We appreciate everyone’s feedback about Mass Effect 3 and want you to know that we are listening. Active discussions about the ending are more than welcome here, and the team will be reviewing it for feedback and responding when we can. Please note, we want to give people time to experience the game so while we can’t get into specifics right now, we will be able to address some of your questions once more people have had time to complete the game. In the meantime, we’d like to ask that you keep the non-spoiler areas of our forums and our social media channels spoiler free.

We understand there is a lot of debate on the Mass Effect 3 ending and we will be more than happy to engage in healthy discussions once more people get to experience the game. We are listening to all of your feedback.

In the meantime, let's give appreciation to Commander Shepard. Whether you loved the ME3 ending or didn't or you just have a lot of questions, he/she has given many of us some of the best adventures we have had while playing games. What was your favorite moment? :)

ty for responding Chris,

but i cant remember any of the good moment atm after finishing the game( did all 3 endings)
becouse after finnishing the game i just sat infront of my tv last night for about 1 hour, starring at the screen.
i couldnt belive what just happened,

i feel compleatly hollow inside, i cant even describe what i feel with words so ill tell you what i did last night
instead and mabey... just mabey,  you can understand how i feel....

I listenend to "mass effect 3 soundtrack - An end once and for all" and cried, that is how  i feel about the endings...

i looking forward to you guys N gals accually taking the time and sit down and explain to us the fans WHY this is how you choose to end this triology, and what expectations you had from the fans reactions to this?
just a canded long explination. no excuses to blame thowing, fan or bioware bashing.
just the honest truth. WHY? HOW?

becouse i cant understand what could possibly lead up to screwing the fan over like this,
i thought bioware was the good guys, listening to the fans, and in understanding that the fans accually
are the once you create the story for. and as such would try to make the fans satisfied and give a proper closure to an otherwise epic story arc about shepard..
atm i would never trust bioware enough to buy a game by them knowing they might end it as horrible as ME
thus making all the hours i spent a waist of time and emotion.

unless you were accually trying to make us feel sad,
and in that case you succeded far better than any game has ever done.
the flashbacks of joker, garrus and liaras (different for other players i know)  faces was beautiful and one of the most emotional moments ever in the game, that with shepard sacrifice and the music!!!, joker trying to outrun the explotion... i cried my heart out loving and hating it at the same time LOL
becouse i wished shepard could in some way still survive it and as such continue to give us a proper closure
of everything that happaned after I win the war.

it felt like all endings were the ending were shepard lost and died (Critical mission failure in a sence)..
and even thu i liked those parts of the endings for what they were, a Sad ending,
there was no happy ending for me as a 100% Paragon do everything and save my crew and the galaxy.
and see the postive aftermath of the wars. peace in the galaxy. races overcomming differences
rebuilding of worlds my squadmates reactions to the war and the Winning fo the war and so on.

those 3 endings should have the crashlaning and stargazer talk cut, earth scene changed from reapers leaving/dying too killing resistance, and showing the milkyway map with explotions but not the exploding relays to convey the reapers spreading and killing everything, and be critical failure endings IMO.
and they would pretty much be perfect to convey that feeling of loosing the war!

anyways i dont meen to sadden the topic or deiter from it,
and i dont meen to insult or dissrespect bioware staff in anyway
im just trying to convay how i feel, hoping for a future were bioware understand and listens to me and my thoughts and mabey, just mabey... corrects the utterly destruction of my gaming/ reading experience with what is now the end in Me3 :(

with the upmost respect i will await for a real bioware responce,
hoping it will redeim there past actions with future actions,
untill then you have lost me as customer, i wont return any of the me games but i wont play them either
i seen no point since my decicions dont matter anymore and i loose despite what "ending" i get.

im sorry if this post seems hostile, it is not my intention at all, i just want you guys to understand how I feel about the controversy that is called "the endings"

on a fotenote, i think the music in some ways are the best ive heard in a game
like i said before "An end once and for all" once of the most beautiful peices i've ever heard in a game...

proper closure to an otherwise epic story arc about shepard..<br>a

I think people hate the ending simply because they don't want to let go of their beloved characters, they wanted the typical Hollywood action movie ending. I personally found the ending very satisfying, and well written. Endings of great stories are difficult to do well - look at Lost and Battlestar Galactica for example. I hope the next Bioware game is an original IP.

Oh and the funniest moment for me was Garrus telling Turian jokes with Joker.

right and the lack of any real choice, effect from choices you made prior, almost no discernible difference in outcomes regadless of which color you pick, last minute deus ex machina device, breaking of the previously established lore, auto dialogue, uncharacteristic responses for Shepard, Normandy inexplicably fleeing somewhere, with your ground crew on board no less - no, that had NOTHING to do with our dislike of the endings.  nothing at all.

