Read it everyone! It explains Drew Karpyshyn's ending.Which I think way better than the ending we get.

Seeing the ending again just upsets me all over .. again.

"The defining characteristic of organic life is that we think for ourselves, make our own choices,"

Yeah and that is where our Shepard of the last 3 games departs, Just as this pile of ectoplasm (where's the damn Ghost busters when you need them) tells us we have choices and then gives us 3 choices the Shepard I've been playing wether renegade, paragon, or inbetween would so .. hey you know what, go * yourself.  Then would call a strike on the bottom location of the Citadel and take out whatever servers that thing is residing on which should release the reapers.   This makes me think back when that machine(bank teller) it was some ai that blew up in Shepards face in ME1.

I'd also like to note, (my belief is it is completely lying) that it will destroy all synthetic / geth / MOST OF YOUR TECHNOLOGY / and even part of Shepard is synthetic.

So if the ending is truly such and this pile is telling the truth, than I'm guessing this will destroy MOST OF ALL TECHNOLOGY.

That include
kenitic barriers
omni tool
ezo drives
???

whats it include?
Im guessing no matter the extent - MOST OF ALL pretty much screws the whole ME universe.

I haven't seen this come to discussion in the past 110 pages, or did I miss something?

If there is not a different ending... at very best I will only ever purchase from Bioware once I've read player reviews, the crap reviews that some game sites put up are like the crap reviews I read about movies.
(Nearly every SciFi and Fantasy movie made in the past 20 years got a crap reviews, only until recently, cause now they are the NEW thing in movies.)

I mean really is it their goal to make an ending where the player is going to sit back and go, hmm let my get my robe a stogie and some cabernet so I can ponder upon what it means to wipe out human existence as we know it?

I bought a game for entertainment, where is the REPLAY VALUE I've grown accustomed to with BIOWARE products... it sure is not here.

REALLY.. if I wanted to go upon higher levels of thought I sure would not be sitting with a game controller in my hand.

W T H

For anyone as hit as I was.. don't watch the ending if it's been awhile, it's just going to upset you all over again, just as vivid as the first time.

I think I'm more upset than I was finding a new chip on the car door ... 5 years not a mark on my car.. now this!!

I always wondered why
LiarasShield  posted in multiple concesive posts... now I know why, it's the flood of emotion.

Just can't see how they can keep defending the catalyst the creator of the reapers who have been destroying most advanced organic civilzations for aeons and for ever 50 thousand years this is the person who has had all the reapers destroy most of the galaxy and is destroying earth

Once again why would he give you any options other then the ones that will benefit the reapers or the catalyst personally cause in 2 out of the 3 endings the reapers live but in all ending the relays go boom and all our forces are trapt around our solar system and until extended they aren't able to go home

Yay uuuuhhhh no -_-

And who is to say that the catalyst is not even really on the crucible it could be a hologram that the catalyst is using to try to control shepard or influence shepard into picking the choices that will only benefit the reapers or our destruction what if the catalyst is truely in dark space and using a hologram and can keep creating or recreating the reapers no matter what we do

The Catalyst is not your friend he is every bit of the enemy that the reapers are because he is the one that created them and uses twisted logic to destroy races and to justify his twisted actions

Their is no proof leading up to the final point to prove otherwise that he is just as much as monster as the reapers that he has created or controls

Bioware if i'm to accept your current ending you need to add full closure on the outcome.

First, knowing whether  you live or die would be good. IF you do die, I believe closure of your Funeral should be shown in cinematic with your team in it. If you survive I definitely think Shepard deserve retirement like him and Garrus talked about, obviously with your LI too.

Second, your ground team appear dead, in my case my Love Interest. are they? You've always said the characters were the story, and the plot was almost secondary... I'd like to know whether my battle ensured there future. whether I finally live out my days with my LI or I die in battle, if I do again I don't want a fade to black I want to see a cinematic with the ground team, anderson gathered around me with my LI heart broken.

Thirdly what the hell happened to earth and the rest of the galaxy, from what I understand the Mass Relays are gone, so what's the deal, if this is a the dark ages, and we truly have destroyed them i wanna know how the hell everyone rebuilds there future.

Sidenote I really wanna know where the hell the Normandy was off to, currently thats a real WTF.
One reason this is such a wtf is the crew is on Earth, then magically on the Normandy, please explain yourselves.

The bottom line Bioware is your current ending isn't making any sense, and even a dialogue from Admiral Hackett say that there was no way to beat the reapers, or that Cmdr Shepard gave his life to save the galaxy would have helped (I expect more than two sentenaces mind)

If you really want to save yourselves from a massive backlash in current games, and future sales I suggest your EC turns into a completely new ending, and that ending has to have WIN OR LOOSE no three choice craziness. the two choice will just have reference to your alignment, nothing more.

