It always bothered me that Shep was half-terminator in two and three. I mean, he's still Shep, but honestly, I hate scripted scenes like that death scene, or the VERMIRE mess, in a game that's so much your own thing.
On Vermire, I had Tali and Liara with me. As soon as I heard that I couldn't get to both Ashley and Kaiden at the same time, I immediately thought in my head, "Joker, drop Garrus and Wrex at Lt. Williams' position on the tower to facilitate an evac. Tali, Liara and I will hold out at Alenko's position until you can rendesvous with us." But I wasn't given that option. I don't leave people behind, and I don't believe in the no win scenario. I will always do my damndest and, if needed, go down fighting.

Because I leaving for Munich now I didn't have much time.
As I said before I have my own problems with the endings. They are not as big as yours or others in this Thread, but still...
and BTW, if you allow me to suggest, don't give up on Bioware, I think they will continue to make great Games.
Darn I missed lol but yeah I only really care about the me series and baldurs gate so eh I don't think I'd be really interested in anything else... U-u

Not necessarily a clone. You are thinking of today's technology and Archonsg already pointed out that there was more of Shepard's body than just a pile of goo. Bones and all, but more importantly a brain. And well, not to go outside the game and get all theoretical on this subject, but there are many theories that indeed genes do store memories. That's for another discussion, but just so you know that is not out of the realm of thought.
I think that what we come back to is that not all space magic is horrible. It does serve a purpose, but you can't base a whole ending on it. The part of Shepard coming back from the dead was over the top in some ways, but I felt like it was going to be used for something more than pointing it out as part of the Destroy option.

I may use one on the 360 because it came with it, but I've only ever had a terrible usb one on the PS3. Usually no one has anything good to say, too many kids crying in the background, people seem to think you want to hear their music, and I've even sat and listened to people blowing their noses or throwing up in the middle of a game. I tend to plug in the mic to shut off what other people are saying. I can count on 2 fingers the times where people were actually using mics (I had the mic unplugged and it was coming thru the tv's speakers) for stuff that goes on in the game-I've heard people arguing with each other and so on and I don't have patience for that stuff.

I wonder if anyone has played ME2 recently. Something somewhat odd is that Harbinger uses almost the exact same words as the star kid does later on if and when Shepard decides to destroy the Collector's base-they will find another solution. I know there's no way to know this, but it makes me wonder if the kid isn't really Harbinger. There are reaper sounds by the kid in Shepard's dreams...

I remember that you can hear a Miranda datalog describing about Shepard's condition before the start of Lazarus project. She clearly says that Shepard body is intact despite some problems with excess of space and sub-zero temp exposure. So, you can think that Shep's brain was not intact, but was enough to remember him who he was before the Normandy destruction.

search for him/her in the rubble. You have to search and dig moving
things out of the way and looking into different holes and building. I
feel like this would be more emotional and personal.
I didn't like how everyone decided that were leaving earth and more importantly shepard for the first time in three games. This whole concept how they landed on a random planet just didn't sit right with me. I would be fine with it if in the new ending they reveal a video or sound clip of shepard telling joker to take off without him if things looked bleak or if he didn't come back out of the beam with in a certain time limit, but to leave your commander, friend, ally, and lover is just baffling.

Well Jacob does say that when they found shepard he was just meat in tubes, and later on in ME3 they say that the helmet kept the brain intact. I think all they really needed was the brain as the body was reassembled and heavily modified with cybernetics
Please refer to my post on this. All they may well need is some DNA and they would likely be able to rebuild organs. Scientists are even now researching this. So, in the future it could be that Shepard is a bag of jelly and they could created him/her from that.
Oh heck, here's the link...