Hi Chris, hello devs.!

I already sent you a letter about my opinion (using the nickname Arthas9 at the time). I don't want to repeat myself, but you really deserve all the praise for this masterpiece and awe-inspiring, beautiful and thoughtful journey (from the very first note of the soundtrack to ... and here comes the problem)! I love it. And I can't stop giving the thumbs up for it to you guys. It is definitely the best sci-fi of the last ten-fifteen years (IMO it's better than SW or ST). Thoughtful, deep, beautiful, spectacular...everything.

BUT: the ending is disappointing. I don't hate it as much as some do here. At first I kind of liked it. And I would like it still if it wasn't an illogical, lashed-together, unfinished and sloppy piece of work. It's like you got bored of the whole thing or had no time to finish the game due to deadline and wanted to wrap things up as quickly as possible. Come on! You can't even compare the last 15 minutes or so to the rest of the game qualitywise. (The TIM-Shep-Anderson moments were an exception.)

Please give us a proper ending where our decisions matter, where war assets truly have an impact and where we have more then one and a half endings (yeah, those 3 which are all the same and all depressing) and are more varied. It would be nice to have a relatively happy ending (where Shep survives and we win the war... not without sacrafices) and an ending where we completely screw up and the reapers can continue the cycle. A nice epilogue would be nice too! So please listen to our pleas!

Otherwise the game (story, script, characters, soundtrack, voice acting, graphics-animations, sound engineering etc.) is AAA+ ... but the ending screws it baaaad!

Fav. moments:

Curing the genophage: Mordin's sacrafice, saving the Krogan... the whole mission and the closure to that plot.

Liara-Shep conversation about the time-capsule.... damn, it gives me shivers down my spine.

Thessia mission with Javik... that's pure gold: pure Liara is completely destroyed by the object of her obsession

Making piece between the Geth and the Quarians: seeing Tali arriving home (esp. if romanced).

TIM: "You're sitting in my chair" :DDD

Thane's prayer for Shepard.

Jacob's evac mission is very cool...

I could sit here all day...

I also love how you made Conrad's mission the most demanding regarding past decisions... it was hilarious as hell... very nice closure for that one.

Hmm, good moments. Better question would be, what wasn't a good moment, because up until the end the game was absolutely fantastic (last time I'll mention the end, I swear...I've talked about my concerns other places, so no need to do it here)! Favorite scenes off the top of my head are:
  • Delivering Char's message to his gf. I really liked that sidequest in ME2, and was suprised that we even got closure with such a minor character! Poor guy, he went out a hero. And with a kid on the way too :( At least she'll have something to remember him by.
  • Garrus joking around with Joker/one-upping Vega. So nice to see the ship as a "living" crew rather than the static "everybody always stays in the same place on the ship" that I've been used to. First time it happened I panicked for a second 'cause I couldn't find people! Very nice touch.
  • Liara's gift. I didn't romance her in my playthrough, but it was very touching to see how close she and my Shep still were with each other. The personal connections you can build with the crew were so well done! I ended up running around to every single person who would talk to me after all the missions (even the minor ones!) just to see what everyone would say.
  • Legion's/Mordin's deaths. Two words. Kleenex required.
  • Add to the above the goodbye scenes w/ my LI on earth (Garrus in my case). The VA was amazing here! My poor Shep was getting choked up at the end of it! I wonder if any of the VA have gotten emotional while recording these kind of scenes?
  • Javik. Wow, my Shep could go from hating his guts to liking him to hating him again all in the same conversation! So nice to have a char that was very clearly designed for the Renegade Shep...victory at all costs! I still can't decide if any of his "nice" moments were sincere or just calculated....
  • Many many more secondary character shout-outs. Hilarious that the reporter finally fights back! She must have been punched a LOT. And poor Conrad in my game finally got to be a hero. Made up for how annoying he had been in the other games :P
  • I know some people haven't liked the "overhear a convo, go on a quest" missions, but I personally loved them. I didn't have many issues with not hearing the conversations (mostly b/c I'd run up to everyone who looked like they might be talking to each other while I was on the Citadel), and it was nice to break the RPG stereotype of "everybody unloads their problems on the hero". They just talk about them in earshot and I overhear it :)
I did find a couple annoying bugs through the game. The journal doesn't always update properly, conversations sometimes "fade out" in the middle of a sentance so I can't hear what people are saying. Got stuck behind Joker on the bridge a few times (there must be a black hole there). Other than that, nothing that made me pause and think "well that's annoying". Certainly far less bugs than some other games I've played. *cough*Skyrim*cough*

Well done to the team for making such an amazing game!

