Hmm... my fav-moment...

* Well, there are several but all the interactions between Javek and Liara is gold. She is so excited and happy when he get's on the ship. "Evolve faster"

* Mordin, my salarian hero. I was crying and laughing at the same time. So great!   :crying:

* Leaving Samara's daughter on that planet, all alone in the rubble. Ohh... I felt so sorry for her. You can't help everyone, my FemShep just made herself steeled herself and went to the shuttle again  :crying:

* And thank you thank you thank you for the romance-arc between Kaidan and FemShep     <3

The devs are aware of this article, I'm sure. Still, doesn't mean that reminding them that they have failed and ruined their own series in so many ways, if they leave the ending as it is, is wrong.
On the contrary.

i have been buying your games Bran new day one if i can since before KOTOR loved every minute of most but this ending is ridiculous wheres the multiple endings? this ending you get should be medium to worst ending certainly not the best ending the best ending should be a cheesy you and LI, Saying goodbye to Garrus etc wanting to help with rebuild then i would be happy. i say again how is destroying galactic community sentencing the fleets and civs on earth to starvation and barbarism a "good ending" i enjoyed it until that dam ending makes me feel that it was all a waste of time

The game was great, turned a lot of things into war assets like the Rachni Queen, I was expecting to the war to be going badly and then the Rachni queen shows up with her Minions... BUT she was captured by the reapers and I had to save her again. If I ever play ME1 she will be getting the acid bath every time... No point in saving her, If she is just a war asset. I can make up for those lost points by betraying the Krogan....

So anyways then there is the ENDING. WOW I MEAN JUST WOW, It was KOTOR 2 all over again. It was Dues Ex 2 all over again. It was Crysis 2 all over again. Disappointments like that are no longer far and few between.

There is that saying that you can't know true and utter happiness unless you have been utterly disappointed, and let me tell you, the way these endings are going. I can't wait to experience a good ending to know that joy!

Mass Effect 3 was like getting on the greatest, most satifying rollecoaster ride I've ever been on. But just as I was getting off, one of the carnys walked up to me and punched me in the face.

As in real life, no matter how good the ride was, it is the punch that will stay with you. I wish you hadn't punched me in the face, BioWare.

The entire aim of the game is to stop the reapers, so the option to destroy them will be there to make you think you're doing the right thing, until you're presented with 2 different options, if you select anything but destroy the reapers, you yourself (not your Shep character) were indoctrinated by BioWare, because they got you to let the ones you have been trying to destroy since beginning to play this game, live.

Real-time player indoctrination.

TL;DR
BioWare = Gods of RPGs.

AGH! I'm so distraught!

BioWare, just look at this forum, just look at your twitter, just look at the Child's Play Charity! You know what we want! You know we know you were going for an artistic open ended ending. You know 90% of us absolutely and completely hated ever second of it.

Change it, just change it. For your sake as much as ours. If you change it we all win. We are happy, and you guys reinforce an already too-loyal fan base. I love you BioWare, but I'll always hold the line. :'(

I have to say... ME3 was my first ME game ever.
The overall gameplay is pure epicness! A lot of action, roleplay, romantic and many many emotional feeling!
The end is not bad but sad, cause you fight houres and houres for save the world, only to lose everything.
I mean... It is an end been never there, I have feel in the end moment with every character like it was real cause of the fantastic atmosphere.

I think, it is other then every history, cause not any can end good, and ME3 is showing us that !

I rly wish it would be a better end, and not take a so dramatic end BUT it is mush potential available for the next ME, for dlc/addon/ME4?!

Greets from germany and sry for some bad english.

First post here. I've never felt moved to post before.

Much like many others here, I loved ME3 until the last 10 minutes. Bemused at what I'd received at the end of my first playthrough, I reloaded the last section again to try a different ending. I was quite disturbed to discover that the endings were all, pretty much, identical, regardless of the decisions I made at the end, or, worse, made throughout the series. As a Paragon, I could get the Renegade end. As a Renegade, I could get the Paragon end.

Wait, what?

I'm no Mass Effect noob. I own ME on PC and 360. I own ME2 on PC, 360, and PS3. I own ME3 on PS3 and 360 (I use Steam for my PC gaming, so haven't bought ME3 on PC). I really love the games, for all I am fully aware of the flaws in each, and accept them for what they are. I was very keen to play ME3. I was especially keen to see how it would all end, the bit that would wrap it all beautifully, ending my journey with Shep.