The game right up to Harbinger was fine by me, the Romances and Death truly got to my core, and I came away feeling genuine emotion towards the characters, yet the current ending doesn't show anything of the crew which i care about, nor the galaxy i've been fighting for.

Make it a simple WIN OR LOOSE and focus on the characters, you should have enough room to put the new universe in the background if your short on budget.

at the end the Brat tell shepard about the other way witch is to add his or her DNA to the organic and  synthetick. to
stop cycle of extinction .
but must have full cllosure just a short video on the team making it through the end and the meeting up to help each other rebuild .and of course liara and shepard stands together .

--- BioWare could give everyone everything here. They could keep the three choices and even the Starboy by making all three choices false, and Starboy a liar, and afterward Shep's journey continues. They could give people the satisfying wrap-up that they want, by having real endings after the three endings and a fleet battle. They could even make EA happy by revealing a mess of DLC afterward too.
-Cerberus still has bases out there. Could have them building a proto-reaper of their own.
-We could have some rogue Geth; now that they're individuals, they're going to be as single minded as humanity is. Which means, not single minded at all. There HAVE to be some nutjobs there.
-We could go to Tuchanka to take out some other Krogan faction that refuses to make nice with the Turians and Salarians, and end their final rebellion (with special guest squadmates, Wrex and Grunt (Or Wreave and some other dude if Wrex and Grunt are dead [Or two other dudes if Wreave is somehow dead too.])
-I want to shoot more Mercenaries. Maybe we can go back to Omega and prevent Aria from re-conquering it with Eclipse, the Blue Sons, and the Bloodpack. I always hated that ****.
-I want to find Alenko a nice boyfriend or girlfriend. I felt SO bad for having to shoot him down when he confessed that he'd loved me all along. Sorry again, brother, but I'm just too Hetero for you. And maybe we can find him that boyfriend or girlfriend by killing some Yahg, those guys are good fights. And that somehow even makes more sense than the current endings. OMG, set him up with Jack! They'd be PERFECT, since they're both people that I had to reject, but both people who I actually wanted things to work out for!

--- The only Prablem (yes, prablem) is that we can't very well actually help people recover from the war if we're not even really sure who's left after it ends. And any Single Player DLC set BEFORE the ending will seem pointless... since we still won't be sure if what we do will matter.

I have played all three games for the first time and I have just finished ME3.
The best games I have played! Just wonderful with a lot of great moments. As I was near the end of ME3 I was thinking of replaying the trilogy I liked the games that much...
I have carefully avoided all the spoilers about the ending, all I did know was that a lot of people hated the ending. And I was thinking that I can't be that bad....
And I was proven wrong, it was worse than bad! It was really bad. It left me depressed and this ****ty ending robbed me from all the joy I felt when playing the games. Now I don't want to replay the games because of the ending.
I was looking forward to more DLC's but now I can't see myself buying and playing these.

Here's another thought that proves that at least one version of Shepard that can be played would reject the star kid's choices and his "logic". The kid basically says that advanced organics must be destroyed for what might happen. The created (synthetics might or will rise up and destroy them).

If Shepard decides to cure the genophage, the Salarian Dalatross informs him/her that the shroud has been sabotaged and that Shepard could pretend to release the cure because curing the Krogan's might be disastrous.

Shepard says, "you don't doom a whole race to extinction based upon what might happen."

So, yes I can envision Shepard going along with the star kid and picking things based upon what might happen (that has not yet happened). i can really envision Shepard picking destroy which kills the geth and EDI in order to prevent what might happen. Right.

@3DandBeyond, daveyeisley,
Thanks for the kind words, and you’re both right. There are many unknown variables in this issue to reach an educated conclusion. We can only speculate. As long as it is compliant and coherent with the narrative, who cares. It has nothing to do with the ending of ME3. As sdinc009 very well put it, it’s placed at the beginning of the story to set up the events that would follow.

3D you are right this was a red herring. Bubbles knowingly or not diverted the attention from the main issue here which is the ending.

No worries, bro.

I think it is safe to say that it is altogether possible and plausible the body would not have disintegrated.

The only way I think it could have been incinerated would be if it contacted the gravity well and began accelerating for a long, long distance before contacting the atmosphere (no terminal velocity until then, so the sky is the limit for speed), and if so as holger mentioned if the angle was not right, it either would do the rock skipping thing, or it would start to penetrate but the rapid deceleration would fry it completely.

