Baaaah! A work of fiction didn't end exactly how I wanted it to. Petition! Boycott! Strip away creative freedoms so we can have some obscure form of democracy over intellectual properties! If BioWare had any integrity they wouldn't even acknowledge how ridiculous you people are being. They're go to tumble down the long and bumpy road of trying to satisfy everyone only to realize people will still **** and moan regardless of what they do. But they can't be told this, they'll learn those lessons like every other developer that chose that same path has. Don't let the whiners fool you into thinking this'll have some significant impact on future titles. Remember all the controversy over Left 4 Dead 2? Valve really got hurt over that one, didn't they?

This isn't about the ending. It's about broken promises between the developer and consumers throughout the world.

The ending would be ok, if it didn't felt rushed and disjointed from the rest of +100 hours' gaming experience.

Angry Joe sums it up fairly well. Sorry if this is a repost.

I personally can accept the ending, if it gave us any closure rather then a series of plot holes or even explain Star-Child. Maybe more of a fight with Harbinger then just running at him. We were hoping for a personalized ending that we spent several years making sure we put ourselves into Shepard make the choices we felt were right, but we didn't even get much of a sound off at the end from anyone.

Regardless of the ending, I still love the series. We all know you're better then this Bioware. That's why we're all here. Thank you for actually taking the time to listen to us.

Anyways that's my two cents.

We are ridiculous?

Did you really played the trilogy? It sounds like you only played the third one with the action option enabled.

Don't you think there could be really something false with it? THOUSANDS of people worldwide are united with one thought!

Nearly everyone says the trilogy is brilliant except the last 5 minutes!

Please stop calling us ridiculous and just think about the end again..the massive plotholes and everything!

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but really, you had a gret setup with Liara's time capsule--in fact, it looked as though that was going to be the ending setup there--and it would have made for a wonderful bittersweet ending if you were going that direction. Just have an evolved Yargh or something dig it up and play it. I think that would've been terrific. Especially if you take the collective "improve the crucible theme" and run with it. So many great options for an ending, and it's like we got the winner of the "worst possible ending" contest instead.

I'm with you right there. Too many people treat this like and action game and simply ignore one of the best stories crafted for a video game ever. Guy probably plays on action like you said and skips the conversations, so why would he care if there are plotholes galore?

I don't post much but figured I chimed in. Yes mass effect 3's endings could have been a lot better. Are they the worst endings in gaming history? No. Other than the endings being just ok, the rest of the game was epic. Loved the story leading up to the return to the citadel and loved how you bonded with your characters even more during the game. I would firmly jump on new endings offered by dlc if it ends the series properly. So yes the endings were disappointing but this trilogy has brought me some of the best gaming ever and I will always remember this series.

Bioware, this is the feedback.

http://social.biowar...25/polls/29964/

More than 50% players are willing to return ME3 if bioware does not reply our protest officially and positively.

I also would like people to vote, this is the only feedback that Bioware/EA care.

Hold the line!

Ok, first of all I'd like to say that I absolutely loved the whole Mass Effect series. For me this it is without a shadow of a doubt the new figurehead of Bioware after the Baldur's Gate Trilogy. Good job!

However...... I'm very disappointed by the endings. Absolutely no way to save Shepard? Seriously? What were you thinking...? All this time playing only to die at the end, one way or another!? Mass Effect Relays destroyed? What about my comrades? What about Tali? I promised her to build that house on Rannoch... What the f..............!?!?

That's just not the way to end such a great series imho. Take a look at the Baldur's Gate Trilogy. No fancy graphics, no long videos, nothing. But the ending was still extremely good. Probably the best ending ever in an RPG. People want to know what happens to their companions! And for god's sake... people don't want their main character TO DIE. Or at least they want to have in a choice in the matter. Don't get me wrong, this is not necessarily about having a 'happy end' but a good and reasonable end. I'd even have enjoyed the ending more if the screen just went blacked
when Shepard was lifted by that white beam. Heck, I'd even enjoyed the
ending more if the Reapers had won followed by
a '50.000 years later' showing how a new civilization recovers that VI
from Liara and starts building the Crucible.

Btw. I do know there's that "Shepard is alive" thing when you choose to destroy the Reapers. While I'm a completionist myself, for most people this is probably impossible to get. Especially with the 'Galactic Readiness' bull****... Sorry, I just don't know what else to call it. Furthermore the CHANCE of survival is limited to one ending.

Not a friend of DLC, but now that it's common practice it might as well be put to good use. Please do the community a favor and create a 'revised endings DLC'.  It can't even begin to describe how important it is to do this is. This series needs and deserves a worthy ending.

So long,
Goodspeed

Edit:
This http://message.snope...ead.php?t=79387 also offers a lot of insight. It is also much better worded than my post and goes into detail about what is wrong with the current endings and why they don't really make sense. Especially the part with destroying all Mass Relays...

If you played DA:O, give it a try. It's a great game and the spiritual successor to the Baldur's Gate Series. It also handles player decisions and their impacts on multiple endings very well (which just makes what happened in ME3 so confusing).

Anyway, I'd like to suggest a KoToR-inspired bad ending. Like if you work to acheive an extremely low EMS and go to retake earth, when you should get progessively indoctrinated (more and more black tendrils at the edge of your vision) as the battle goes (at the missile mission or before the final rush) on until you're force to turn on your squadmates Mission Vao-style. After you kill them or they kill you, game over with an "Indoctrinated" acheivement.

And assuming the ending situation resolves itself peaceably, Marauder Shields should be made a playable character in MP as kind of an olive branch.

I'm so tired of hearing that we're mad it wasn't a happy ending. It's like some folks (not Bioware...I think) aren't even listening to the many valid points we're bringing up.

I desperately wanted to see me building that window on Tali's claimed land - cause the woman's got to have her bay windows - and I make some crack about how I thought Garrus didn't know how to use a hammer. And he says he only knows the hammers on guns, but challenges me to a hammerin' contest all the same. Yes...I'm lame.

But a sad ending's fine too. I'll go one step further: if the *only* ending you could get was the Reapers winning, and the story was more about futility, defiance and what you do with your remaining moments, I'd still love that ending. It has nothing to do with needing happiness. It has to do with glowing children and the fact that Buzz Aldrin is an American hero whose talents don't extend to voice acting. (That's not a knock, I can't voice act or navigate space.)

And I'm so tired of getting called childish because I read the codex entries and saw all the contradictions. "Well those aren't real, those don't count." Um...what? (Again, not Bioware.) I was pretty bummed some of them weren't updated from the earlier games...like we know exactly who the Collectors are in 3, but it's still the same vague entry from the beginning of 2. Heck, I'll re-write the freaking things for free if it wasn't in the budget!

I would love to see one thing, even if Shep does die in most versions. In movies, right when soldiers are going off to their deaths, isn't that when they get married? I was so bummed that I couldn't have a ceremony. Seems like you could get any number of ship's captains or krogan shamans to do it...I bet EDI could even become an ordained minister in 1 second over the internet.

Thank you for reading, I set up my account here just so I could say that one thing, that's how much these endings affected me, unfortunately not in a good way. For funsies: I keep wondering if Javik's pod might have potentially opened instead when Saren touched the beacon, waking him up while probably buried alive. If so? Omnitool --> Download Movies ---> Venya.

Hey, you guys remember, when at the end of this great Harry Potter series when Voldemort and Harry fought to death, Hermoine just jumped into action on a pink unicorn and started throwing purple bunnis at Voldemort which totally killed him...

Can't remember...?   Because that never happend! Because it would be friggin ridiculous!!

Same here with these Endings for ME3! The Starchild is just like Hermoine on a pink Unicorn and the three choices are the purple bunnies that never meant to be in this series!! Thats where the protest comes from! And not just because we don't like the Endings!!

I'm right with you MeganHunter. As I've posted thi sin another thread, I'll just repost in here:

That's all we wanted Bioware. Your ME trilogy is not some masterclass of writing or innovative story-telling, it was a cheesy, often camp, and heavily derived sci-fi space opera (that we have loved for 5 years) that deserved an ending to reflect that. Happy or sad, we wanted to END our Shepards story, which includes all of our companions, as they are a huge part of our stories. In fact I cared more about what happened to some of my companions than I did Sheps himself.

I'm not gonna return my game, I'm not going to boycott future games, and the ending does not affect my enjoyment of the rest of your trilogy. But the choices you made to end this game the way you did are, quite simply, heartbreaking. In the immortal words of a certain video game journalist "Mass Effect deserves better"

I was greatly disappointed in the ending. I say "ending" because there was only one ending. Changing the color of the shockwave is not alternative endings. All choices were rendered moot. All the hours and several play throughs of both ME1 and ME2 were all for nothing. I've started a couple different characters on ME3, but can't bring myself to keep going. I know how it ends no matter what I do during the game. Which further disappoints and frustrates me that I could play through the previous games so many times, but can't even bring myself to play through ME3 twice. :(

For now, I'm not even going touch ME3, nor even log in to Origin until there is more info on how Bioware is going to resolve the many customer complaints.

I played it on the RPG setting on insanity the first time through. I played the rest of the series, and even went as far as reading the mediocre novels. I was entirely disenchanted from the franchise from the get go. The ending wasn't perfect, but neither was the rest of the series. The reason you're all complaining is because this was the final moment you had with the trilogy, and it didn't meet the expectations you built in your head. And THOUSANDS? Literally THOUSANDS!? Out of 3.5 million copies in the first week? Sounds to me like just one more case of the overly vocal minority taking to the internet to complain while the rest of the people playing and enjoying the franchise didn't feel the need to waste their breath protesting a video game. The whole game is a series of inconsistancy and is riddled with plotholes. But I'll stress again, these were you final moments in the trilogy and it didn't meet your expectations so you've overanalyzed it and decided you're dissatisfied with it. It's not your creative work. And you openly admit to it being brilliant besides the last five minutes? Proof of what I just said.