The problem is: it wasn't really wrapped up at all.

Really, the end is is poor on so many levels (unless, of course, it's not the end, but something a little more complex -- but, I fear that's not the case).

I have 8 Sheps on various platforms each of which followed a different path. I intended to import each to ME3. I wanted to see how it would end for each of them. I expected many differences, kinda like all the many possible ends of Dragon Age (for all it was simply written in text). However, when I uncovered it would end the same for all my Sheps no matter what choices I took, the desire to replay was removed. I do not want to replay to see what happens. I know what will happen. For all of them. As Harbinger said:

'You cannot escape your Destiny, Shepard.'

That being true, why should I replay the game? Nothing changes. The end, as written, is inevitable. The differences between the different ends are laughably minor.

Honestly, I'm gutted. Unhappy. Displeased. Saddened. This is not what I had bought into.

That said, let me get to the OP's question: My favourite ME3 moment.

This is almost certainly Mordin's end. That said, there were many moments I loved. It's a great story -- for all the game itself is a little flawed, but I can live with that -- but marred by an inexplicably inappropriate end to the series.

To be clear on this, I'm not someone asking for a 'different ending'. Instead, I'm asking for explanations for the crazy events at the end that make no sense. Perhaps that could be reworded as asking for an ending that is an actual end.

Take, for example, the following event. It is inexplicable to me.

Liara declares undying love for my Shep just before the assault to reach the Conduit to the Citadel. They have a lovely, touching moment, clearly both aware that they may die. Then, they go to war. During that, Shep is seriously wounded, but makes it up to the Citadel, there to make a (bonkers) decision, seemingly dying in the process.

Next, we see Liara has, for some unknown reason, abandoned Shep, presumably long before he was dead (because the Normandy must have been beyond Sol's Mass Effect Relay before Shep died, as his death destroys it). Somehow, the Normandy has picked her up, along with everyone else from the Normandy's regular crew, even though they were all either dead, dying, injured, or, at the very least, deep in the middle of a war.

After the Normandy crashes, she steps out into a paradise world alongside Joker. She looks serene.

Say what?

Firstly: How and why did the Normandy pick the crew up from the middle of the battlefield, Reapers everywhere?

Secondly: Why was the Normandy fleeing the most important battle in the galaxy, long before the end?

Thirdly: Why did everyone agree to go -- really, I can't imagine any of them agreeing to leave Shep and Earth and the war with the Reapers?

Fourthly: Why isn't Liara a quivering wreck of an alien, having just either:
a) Lost Shep, the love of her life, who is now dead, or...
B) Found herself on another world, lost, a gazillion light years from her Shep, with no way to get to him ever again.

What about all her little blue babies? Think of the babies! Where's the tears, damnit! We all know Liara's prone to tears or a bit of fainting!

And that's just one issue. I have many more. In isolation, the above makes no narrative sense. I need more context. I need to understand what happened. This is supposed to be the end of the story, but it isn't as there is more to tell here. Either:

1) We simply have a poor ending.
2) Or we don't actually have the ending.

If it's 1, then I'm an unsatisfied customer. I've invested many, many hours of gaming on many platforms for a disappointing, ill-considered end. The more I think about it, the more holes I see, both in terms of the narrative as presented, and the choices available to the player to influence that end. It simply doesn't feel Mass Effect.

If it's 2, then I will wait to see what you plan. I shan't be very happy -- after all, I bought this game expecting to have a complete end by the time I finished my first playthrough -- but I shall be relieved. Perhaps all the subtle hints I thought I spotted as I played ME3 will actually be subtle hints of Shep's breakdown, of Shep's loss to Indoctrination or something else (perhaps Cerberus related)? There were certainly enough discussions orbiting this potential. Indeed, I expected some form of end-game impact concerning the fact Shep had been rebuilt by Cerberus, and what that meant in terms of her free will. Choice, after all, is built into the very mechanics of the game, and is a primary theme that recurs repeatedly throughout the series.

Anyway, you get the idea. I am unhappy, and feel so much more could have been done with the end. Indeed, I feel I could write many more fulfilling and satisfying ends than with what we have been presented. Which is unfortunate.

And, before I go, let me also add that I feel one character was very poorly served in ME3: Udina. He needed a deeper examination into how he fell into Cerberus's hands.

