I finished my first playthrough a couple days ago and was completely satisfied with the ending I chose. I would be upset if I wasn't satisfied but I don't quite get why so many people consider the endings to ruin the game.
Common complaints are that they don't make sense and your decisions don't matter, I disagree and I'll explain why.

Here are some of the choices I made: (Spoilers)

1. My decisions from ME2 kept all the squad members alive and each had a role, small or large, in ME3.
2. My choice to save Wrex in ME1 influenced my decision to cure the genophage or lie and gain the support of the Salarians. I chose to cure it because of the relationship with Wrex and I believed he and Eve had the ability to restore the Krogan without causing war. I saved Malens work so Mordin was able to keep Eve alive.
3. I helped Kirahee on Virmire and kept him alive, gaining his support.
4. I did all the loyalty missions in ME2 and chose the paragon choice to resolve the dispute between Legion and Tali. I did not reveal Talis fathers involvement in ME2 and at the end of the paragon response, I tried to convince the Quarians not to go to war with the Geth. In ME3, I did Legions mission which gave me new insite into the Geth. It was a difficult choice, but I chose to upgrade the Geth at the end of the main mission based on that knowledge and was happy to find a paragon response that got the Quarians to stop firing. This was also due to my choices in ME2 and ME3 that gained me the support of the Quarian leaders. In the end, I gained both fleets.
5. I supported the relationship between EDI and Joker because it made them happy.
6. Conversation choices prepared me for meeting the catalyst.

How did this all effect my ending?

No matter how it ended, I left the Krogan cured, reunited the Quarians and the Geth, and stopped the Reaper threat. When I reached the point to choose, I would have destroyed them but that would have also destroyed the Geth (who were my allies) and EDI. There was also the chance that the cycle would begin again. Controling them could also start the cycle again if the the control failed. So I chose synthesis. This choice ended the war, kept (mostly) everyone alive, and allowed everyone to evolve. My playthrough ended with Joker and EdI stepping out of the Normandy happy and together followed by Liara. I had taken Liara and Garrus with me on the final mission so I took her appearance as an indication that they both survived. To me, the story was resolved. Both organic and machine life had been changed and were given a new future.

Then again, Shepard was blasted by a Reaper beam so it's possible the ending was a dream or some other outerbody experience, don't really know.
It sucks that the relays were destroyed, but that doesn't necessarily
mean it's the end of space travel. (Talk to the matriarch at the bar in
ME2)
Another complaint is that the endings are all the same, but they are not. In one Shepard survives, in one they evolve, in another earth is destroyed, and in another the Reapers return to dark space. (http://gametipcenter...-3-endings-list) Small differences but they are still differences.

Most of the time, these types of discussions turn into rounds of insults that don't ever amount to anything. I'm not interested in that and I'm not posting this to start a fight, I'm just curious why people don't like the endings and what they think would be an appropriate ending.

Oh yeah... redo tali's picture... public domain shot badly photoshopped.... please....  show the characters we've grown to love some respect... We want to care about these characters and we want you to care too...*snip*

That along with the stargazers album cover winter on mars ripoff was lazy indeed.  I'm especially shocked at the Tali debacle especially when that deviant artist did that great Tali picture and effectively your work for you!, Bioware developers even re-tweeted it in admiration so you can't pretent you weren't aware of it.

Puzzling both. Posted Image

So, reading between the lines .. wait 'til after the Asian release and all will be revealed.

Pretty much as expected; I'm willing to go on faith for a wee bit longer.

Favourite part = Shepard's horrified face at EDI's joke

Bioware:  This was the best Mass Effect game except for the last 20 minutes.  I completed ALL of the missions and side quests.  I completed 90% of the explorations of the galaxy quests looking chiefly for War Assets.   My score after the 50% reduction was over 3600.  Having paid a tidy sum for the Collector's Edition of this game, I should NOT have to play Multiplayer to save Shepherd and Anderson!  What happended to the rest of my crew and the people on the Citadel?  What's with the rest  of the galaxy' races? You need to fix this!

-Damn near cried when legion died
-Was ready to restart the game when I thought I killed Grunt, right up until hes like "Dude. Me<--Krogen"
-Mordins death the shaking voice, brillient
-The Salarien offer actually being tempting, not alot of choices Ive really had to struggle with.
-The awe of Palavin
-Sheppards horror face

...and then the ending that tarnished it all. The most elegent wine in the world can still be ruined if someone takes a ****** in it.