Not liking the ending doesn't mean you don't get it.

THERE IS NOTHING COMPLICATED ABOUT THE ENDING, THER IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING YOU CAN'T GET:

A bright six year old could probably understand this ending.

It actually does mean you don't get it.

There's actually something you can get.

And does that mean you're not a bright six year old?

I'm not turning down the fire until we've gotten an explanation.

Come off it, Mr. Priestly. You're not fooling me.

Chill, thats not the way to discuss it, say what you don't like, say what you want out of the ending. Yelling at them wont help. It's very clear they are asking us for a reason and have dropped clues all over about doing something about it.

Shepard's sacrifice was admirable, but that doesn't change the fact his sacrfice only put the galaxy further into chaos now that mass relays are destroyed. What will happen to your stranded friends? What about the surviving forces in your armada you took with you into the war? What about the many occupied planets/systems/nebulae now isolated and unable to give or receive supplies?

If anything, Shepard's sacrifice was in vain and ultimately gave the galaxy a more grim death.

It was a sacrifice that I had no part in making.  I would not willingly kill myself without fighting with every fiber to NOT die.  I don't want to have an ending shovel-fed to me against my will or nature.

How about I mash my fist into the little kid's face and then kick him like I'm making a field goal, blow the station, get off, get back with Ash and the gang, and limp off to help rebuild the galaxy?  THAT'S my ending.  Not some "All doors lead to hades".

How about, you're an idiot and EAWare got you good!

Don't give in the the obvious troll.

I really enjoyed the game, I think it's the best in the series so far, it's just the last twenty minutes that ruin it.
I understand why the endings are dark, that type of war would have untold levels of devastation and no-one is living happily ever after once it's done. What annoyed me personally is the complete lack of closure, and the humungous plot holes. Not to mention the really quite crass "buy our dlc" pop-up after the final cutscene.
As i said, I really did enjoy Mass Effect 3, but felt so let down by the way it ended. I'm not another guy screaming for a "And they all lived happily ever after" ending, just closure to a series I've spent a lot of time playing.

My issue wasn't just with the ending. My issue was that I couldn't play my Shepard, the one I built up through 2/3 games. The one that was a Paragon, but alittle sarcastic. It seemed I had a choice of 3 sheps.

My favorite moment? there where a couple,

Mordins sacrifice

Grunt demolishing the rachni

My favorite though was the grissom academy mission, big fan of Jack and my main Sheps LI... although anything after that mission with her was kinda a let down, I liked the holo comunication before he went on the suicide mission, but the experience with Jack or any one from ME2 was severly lacking.

At this point I don't expect anything for my first issue, but a LI dlc would be nice.

How about getting back to the issue about the endings (or lack thereof) and ask why we had to buy an unfinished game? If you want to make ME3 be two, three ... heck.. even four parts that is all fine. But then I actually want to know in advance. If this was your intention, then this whole issue might never have happened at all.

I absolutely loved every minute of the game, however my favorite part was when I did all the side quests, did plenty of scanning, had high galactic readiness and EMS and then it all paid off in the end.

I loved how all the extra work I put in to get the very best ending paid off, as my Shepard survived (which wasn't cliche at all) defeated the reapers without some crazy space magic and then got reunited with my squad and LI at the end. And the epilogue afterwards really showed me how MY playthrough and MY choice determined the outcome of my Shepard's galaxy.

Thank you so much Bioware for not giving us a linear storyline funneling all of us into one ending where it would feel like our choices didn't matter.

oh wait......

same here (removed the quote pyramid though)

the only thing I've been able to do was do some speedruns with non import/edited Shepards to test conversation flags.  which only made it worse, as I have realized just how few differences in dialogue there are and how messed up romance flags are.

Heck I haven't touched the game since my first ending.  See no point to it.

hell, Iakus, if i didn't have a point to prove about triggers and flags, I woudln't have gone back either.  well, except to rewatch couple of scenes (which I have since then video captured and removed ME3 from my dash)

I want an edning that involves pink, orange and white expolisons! Nah, seriously... I just want an ending that makes sense lorewise not something that completely inconsistent with everything we knew about... we want to fight Harbinger, we want to talk with Harbinger and know the true nature of the Reapers not that crap "we harvest organics and make them synthetics so synthetics won't kill organics" bull****...

We also want a proper closure for all our characters and we want to know what happens with the Galaxy that has been shaped by our decisions! And forget about destroying the relays damn it... according to the Arrival DLC that would mean destroying the whole damn Milky Way!

Also the option to throwing the ghost kid into the beam would be most welcome... just kidding :)
