I don't think it's the minority that has issues with the ending. All of my friends, bar one, have some issues with it. Granted, my friends don't consist of the entire fan base, but whats stoping your silent majority from speeking up?

Whatever happened to the good ol' days when a video game wasn't released until it was damn good and ready? Halo 3 was delayed for almost a year, and it kicked ass when it finally came. out. Same with Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess.

Bioware, instead of making false claims about your product and then ignoring all the criticism that comes your way when people realize that you didn't deliver what you promised, how about you tell your EA slavemasters that you'll take as long as you goddamn have to to make a game that is everything you said it would be.

I think, once the DLC is released and they start to tally up exactly how many people download it. Exactly how many people aren't happy with the ending in its current state, Bioware will have the shock of their lives. All of the people that don't use forums or don't speak up. They will be heard when they press download. I wouldnt be surprised if its in the hundreds of thousands. I really want to see those figures. Silent majority of people who liked the ending? I don't think so...

Geez, the number of downloads isn't going to tell anyone anything. Everyone is going to download it regardless of how they feel about the ending.

Yes, but by choice. Why would anyone, who liked the ending and has championed its cause want to download something that we, the vocal minority (according to some) have been fighting for since the games release? And don't say "because it's free". Anyone that berated us or looked down on us for our opinions would have to be a hippocrate to download it.

I just finished mass effect three and I hated the ending I don't want to play through it again
I really don't no if I want to play the first or the second games again either . Everything I done was for nothing . The end felt like I was on a monarail with no choice . I don't know what that stare child
Was but the shepard that I made would never side with him some sort of ai that was programed to
Commet mass genoside every cycle that is stupid .I understand that there was going to be loss and you can't win them all but I I thought you made that point afterv thessia . I hated Anderson dying.
And the fact that I couldnt even get a ending were shepard lived and see him with his crew also with his love interest then on top of that there was ...tell me another story about the Shepard that was awful . Also at that point saying Shepard has reached legendary status add to shepards legend by dlc was a slap in face I don't want to play dlc or any of the other mass effect games any more.with that being said I thought everything but the end was awesome it had bitter sweet but now it's all bitter

They definitely shot themselves in both feet this time: 1 publishing a press release way before it comes out (depending on when you consider summer to start), and 2 not listening to the feedback everyone gave! The only possible good to come out of this is that they might have time to go back and fix/add things that was so obviously overlooked or ignored. I'm not holding my breathe on this, but lets hope they have enough smarts to do so.

nyah, everyone or most everyone will download it cause its free. the real number crunching will start when all those 10th of thousands of people will NOT buy DLC.s

over 60,000 likes on american facebook page alone. 70 thousand people voted on BSN poll. russian version of facebook, posted their own poll about endings, from one of the bigger bioware fanpages. close to 130,000 people voted, over 100,000 of them felt that it was a ruined finale. http://www.bioware.ru/ source, scroll down a bit, poll is on a right hand-sight (haven't tested with google translator though, but should still get the gist of it) and this is just russian speakers.

I'll see what that free DLC looks like. I'll judge first hand. but my trust in bioware at this point? pretty much nonexistent.

I agree. I can't quite figure out why BioWare would just nod and go along with everything EA says. I know they are the "masters" now, but BioWare must have held enough power with a large, loyal and passionate fanbase eager to see the company flourish and produce more games to say "no, it isn't ready for release - suck it up".  You would have thought it was in EA's interests to keep that reputation and fanbase intact.

Maybe I just have this weird crazy idea that reputation, customer service and quality products actually matter when it comes to making money. lol how weird.

"Clarification."
great. thanks.

Yeah. I STILL cannot care about playing ME3 a second time knowing I am fighting to get to THAT conclusion. I cannot see any amount of 'clarification' on the sloppy and illogical ending making it 'better'.

VERY disappointing. VERY Bittersweet.
If that was your intention Bioware, well done.
If i could return ME3 i would. Taking it OFF my PC.

Nothing to see here. Moving along.

This is definitely the most close minded bunch of people I've ever seen. You're given Mass Effect fans a terrible name. You're idea of a good game ending is Shepard fist fighting every reaper in the galaxy, and winning. BioWare had bigger things in mind. Sorry you didn't get it. I am pretty sure the DLC explanation will go over your heads as well.

This entire series went over most of your heads, it seems. The Reapers truly were beyond your comprehension, hahaha.

No, you don't understand us. But it's nice you've found a simplistic way to feel smarter than other people without having to explain too much into it. I'm happy for you, really.

I would have happily sacrificed Shepard. I sacrificed my character in DAO. Most of the people happy about this response are happy because certain Bioware staff are hinting they can have their happy ending with Shepard reunited with the crew..

The people who are mad, such as I, are being told the hastily put-together ending filled with plot holes and choices contrary to what we were told by staff wasn't going to happen will remain and they will only expand on it using cutscenes.

Look around you a little more.

Not wasting anymore of my time on jerks(for lack of a better unfiltered word) like you. I've got a job to get to.

Ironically, Shepherd fist-fighting every Reaper in the galaxy, while stupid, is still a much more thrilling ending than the one BioWare actually gave us.

Anyway, I'll reserve proper judgment until I actually see this "Extended Edition" DLC, but as I posted earlier, extending a crappy ending just makes for a longer crappy ending.

---

Imagine this conversation at a car dealership:

Dealer - Can I help you?

Customer - Yes, I purchased a car from you yesterday and the brakes don't appear to function as promised.  They just don't work right.

Dealer - I'm sorry to hear that.  We're definitely listening to your complaints.  Give me a few minutes and I'll see what we can do for you.

Customer - Okay.  Thanks.

*minutes pass*

Dealer - Okay.  We took a look at your complaints and, unfortunately, we can't fix your brakes.  However, we can offer you this detailed manual that explains how they work.

Customer - But that doesn't solve the problem.  The brakes are still messed up.

Dealer - Oh well.  The manual is free.  Be happy you got that much.

---

Thanks a bunch, BioWare.  We don't need the ending explained to us.  We want the ending you promised to give us when you were developing the game.  You know...the one where our choices throughout the series actually made a damn difference?

I'm telling you this has EA's stink all over it. EA is notorious for putting out rushed games. The EA sports games go through this type of crap every year. EA has always handled it like this too. Making all these huge promises on what the game will be like and twisting meanings on what the game will have in it and before they have our money they are saying how great the fans and fan feedback is. Then the fans buy the game find a bunch of issues with it and complain. Now suddenly the fans are too entitled and holding the company hostage and asking for unreasonable fixes.

I never see other game companies have problems like this. EA for some reason keeps going through the same...cycle.

Using a deus ex machina to resolve a story line is lazy writing. Please take the time to think of something because using these terrible plot devices demeans the entire story, the characters, and cheapens all that they have accomplished. Hense why the so many people have issues here

Its more Mass Effect content. Why wouldn't fans want to see more content? That's all. Plus, yes, its free.

There ya go, I evened it out.

Seriously, it's not closed minded. If you understand the ending and how it makes sense with the rest of the series, please do elaborate because the real fans have pages, websites and youtube videos explaining how the ending felt wrong and didn't do the series justice.

We actually want the trilogy to go down in history as the best videogame series ever but a botched ending that doesn't make sense or live up to the previous 100 or so hours of gameplay has let it down. We wouldn't even mind Shep dying, we could even live with the Relays being destroyed just as long as the ending makes sense and has continuity with the rest of the three games.