This is assuming a ridiculous velocity before contact, and thats the big question, we just dont know how far it had to build up speed.

I think it is likely the gravity well doesnt extend that far beyond the atmosphere (planet was significant smaller than earth if i recall), in which case, the body probably couldnt gain enough speed to make it an issue.

And that is also not to consider that Shepard may have been ejected from the normandy well inside the gravity well, thereby further reducing the distance to the atmosphere.

So yeah. I would say its more than plausible or possible.... I would go so far as to say it is likely the body wouldnt have burned up. So, I give this one a 'thumbs down' on the Space-Magic-ometer. :)

And there was some discussion about why there was a human looking reaper in ME2 and I had said that in the game someone said that every cycle reapers are created that look like the most advanced organics of the time. Humans are the most advanced. I also wondered why there were no Prothean looking reapers, but I think there are. I think the huge one at the beginning in Vancouver that kills the kid is similar looking to a Prothean and the one on Tuchanka that gets eaten by Kalros. Kind of similar. I don't think they wanted to have any biped reapers flying around in space, but that one type of reaper is bug-like instead of cuttlefish-like and Protheans are said to look like bugs-Javik sort of does.

red, green, blue?
a bitter - sweet ending (emphasize on the SWEET) is preferred over all of the above

the story's melancholy overtone should be overcome by a pinnacle of joy that pinpoints the importance of Shepard's actions

ME2 explicitly states there were NO new Reapers made during the Prothean cycle. NO. ZERO.
Their subservient races were either annihilated, repurposed (like the Rachni) or enslaved (like the Protheans themselves).
The Reaper models existing in the game come only in four flavours: Destroyer (which is what you fight on Tuchanka, Rannoch and in London), Big Giant McAwesome (aka Sovereign-class), Destroyer With Cannon Tacked On (which is what you kill in London with the Cain) and Harbinger because if you pause to notice, he's fatter than all the other Sovereign-classes despite being generally the same shape.

Here's another thought that proves that at least one version of Shepard that can be played would reject the star kid's choices and his "logic". The kid basically says that advanced organics must be destroyed for what might happen. The created (synthetics might or will rise up and destroy them).

Shepard says, "you don't doom a whole race to extinction based upon what might happen."

I'll one-up you.

This is a line from the game, copy-pasted verbatim from the game files.

"But moral decisions should not be made in a vacuum. If I do not ask the crew for their opinion, I could miss crucial context."

You know whose line it is? This is what EDI says in her very first dialogue with Shepard after getting her new body. That's right, the beginning of the game outlines what's so bad about the ending of the game. WAAAAYYY MEEEEETAAAAA. WAAAAYYY.

Guys, the Extended cut coming out that everyone keeps saying "wait for" has NO further voicing from Shepard, Miranda, Grunt, Tali or any others, just Anderson and EDI. Make of that what you will

You're not up to speed. Confirmed 100% via interviews or official twitters so far are Hackett, EDI, Kaidan, Ashley and Garrus. There's a thread in the Story forums listing them with sources.

Got to say I have adored 99% of my mass effect experience, but that contradictory, rushed, hack-job, EA-forced ending really killed the ME vibe for me.  I will be getting the 'extended cut' the minute it is released, but I honestly don't have much hope that "context" and "explanation" can improve on that catastrophe.  At the very least can you cut out the ridiculous, unfounded, acid-trip hallucination little dead boy whose 5 minutes of dialogue undermine and dismiss most of the ideas and premises that the ME universe was founded on and that made it awsome throughout the first 2 and 98/100  of the series?

On the matter of voice recording, here's a snippet from

http://www.ibtimes.c...lc-spoilers.htm

"I'm voicing some more Mass Effect on Monday," Helfer told G4. Henriksen, however, was a little more specific.

"I just did another session with them...They were saying there's a little bit of a problem with the abruptness of the ending," Henriksen said, "So we did a whole series of things to add to the end of the game, to live up to the quality they've been doing."

"Usually, when a guy loses the game, the game shuts down; it's over. It's done. The players don't like that," Henriksen adds.

I think Henriksen has touched on something. Losing a game is abrupt and quick. Successfully completing a game gives validation and closrue to the time invested in it. Yet the ending of ME3 does not reward players by answering questions based to the screenplay. Instead its an arty light show with little explanation as to what, how or why events occured.

Interestingly the link has the video of Henriksen's interview in which he terms the abruptness of the ending 'an oversight'. High five Mr Henriksen. That's what alot of players have been thinking.

Dude, I thought they fixed your net? They apparently started laying NBN cable out here end of last month, so maybe you can finally be considered close enough to town to qualify? LOL:whistle:
