I think it's strange that so many seem to dislike and even hate the ending. I thought it was good and quite fitting.

Well, I picked the middle route in the end, because it seemed the least ridiculous choice (not to mention that it was not presented as someone else's choice).
Still, the ending left me with mixed feelings. Given the scale of the situation and the amount of devastation it would be real silly to assume that it's possible to press a button to make all the bad guys disappear and and turn the scenery into some sort of sunshine and bunnies scenario.
Regardless, the end feels like a kick in the quad. Probably because it's all over and it's kinda hard to suppress the desire to get the "ride into the sunset with the whole squad" moment.

On a final note, yes Bioware, I know you have plenty fabulous DLCs planned, but putting that popup screen after the "final" cinematic which then puts right back to the point before the final battle kills the immersion big time.
Or are we to believe that we're stuck in some sort of infinite loop or everything after that point doesn't really happen?

I must say that I did love Mass Effect 3. It is really a great game and a great story. This game really fits the bill of a good story that many should get into from the first game to the final game of the trilogy. A lot of emotion was brought out of me whether the moments that made me happy, sad(which got me close to tears), laughing(some of the funny moments in the game were priceless), and where you feel like you know you are about to win this with all your comrades who have been by your side throughout all 3 games. The development and progression of both the story and its characters really got to me in my heart and soul because it is definitely an experience and you guys at Bioware bought it. I will say that the ending was not quite how I expected and yes it has left me unsatisfied but I hope that you are listening to what the fans including myself, who are more civilized and calm about it, think and feel about the ending and also how we hope to expect answers soon for bringing us the closure that we initially had assumed would happen. But overall, I respect you guys at Bioware and I know you'll come through. You made a great trilogy and work hard making this more than just a game. For that I salute you. :)

After reading the design notes for the ending, I did what I was avoiding doing. I warned my sister that the ending will NOT be to her liking and is, in fact, inexplicably bad. When I thought there was even a CHANCE of this being some stupid mindgame with a big payoff to come post-general release only to see that the design notes actually thinks the ending AS IS was a good idea and that all DLC would likely be BEFORE the ending, that pretty much eliminated any need on my part to keep quiet.

Bioware, if I am asked about the game by anyone thinking about playing it I will warn them off. Well done.

Like many others: impossible to pick a favourite moment, there were too many, until the end.

Hm, to be fair, if I had to go for one it'd be giving Kai Leng the once over.

Oh God.. What I loved the most..... I loved the moment where I Geth and Quarians got their peace. I also loved the scene where the cure rained over the Krogan. I loved the romance with Garrus. I lovd going around on the citadel/in the normandy watching characters interact. Its impossible to pick my favorite moment! It was a great experience... Well, untill the ending. I mean, what. The. Hell. I'm getting pissed off that such a bad ending is in my Mass Effect game. It doesnt belong there. Bioware, you're way too talented to let it end like that. Which is the main reason I believe in the hallucinatino theory. because as much talent thats in the bioware group, SOMEONE would have piped up and said "Uhm, this ending kind of blows." unless its all a ploy.

And besides it being full of flaws and full of the biggest TABBOOS in writing, it was agonizingly tragic. I like a sad ending, or bittersweet. I prefer happy endings though. But this ending, it left me feeling despair. Which is not what I want to feel about any ME game.

Indoctrination theory fails. WHEN YOU ARE INDOCTRINATED YOU DO NOT DREAM! You are aware of whats going on but you are too busy being influenced to notice. Saren didn't WAKE UP somewhere after shooting himself, no, he was still in the same spot, and was dead. Ilusive man finally fought the indoctrination after realizing he wasn't in control like he thought he was, he didn't wake up somewhere, no, he dies right there on the citadel. Shepard WAS however almost indoctrinated by ilusive man(who was in turn indoctrinated by the reapers/catalyst) Hence the black weird stuff around the screen when near him. Was no blood loss, that was different. Geez. The renegade option to shoot him breaks that. Or the paragon option to make ilusive man shoot himself ends it too. The endings ACTUALLY happy, don't reach for straws cuz they messed up and you aren't happy with the endings.

