewhere "fresh" - in Kenya.

Because it turns out that due to the massive casualties the United Kingdom suffered that Anderson is in fact the only remaining heir to the throne and he wants to claim his crown.

All hail his Majesty King David I!

Admit it.  It makes more sense than Space Magic.
