Clearly there is more to sheps story than we know, seeing as how the stargazer has another story.
I lean more to the ending being an unconscious dream from being hit by the beam. Its also odd that shep does indeed live in one ending, i will reserve judgement till the free stuff and maybe DLC come out.
A dream makes sense, being so close to the citadel and his grief over the child leadig his mind to make up that the child is the answer. Makes sense to me.
My guess is the one where he wakes up is the real ending, he dreams of what happens to his crew and the reaper and the mass relays then wakes up.

Because of the supposed artistic integrity we wont get a possiable decent ending where shepard can live or our actions at least affect the outcome in some damn way or even the mass relays not being destroyed and destroying the galaxy so that the universe can go on let alone the love interest that he or she worked so hard to make happy for both 2 or 3 games and he or she just ends up on a uninhabited planet with joker why the whole damn crew would just abandon you without trying to find out if you're dead or not or why when joker has been so deadicated that he would pull out the chicken **** card at the end leave the rest of the fleets to die or be stranded in space seriously bioware THE ARTISTIC INTEGRITY GARBAGE IS CRAP NOW I think the reason thinks did't turn out well as well is because one of their Amazing writers Drew Karpshyn Either left or got fired from the team he was the guy that worked on the old republic and the darth bane books because they got rid of him is probably why it didn't go up to snuff
Yeah I still think loosing Karpshyn really hurt the team, if you lose any major part of a creative team the work after suffers. But if Karpshyn says this was what they were going to do before he left then it is what it is.
The artistic integrity thing was such a PR move they did to try to get fans to back off on the forums. They had already lost thier artistic integrity by putting out a rushed ending, when movies put out a extended/directors cut that means the director is saying "I really wanted the story to end this way, but my producers and focus groups told me to end it that way."

We don't want "Clarity and closure", we want an ending that doesn't insult us by drifting straight off in to fantasy. We want the 16 endings we were promised, not the A/B/C bull**** we've been handed (and were specifically told we WEREN'T getting).
None of this addresses the still idiotic argument that the Reapers are saving biological life from being wiped out by synthetics by killing biological life and turning it in to synthetics, nor does it excuse the deus-ex-machina starchild bull****.

Okay. When this "announcement" is, what I think it is (giving some extra text to explain the ending we've got), then BioWare did in fact listen to the feedback, but didn't understand it, like we were all talking Japanese to a kenian infant.
We complained about the inconsistencies in the ending, but also, that it is outright narrative BS. Any public school student in the first year could write a more logical and better ending, if he played the game just once - or even watchend someone playing the game.
Artistic integrity is not present anymore, when corporate interests influence it. So there is nothing to protect.
We don't know what will be exactly in the extended cut so we need to wait and see

Im fine with that, it took me 36hrs to beat the game on normal and if they want to pull a fallout 3 im all for it.
More is more and if it keeps shep alive and expands on the ending ill be happy.

i'm glad that there is more and it prolly means closer to the indoc theory .

I agree. My last save from ME2 (with all DLCs) was showing something about 52 hrs of gameplay.

DLC's for Mass Effect 1 had to be played prior to the ending. DA2 DLC's technicaly take place prior to the final battle.
when you finish Mass Effect 3, it put you on a bridge, BEFORE the Cerberus assault, aka point of no return.
whatever story DLC they release? right now sound to be "before the end" DLC's NOT after.
I'm certainly not making any final judgements on "extended cut" yet, after all, I'd still have to play it before forming actual opinion. but it doesn't sounds good.
when I read the ending spoilers, before ME3 was released. it sounded bad to me. real bad. but.. I had to see for myself, play for myself. it ended up being even worse. forgive me for not being particularely optimistic at this point, given the precedent.

I agree. It's cheap. Like, imagine if they madeyou buy the first disc and then wait a few months before they gave you the second.
IGN (as much as they're disliked) posted this up. I don't know where the source for their information is (probably right on Bioware), but here it is anyway.

Hated the ending to BioWare intergalactic epic Mass Effect 3? A potential remedy is arriving this summer. The video game studio and publisher Electronic Arts have announced Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut, a free download that "will give fans seeking further clarity to the ending of Mass Effect 3 deeper insights into how their personal journey concludes."It will be available this summer for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Actually I think this was probalby the only solution. I also accept it. Now they can fix what they rushed and not look like they are giving in or selling out...although I think they did that already with the current ending.
As long as it's free I'm satified with their attempt on this. Hopefully the feedback that has been given helps them give us a better product.
Free DLC from EA?! Mayby now my pet unicorn will start talking to me again.

pretty sure they just did risk analysis and realized that free may get some of the good will back, while charging people for it will basicalyinsure that future sales will not be happening.
its not a favor. its damage control.
I miss the days if "Bring down the sky" if I remember correctly - a lot of the enviroments in it was supposed to have been used on Therum, for Liara's mission, but they ran out of time/resources. so instead, they releaced it as a free story DLC at a slightly later date. aaah... weren't those the days...
