Had to join just to support the majority here.

First off, absolutely superb series (am currently playing throught ME2 again).

Great job Bioware, thank you. ME and the Uncharted series are my personal favourites, yet Mass Effect just takes Gold due to the immersion and choices over the course of the 3 games.

The quality of the story is the most important thing for me and so like most people I agree with most of the sentiments expressed over the last 400+ pages.

Don't think I've seen mentioned that a short 10 minute comic book style epilogue (similar to the start of ME2 on PS3) could be implemented giving 3 main endings. Then depending on your choices over the games you get a brief explanation of how things now stand and we could have some sort of closure and a reason to play through again to find other endings.

Just played the bit last night where Shepard tells Liara about his wish for blue babies, the scene nearly brought a tear to my eye which is rare for a big butch bloke like me! I want my blue babies and a stag 'do' (bachelor party if you're American) with Garrus as best man if I achieve the best ending!!

Thank you all, hope this makes sense.

the comic book thing forthe ending, where did you hear that??

if thats the case that is simplynot godd enough

I agree. Comics wouldn't cut it. They either need to implement the Indoc Theory, or they need to change the ending whenever this new DLC comes out.

I enjoyed ME3 all the way until the end. Now all I have is the ABC ending. oopps sorry red blue green.

Would of been nice to actualy have the war assest mean something. I had 7500 at the end and still Hammer failed and everyone pulled back. Shepard dies in a colourful explosion and Anderson gets shot..... wtf happend to his Kinetic Barriers ?

So not only does the ending suck badly, but BioWare also closed off any possible games within the ME universe, due to all the Mass Effect Relays being blown up.

Sorry, no I didn't mean as full DLC ending paying £10, I mean as some sort of free DLC which should be fairly quick and easy to do.

Get people off their backs then Bioware could get on with their original plans for continuing episodic DLC....just a thought, don't shoot me!

For me and many others the appeal of Mass Effect has always been about the effect my choices have had on the world and the people within it. Alliances could be forged, broken or outright destroyed; friends could be lost or saved all because of decisions I made throughout my journey. The choices and inherent consequences are one of the best things about this series. The mechanic in and of itself makes Mass Effect for me one of the most compelling and engrossing games this generation. It also stands testament to the exceptional talent that Bioware has at creating engaging interactive experiences.

I enjoyed Mass Effect 3 greatly even with the reduced dialogue/squad interactions, the lacklustre journal and trimmed down side missions. Even the fact that the Crucible was similar to the rings from Halo or the device to stop the lambent in Gears of War 3. I forgave those short comings because the sum of all its parts made it a great game. The sacrifice by Sheppard at the end was something I expected to happen and I am fine with. Or though my vision of Ashley sun bathing on a beach whilst Sheppard and Garrus knock back a couple of beers would have been cool it wasn’t a likely outcome.

The main issues for me was the endings cinematic none of the decisions I made throughout the game were reflected on, as I have mention before choice and consequence are one of the great aspects of Mass Effect’s design. The ending however was almost identical in each of the three instances except for the colour but all were devoid of any real resolutions.

Did curing the Genophage make things better or worse? The Salarians created the Genophage and the Turians deployed it to keep the Krogan in check; did me curing it eventually lead to Krogan dominance of the galaxy?

Destruction of the Mass Relays and what happened to the fleets helping Earth, did they start the long journey back to their homes, with no Mass Relays I would assume travel takes a lot longer.

What is to become of the Normandy Crew that crashed on that tropical planet?

It would have been nice to see a cinematic depicting those events and many others, did your decisions shape the galaxy for the better by uniting it or for worse by fracturing it. Maybe those things will be explored and maybe the focus of the next Mass Effect title or DLC.

To wrap up first I know it’s a lot of text but this is one game I feel compelled to share my thoughts on.  Secondly I want to thank Bioware for an amazing game and an amazing trilogy and I look forward to anything they do in an effort to give further closure to both mine and others final chapter in this epic trilogy.

My first time posting on this thread so sorry if I am repeating what people have already said.

Personally I think the whole time after Harbinger's beam hits you is a dream. The crucible is a trial of indoctrination. This would fill all the plot holes and mean the mass relays are no longer destroyed.

If you think about it, even if you survive and see the dude with burnt armor and N7 tags (we are all assuming this was Shepard) breath it means that indoctrination failed and Shepard is lying at the bottom of the Conduit beam. Wouldnt this mean that the war is not over? You know, the huge war that you just united the galaxy for was not finished in this game.

I think this would be ok, except for the fact that BioWare said this was going to be the end of this story arc didnt they?