"ilusive man(who was in turn indoctrinated by the reapers/catalyst)"

So let me get this straight, your Shep being around all The Reapers and The Catalyst, is too much of a God to be indoctrinated?
You sir, are an idiot.
Good day.

And why does everyone's Shep have to be indoctrinated?

Is it really that inconceivable judging by all of the other impossible things Shep is somehow capable of?

If we do everything right, we shouldn't have to endure an end where Shepard is indoctrinated/the Reapers have won.  If we don't do everything right, though, there's no problem with this concept.  It shouldn't be there for everyone though.

Just as Shepard dying during the suicide mission, or even losing people during the mission, shouldn't be (and wasn't) the only possible outcome.

Was it fitting knowing that your sacrifice did more harm than good? With the mass relays destroyed, the entire galaxy has become isolated. Your fleet sent to defend earth? No mass relays means survivors can't return home which means they eventually starve to death. Colonies and ruined cities in major planets? No mass relays means they can't get the emergency food and equipment vital for survival. How about your friends on the Normandy that crashed on an uncharted planet? No mass relays mean not only is your crew trapped on that planet, but there's no way anyone could rescue them.

Its a lose/lose situation. No matter who wins, the galaxy loses.

Everything was perfect up until the ending. Favorite moment was making peace between the Quarians and Geth and The final time you talk to Garrus about the war.

Things I enjoyed about the game-
-How the LI's have evolved. I was quite impressed with Kaidan's and look forward to trying Garrus as a LI
-Everything on the planet Rannoch. Whoever thought of fighting a reaper on foot was genius. The Geth collective was a totally new experience in a game loved it.
-The little details in the characters, Tali getting drunk, James and Kaidan playing poker, Kaidan still referencing that he's got students out there, meeting your characters on the Citadel. Loved the details.
-Traynor replacing Kelly. Traynor was a fantastic character.
-But what I loved the most? Jennifer Hale's voice acting. She's seriously amazing. From Mass Effect 1 to Mass Effect 3 I loved her. She is Femshep.

Things I didn't like-
-Besides the obvious part of the ending, the dream sequences felt out of place. I understand you haven't seen this kid before ME 3 but Shepard could have been haunted by things before.
-Diana Allers. She felt so.... added in. I get that her voice actress is suppose to be a cameo of some kind but she just felt so flat as a character. Would have liked Emily Wong much much more.
-Forgetting about Dark Energy. After all the foreshadowing in ME 2 it felt very... well forgotten. I get that ME 3 had a new writer for parts but at least mention this.

Just my opinion to add in. Still love Bioware games, still top on my list when a game comes out. Just... a little surprised by the ending. Waiting to see what happens now.

Ah, ignorance at its finest.

You failed to explain why I am ignorant, Saren wasn't dreaming, Shepard was fighting indoctrination while on the citadel, you are CEARLY there, but fighting it. YOU ARE ON THE CITADEL. Bad writing did the rest(surviving citadel explosion, landing/etc.)

 Mr. Priestly,

As so many of the posts before me state, the entire game was truly the best, most exciting, well-designed video game experience I have ever played. It really was the best. Better than Mass Effect 2. Better than Halo:Reach. A lost better than Skyrim. Every thing from dialogue to action, it was superb.

But, as this thread clearly shows, the ending was just terrible. I'll keep this part short; if the fans (and I think I speak for mos of us) want a typical, "happy" ending with Shepard and his/her Love Interest reuniting and committing to each other forever, than please just give us that option. I don't expect it for everyone, but if so many of us want it, then please, make it possible.

While I personally want to be able to see Shepard and Tali building their house on Rannoch together, I would be more than satisfied seeing the two united at the end, with no more danger, and simply hearing them say "Hey, we did it together. Now we can finally be together without worrying about Reapers" or something along those lines.

Thanks for listening

Kristofer R