This makes it irrelevant what state Shepard's corpse was in, if they found one tooth it could possibly be enough. Cerberus has advanced genetics labs.
Point of note, the planet on question has a methane, amonia atmosphere at roughly 0.8 density that of Earth and has a sub zero surface temperature. At work at the moment so can't look it up on the codex.
Also, an object "burning" up on re-entry in an atmosphere requires the presence of oxygen, which is absent in this case. The other thing of interest, would be the "scan" or x-ray of Shepard's body showing trauma to his spine, ribs, fibula and other major bone structure back in that sequence in ME2, could have sworn they took that off a skydiving accident victim.
So, they did their best to keep it "real" and plausible by giving Shepard's body a planet with an atmosphere that won't "burn" his body up on re-entry, with a surface temperature to preserve Shepard's corpse till someone gets it. And judging by the scans and physical trauma, both in bone structure and flesh damage, they at least tried to keep it "real".

Are you POSITIVE it was a flame trail, and not just some kind of lens flare from the sun behind the planet?
Also @thanathos144 (posting from phone so can't double quote)
Because it is neither.
Atmospheric Contrails
Please take the time to read that especially the part where pressure and acute difference in temperature would cause a contrail.
Now, onwards to the more technical parts.
First, I'd like both of you to watch that part where Shepard enters Alchera's atmosphere again.
Note that a trail forms immediately once Shepard's body hits the atmosphere. Now, slow that video don and you will see that it is a cloud trail and not a smooke trail.
1) Shepard isn't on fire
2) Shepard's armor isn't even glowing in heat
So why is there a trail. It has to do with the atmosphere. Do remember that Alchera has an atmosphere consisting of Methane and Amonia? Amonia boils at -33.34 deg Celsius. That is what you saw.
Any other questions?

Never seen such spin just to avoid saying that they have used space magic several times in the series.
Ok, enough already. He's not spinning everything but has stated that the planet and atmosphere and such have all been described in ME2.
And so what if it was Space Magic? People addressed that too. Everyone knows that some of the retconning they've done has involved Space Magic, that Biotics and eezo are SM, too. And many other things. We know that.
In fact there are many people that don't like what they see as the free use of Space Magic within the games. But there's a huge difference between using it in places to create atmosphere or to advance the story or to actually keep it brief (because some explanation or lack of Space Magic would make the game a lot longer), and the use of it as the whole ending for 3 games.
It's a big deal when the defining character of the game (one not introduced until the last 5 minutes of 100 hours at least of gameplay) is made wholly of Space Magic and when everything surrounding him is SM as well.
But there are references within the game as to the state of Shepard's body, the planet it landed on, and so on. It may not satisfy you, but I can accept it also because it's done well and there are reasonable explanations for it.
And you need to watch the video of Shepard falling into the planet-there's no fire trail. The only thing there is is a show of air escaping from Shepard's suit and then Shepard disappears into blackness. Well actually there's a little bit of one, but not like some full burn up. It is more of a cloud trail or contrail like a jetliner makes.

And the suit even if breached is able to withstand a lot of things-some of the biotics and explosions that are survivable can attest to that. I have no clue as to the force and power compared with re-entry, of course.
But again, so what if it's space magic? Explain just how horrible that is.
You did understand that it's a methane atmosphere, not oxygen based. You can't start a fire, things don't burn without oxygen. What you think is a fire or smoke trail is merely like waving your hand through a cloud of smoke.

Ok, what logic did you show us? It was explained to you by Archonsg and you refuse to see it.
The planet has low atmosphere which means there's little resistance upon re-entry even if the object hits terminal velocity. Your explanation assumes Earth's atmosphere and gravity.

are using as you all have termed it space magic. Now there is not a
damn thing wrong with this in a fictional story.....Kind of like in the
really good eco propaganda movie Avatar (yes I liked it but knew is was
propaganda) They have things like mentally controlling meat
puppets.....That is space magic.....Unrealistic and cant be done but it
makes for a good story....

But the methane and ammonia atmosphere means no oxygen atmosphere. On Earth there are silica rocks but they are not floating freely in the atmosphere. Just because Alchera may have H2O water does not mean the oxygen is free in the atmosphere.
The atmosphere must contain oxygen to burn.