What I am trying to say is, even if the indoctrination theory is correct and none of the huge plot holes or color endings actually took place in reality, this means BioWare sold us a game without an ending.

"Building on their research,
Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of
game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing
more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey," says Muzyka.
"You'll hear more on this in April. We're working hard to maintain the
right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while
addressing the fan feedback we've received. This is in addition to our
existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full
games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe
can, and will, continue."

It all has me genuinely sad.

I am currently standing before the Ending-o-tron. I feel Synthesis is the most conscionable action for me, but from what I gather, this means that Shepard will die and that with every choice the Mass Relays will be destroyed. I have no interest in future DLC that does not advance the story but rather injects a few extra hours into the middle (like the recent Human Revolution DLC), or DLC that does not feature Shepard. This ending is doing my head in, and although this news of future DLC gives me the faintest hope, Mass Effect will not be the same unless the DLC changes the current ending drastically... which reading the above quote, I fear won't happen for otherwise respectable reasons.

Thank you for the otherwise profoundly fantastic game.

That is all.

I just read the "leak" from a lighting technician. I don't know if it's real or not, but I sure hope not. Shepard dying and becoming the new vessel of the Catalyst has got to be one of the worst ideas I've ever heard. "Mass Shift" as a whole sounds lousy.

I made the mistake of reading way too many spoilers. Gotta make that mistake once in life. I got the N7, I bought some patches at TFAW. I was excited! Then I read, my copy was delayed while being shipped for a week. And I have kids. I play maybe 3-4 hours a week. Soooo. haven't finished the game yet. I cant comment on that stuff. BUT, cant see myself paying for something that basically adds up to a fix for a bad ending. If it really is that much of a let down I think the best way to deal with the situation is to just let this go. Like I did with the hope of another good Aliens or Predator movie. (come on Promethius!!!) Trade the game in quick while its still worth something and buy something else. Blame EA or whoever you want for rushing the release date deadline if that makes you feel better. Whatever. I think people are just ****ing because its become such a huge nerd ****fest that it is amusing. It IS amusing reading some of the comments on Facebook. Lots of laughs in those comments.

I am going to hold out some faith in BioWare. I may not like the idea of the "real" ending being DLC... but dammit, this series is too good to just return and abandon. The DLC will probably solidify any future feelings I have toward BioWare and EA though. This is going to be "make or break" with a lot of fans for them, I am certain.

Normally I would agree. I bought the Collector's Edition because I was so excited for this game. Even playing through on a second playthrough is still fun, but it does not hold the same weight that it did the first time through, I have absolutely no interest in the characters. Even things I missed aren't cool. But I'm stil attached to the series, and I still have a little faith in Bioware. They said they're working on something. I guess I don't quite see how they could mess up so badly, which is why I'm so sold on the Indoctrination Theory. I'm hoping the new DLC will play off of that and this series will be fantastic all the way through. We can all hope....

The Indoctrination theory makes sense. all the plot holes at the end don't add up. T.I.M. being in the citadel unprotected by Cerberus operatives, even if you destroyed his main HQ I doubt that he could have taken the citadel by himself, he would have needed henchmen to take/protect the citadel from either reapers trying to take it or the huge army that your bringing there. He knew you were on the way, he would have beefed up defenses on the citadel. Even if he was indoctrinated and not thinking cleary, he stayed to his plan "get the crucible, take control of the reapers".

Just my thought on T.I.M being on the citadel, I'm sure everyone else know about the major ones.

"Its getting late, but alright. One more story..."
Probably my favorite part. So much to take from that scene. Especially while looking at all the controversy.

The Stargazer is Bioware telling us, the child, this epic story. And like the child, we arent satisfied with Shepard ending there. Do you think they saw that coming?

But what else is there to tell about Shepard? Was he an all-star blitzball player in between battles on the citadel? Did he race pods when he was younger, overcoming odds against other species with faster reaction timing? Or! Does he come back as a ghost to warn the next synthetic-creators that if they dont change their ways, they too will end up in chains.
Let me tell ya, Id read that book!

Basically. But I dont let people play with my emotions.....Smokey. This is the last mass effect. Im not playing a mmorpg about mass effect. This is IT.  I mean, they SOLD OUT of collector editions. They made some money. Most anticipated game of the year money. Derp me? No sir, DERP YOU.

I can’t believe the very talented BioWare writers would come up with such convoluted and nonsensical plot resolution. Even mildly intelligent writers will produce something better.

The whole God/child/ AI plot resolution makes as much sense as the Martians exploding heads to “Indian Love Call” in Mars Attacks

Would be finny if it was all planned, and people figured out the ending before it was released ie. indoc theory. Then they had to defend that it was all planned and the sneakyness backfired.