Anyway, thanks for reading (for those that did). I understand that this is a hard situation for all involved, and I'm just one voive amongst thousands, but I felt it was worth chipping in.

Also, thanks for an otherwise great game. I would have been happier with an extra crew mwmber or two, and with some vehicle sections, and with a few more dialogue choices, but I'm still very pleased with what I eventually received.

Barring the last 5 minutes, of course.

:innocent:

What you said! (but with a different LI) :)

Thank you, Chris Priestly, for letting us know we are being acknowledged. I for one really appreciate that you've done myself, and many others, I'd imagine, a kindness by explaining things as you have here. I find it rather uplifting, to tell the truth

And I concur! Commander Shepard is one of the greatest heroes ever, fictional or non. Across the trilogy, I think Shepard really became an extension of ourselves. Being able to make the choices we want, say whatwe want, it really has been something unique that I doubt can ever be so well done. In a way, Shepard is who you are, and who you wish you were at the same time. This is what makes the Mass Effect trilogy so great to me. It's also why the ending was such a kick in the quad, but there's little I can add to that topic that hasn't been said already.

As for my favorite moment, very hard to say actually. So much of the game was so amazing that it's hard to pick. I think the moment that hit me the hardest was the death of Legion. He's my second-favorite Mass Effect character besides Garrus, and seeing him die right after attaining true life was heartbreaking. At the same time though, he could not have died for a better cause. He allowed all the geth to become truly alive, who then can live in peace with their creators, the quarians. As much as I love Legion, his death was my favorite part because he was such a hero in doing what he did. See, something magical was gained by making such a sacrifice.

...unlike the ending, which is really just a cosmic tradeoff. One bad thing for another.

Yeah, Liara had a lot of touching scenes in this game.

I enjoyed ME3 a lot and I thought it was a great wrap to the trilogy. And while I liked the "destroy" ending, I would have liked the mass relays to remain intact. How is the ME universe (i.e., future games) supposed to exist without the relays? Everyone will be cut off from everyone else. Prequels could be an answer, but those tend to be bad. Star Wars anyone? If the series continues, and I hope it does, I'd write about an unknown (and unlinked) relay that wasn't destroyed by the Crucible.

Lot of things to like about the game; it's fun, poppy, and generally involving. Thessia was great. It's really one of the first video games I've seriously gotten into since I had stopped playing after highschool. (over 10 years ago). Shepherd and Andersons final moments, among other final moments, were touching, and it was nice to see Shep as vulnerable as he is during those scenes. The moon of Palavan was pretty wonderful looking. The Ravagers. I didn't really like that I had to miss my shot to make Garrus feel better about himself, but alas; I'm fine with Garrus being better then me at some things (that's why he's on the team, etc.).

In theory I'm fine with having a sad ending too; there is a disappointment that my choices over three games weren't that reflected in it, and the synthetics vs organics did kind of pop out of nowhere. And that there wasn't that much - well, really any - resolution to Garrus et al. Don't really like the music at the jungle either, but whatever I can live with that.

The ending does make a whole lot more sense with the "shep indoctrination" theory floating around, but only you can confirm or deny that. Without it, it does feel very random (which was my initial feeling before going around online) and I don't quite understand why Shepherd's body would have such far-reaching implications as in any of the endings - being a game that's relatively grounded in it's own science, it' pretty random.

My biggest gripe is just that all the endings utilize the same video but color coded, which feels more like you folk were rushed to it and had to recycle elements.

Being rushed at the end is probably common in such a large industrial undertaking, whether games or movies, but one would hope you had as much time as you needed. If you didn't, shame on the folk who rushed you.

The sepia-toned flashbacks are pretty random too (and corny, but that's ok) - why those 3? And your LI not necessarily reflected? I had a closer relationship to Garrus then either Anderson or Joker.

The pop-up of "wait for the dlc" at the end was pretty crass too :).

I actually was disappointed enough with the ending that I immediately uninstalled the game, but I recently reinstalled it, cause I'm curious about where this is going to go. If anywhere. Cheers!