I'm sorry, but when you say "we're listening to your concerns with the ending" and then immediately attempt to deflect the thread to ask people to say something positive on an entirely different subject, you first statement rings false.

If you want us to believe that are listening then drop the marketing spin and deflection. Deal with the concerns straight up with no deflection, no spin, no marketing. At this time, you have my money for a game that (by your own designs) I can neither return nor sell. Do not make the situation worse by trying to dodge the issue.

They can say "we are listening" as much as they like, doesnt excuse the half arsed ending we got with more plot holes than the star wars prequels

Putting the ending aside, the game was absolutely amazing. Mind-blowing, I don't know that I have ever developed a more emotional attachment to a series, and I've been a gamer for 20+ years now. I laughed, I wanted to cry, I felt a horrible sense of loss when characters I've grown to know died. It hit on everything I was looking for. Favorite moments is a tough call...I'll throw down some of my favorites.

Reconciling the Quarians and Geth
Thane's final wish.
Drunk Tali. This was, quite possibly, the funniest scene I have ever had the privilege of witnessing in a game. It stuck in my mind so much I actually asked my waitress at Denny's last night for an emergency induction port. My wife almost died laughing...best part- the waitress knew what I was talking about.

Again, ending aside, you guys delivered. The game wasn't perfect, no game is ever perfect, but I couldn't have asked for anything more.

@Xerkysz: I am truly happy you enjoyed the endings.

Feel free to theorize all you want, but this is not about Indoctrination theories any more.
This is about a company so stuck in it's ways they don't see what is happening. The time to stop is now... not later... it could actually be too late already. This whole issue have gone too far.

Don't think for a minute that this haven't reached EA heads at this point.

Facts are there, play through the game, don't be lazy, take notes, figure it out yourself, stop being moronic, and it is about indoc, as everyone wants new endings, yet they are too blind with rage that they didn't get the ending they wanted (Because it's not the end of the game yet...) to realise that BioWare indoctrinated them because they are too lazy to figure it out for themselves, they don't listen to the people telling them that, with all facts present, but if BioWare said it, by god they would all bow down.

Stop being idiotic lazy morons and wake up. (Goes for the entire community)

And with saying this, it's 6am, I must sleep.
Enjoy being Husks!

If you have been paying attention you would have seen I actually know this already. I am talking about real life issues here, like business wise. This is beyond the actual game now. I am talking corporate issues. They are killing their own creation.

Exacty. I understand that they're giving the usual "trust us" response, but the truth is this shouldn't have happened in the first place.

I am really happy you managed to end up believing everyone survived. Most people got the feeling that everyone died, I certainly did. I died to kill most of the galaxy and strand my friends on a planet without technology :crying::(

I still do not understand why it is developers seem to be immune to laws such as fraud, is there any explanation for that at least. Honestly curious, reading about it on the internet right now, but ultimately, someone might know and give me a summary XD

My favorite part was getting to the end, realize that this was all I was going to get, uninstalling my game, cancelling my SWTOR account, and realizing this was the greatest trick the Bioware ever pulled was convincing the world that the Mass Effect series didn't exist.

Good luck with your barbershop quartet in Skokie Illinois, Bioware.

- The Ending, because it raises so many questions. If I destroyed all synthetics, what would the quarians do without the geth? If I synthesized synthetics and organics together, how will the geth-quarian relationship change?

Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

Thank you, BioWare. :D

I agreed with you till the end. You do know it's the exact same ending to Deus Ex 1. A game that came out over a decade ago. Also all the Quarians and Turians pretty much die since everyone is stranded on Earth. Krogan likely overbred. If you choose to destory synthetics, you have tons and tons of metal the size of buildings crashing down to Earth at very high speeds from space. Death Star Logic :P

You are not listening.

You are sitting there. Laughing at us. You did this on purpose. You made us wait 5 years for an ending you KNEW would destroy us.
I don't believe in anything anymore, you've killed all the hope I had.

I will never invest a penny in you again, you can go sell games to the sahara desert for all I care, I won't have anything more to do with you.

Maybe, if they're listening, they'll understand about the plot holes when squadmates getting out of the Normandy and millions of questions without answer.. And... :(

My best explanation is because what they do is a form of art, how can you tell someone their art that they created is a fraud.

I really liked it when the mysterious new character showed up at the last minute, giving you three nonsensical choices that all resulted in the exact same ending...  but with different colored explosions.  That was the best!

I vote that they show Tali's face in-game on Rannoch. We get the picture, why not the real deal?
