I have created this post in the Technical Support section because I belive it is more of a bug or oversight/miscalculation (rather than braking a promise;)) and it could be easily fixed with an update/patch rather than DLC.
It refers to a situation in which one chooses not to play (or is not capable of playing) multiplayer.
Here is the problem with the War Assets: to achieve the "perfect" (relatively;)) ending you have to gather 8000 total War Assets (Effective Military Strength = 4000 with the deafult 50% Galaxy Readiness) but... it is not possible.
As far as I know (and I base this on a few extensive ME 3 playthroughs) with all the "correct", i.e. giving the maximum War Assets, decissions throughout three games it is possible to gather as much as 7600 (rounded up) War Assets.
In order to fix this I propose either:
- rise the War Assets value by 10% (guarantees braking the 8000 barrier) or
- rise the deafult Galaxy Readiness to a new deafult (i.e. permanent) value of 55% (of course you can rise this by playing multilayer, however I am wiriting about the situation in which you cannot or chose not to do so)
Rising the deafult Galaxy Readiness is propably a better choice (less variables involved and people who do play multiplayer can relatively easy rise it up to 100% even with current situation).
As I mentioned in my openning sentence, I hope it is a matter of simple oversight, understandable in such a big project as Mass Effect 3 and I hope this matter can be resolved.
Congratiulations to Bioware staff for delivering a truly great game:).

Slightly subdued congratulations, I would amend. No game in existence should require or even encourage online play to contribute toward the storyline (games featuring co-op storylines excluded).

I for one have always despised online play, because I'm just so hopless at it, and games which require you to play online to gain achievements or single-player advantages thoroughly ruin the gaming experience for me.

I agree. I think it's a bad idea for the multiplayer game to affect the single-player experience in any way. They should be two completely different things. Some of us are not interested in the multiplayer aspect of this game, and we should not be forced to play it in order to raise galactic readiness.

don't know if anyone else has been having this issue or not, haven't seen it floating around the forums but everytime i turn the game on and it has the news filter talking about additional content and what not, i go to the galaxy at war tab and it says load failed cannot connect to server. but i have no problem actually playing the game online, and when i do play it online and get through the missions and get extracted it doesn't up my galactic readiness what soever. is there something i'm missing?

Cannot help You there, sorry. This is a post concerning entirely different matter (also as stated not having to do anything with multiplayer). Hope You'll find answer.

What bothers me is the Readiness rating dropping over time. I only got Xbox Live Gold for ME3, and it annoys me that if I want to replay the game in a few months time, I'll have to buy another month of Live in order to redo all of the work I put in to get my rating up again.

Get your rating up to 100% (or whatever % you want, really), then log out of Live, and stay logged out of Live when playing ME3, and the % will never update from the server. As long as you play offline you could theoretically stay at 100% forever.

I wrote to EA customer service today and got a message back saying they were working on fixing this.