Mr Pressly, I understand the need for misdirection on your end, but it just won't work. There were many wonderful moments for all my Shepards, but you rendered them all pointless in retrospect with the left-field ending you inserted into the game. You achieved what you couldn't with "Dragon Age 2". You've convinced me it's too risky to invest time, effort or money in Bioware titles, because we will get burnt for that in the end. I used to love the series, and you made me look like a fool for that. I almost want to see how the story would play out for all the other characters, but I can't bring myself to start the second playthrough knowing what a pointless affair it turns out to be in the end. Over hundred of hours of playing only to choose between three different sets of explosions that make me die and leave all my allies stranded on Earth where they will slowly starve to death   So cheers for that. Whatever my favourite moment of commander Shepard's journey was, this isn't it.

I love the entire ME franchise. They are my favorite games of all time, and the ME universe is easily one of my favorite sci-fi settings. I love the depth of the lore and characters.

My favorite Shepard moments in ME3 were negotiating peace between the Geth and Quarians, curing the genophage, and negotiating peace between the Turians and Krogans. It was great to see the outcomes of choices I'd made regarding these same situations in ME1 and ME2. Shepard is such a hero! It's so fun to guide her to do what others consider impossible!

A video game has never made me cry but I cried when Mordin and Legion died. I love the little variations in Mordin's death scene such as if you got Mordin to sing in ME2, he sings during his death scene, and if you talked to him about "retiring" in ME3 he says, "Would have liked to study seashells" before the elevator door closes.

I loved entering the "Geth consensus."

The Garrus romance was well done. I loved the "date" at the top of the Citadel, and I love that if you miss on purpose he says, "I'm Garrus Vakarian and this is my favorite spot on the Citadel!" I was disappointed that he never outright says, "I love you" to Shepard, but he does make his feelings clear despite not actually using those words. The conversation you can have with him on Earth just before the final mission was amazing. I started crying when he talked about having Turian-human babies, joked about adopting Korgan babies, and then gave you an "order" to come back alive---it all felt so final, like wishful thinking before an impossible battle.

The ending wasn't what I was expecting but I liked it. The impression I had when I first saw it was that Shepard was being indoctrinated by Harbinger, and after having talked about it with other fans that initial impression has been further strengthened. I'm playing the game again specifically looking for clues and foreshadowing.

I've been mulling the ending over non-stop since I finished it a few days ago. I keep thinking about all the information I had regarding indoctrination from ME1 and ME2 (when talking about indoctrination the Rachni Queen talks about "oily shadows"---just like the ones you start seeing in your nightmares; the scientists on the derelict Reaper in ME2 talked numerous times about having nightmares as they were being indoctrinated---just like Shepard's nightmares; Harbinger told Shepard in Arrival DLC "Your mind will be mine"; no one but Shepard ever saw the little boy, and the very moment he vanishes from the inside of the vent you hear a Reaper scream twice, etc.).

That being said, I hope there's more to the ending than what we've seen so far and it's expanded upon in the future.

 Mr. Priestly,

As so many of the posts before me state, the entire game was truly the best, most exciting, well-designed video game experience I have ever played. It really was the best. Better than Mass Effect 2. Better than Halo:Reach. A lost better than Skyrim. Every thing from dialogue to action, it was superb.

But, as this thread clearly shows, the ending was just terrible. I'll keep this part short; if the fans (and I think I speak for mos of us) want a typical, "happy" ending with Shepard and his/her Love Interest reuniting and committing to each other forever, than please just give us that option. I don't expect it for everyone, but if so many of us want it, then please, make it possible.

While I personally want to be able to see Shepard and Tali building their house on Rannoch together, I would be more than satisfied seeing the two united at the end, with no more danger, and simply hearing them say "Hey, we did it together. Now we can finally be together without worrying about Reapers" or something along those lines.

Thanks for listening

Kristofer R

Exactly! I'll second that one. I'm not saying scrap the endings that are presented. I'm suggesting DLC that allows you to find more clues about constructing the Crucible so that when it fires, you don't kick spacefaring civilization while it's down. I mean, for example, the Quarians JUST won back their world after 300 YEARS and now, without the mass relays, they're stranded at Earth. It's things like that made me think, "Then what was I fighting for? Sure, there are survivors, but things are looking pretty bleak for them."

Give us a way to neutralize the Reapers WITHOUT the relays going with them. Stopping the reapers has been the goal since ME1 and I had hoped we weren't going to be forced to pretty much destroy galactic civilization OURSELVES to do it. I know war is hell, but that's like curing the disease by killing the patient.

I wonder will Casey and Mac pull a George Lucas and just keep their extremly poor and depressing endings as a ''up yours'' to the fans....Then cut to 20 years later and they end up bitter and dead inside.....
