Because Sony has say so on everything that happens and that's made for their system. Ever since the big hack and shutdown of psn they have been really shut in and they have never really been big on this kind of thing in the first place.

That's my read on the situation as well. The idea that Bioware would CHOOSE not to extend this to PSN users is just so absurd. It makes not business sense.

Sony are still far more open then microsoft, so the lack of this is not sony's fault but clearly biowares, so yeah i dont believe a word that comes out there mouth now.

You are wrong. Ever since PSN got hacked and a lot of other Sony areas, they have closed of there servers for other companies other then Sony themself. If they wont give you the okay to send data or collect data, then you can't. Simple as that.

The thing is i doubt bioware even asked Sony, anyway im not gonna go to into this like most people *the ending crowd* im just saying how pissed i am right now, i hope we atleast get the pack on tuesday like everyone else, but just make it cost us a stupid amount of credits.

Also, in response to all the PS3 owner complaints about not being able to participate in the event or how the PS3 version of the game has bad framerates:

The choice was Sony's, not Biowares, for the exclusion. This is due to the short amount of time since release of the game and Sony's paranoia of a new game being a possible security breach access point for them to get hacked again, so if you are going to continue rambling please take it up with Sony's system security development department.

Are you seriously naive enough to believe that Sony, for some reason, despite every other game having no problems including the PS3 in events, told Bioware not to put this event on the PS3?  Or that the PS3 somehow can't handle the kill tracking, which it can as it has the same damn "Upload Gameplay Data" option, or the special equipment pack, which it can as it has the Supplies Pack like the PC and Xbox?

Paranoia about a breach?  What the hell does that have even have to do with events like this?  Especially when the PS3 version has the same damn data upload and Supplies Pack, like I said earlier.  Think situations like this through, instead of blindly believing everything Bioware says.

It's blatantly obvious that there are no technical limitations preventing the PS3 from uploading your data and giving out special equipment packs.

Dammit Bioware - it's not fair that you're not letting PS3 users have this! You are sidelining one of your large fan bases AGAIN!!!

This is getting ridiculas. If we can't get the same enjoyment and contests that the PC and 360 users have, then why the hell did you release it on our console of choice in the first place? I seriously hope we get these items in the very near future, or consider this, on top of a terrible SP ending, and being treated like dirt by help and support, my reason for abandoning the ME franchise.

Hey PS3 users, (and Bioware, if you even read these forums)

I contacted Sony and here is what they said:

"Thank you for contacting Sony Network Entertainment International (SNEI). My name is Shad, and I can definitely assist you today. I understand that you are unable to participate in multi-player weekends for Mass Effect 3, and I sincerely apologize for any frustration this has caused you.

Unfortunately, I do not have any information about this issue. Because this is a decision made by Mass Effect 3's publisher, Electronic Arts, you will need to contact them for more information. I have included their contact info below:

• Phone- (650) 628-1001
• Online- www.ea.com"

I then contacted EA and here is what they said:

"Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts.

I appreciate your interest in EA games. I assure you my continual support in resolving this issue.

Having reviewed your email, please note that this is a known issue and Bioware is currently looking into it to resolve this issue.

In case you have any questions regarding this issue, please feel free to contact us again."

So for all of you guys who keep saying this is an issue with the physical PS3 system or with Sony, sorry but it's not. This is an issue with EA and Bioware, something that was easily avoidable if they honestly cared. (which they obviously don't) So take note PS3 users, you may want to start buying Bioware games exclusively on your PC's. Wish I would have know that they were going to screw us over before I purchased the game.....

You are aware I hope that it does not have to be an issue that is solveable by bioware/EA right? You do know that this could be an issue with Sony and that Bioware and EA are currently talking to sony to find an solution to the problem?

it is really black and white though to say that its bioware/EA fault because one group says the issue is known.

Operation Goliath
Citadel Allied Command is mounting a galaxy-wide operation to cripple the Reapers’ shock troops: the turian-krogan hybrids known as “brutes.” To flush out Reaper ground forces, N7 teams are deploying to engage the enemy in key theaters. Heavy reinforcements are expected anywhere fighting begins.

Community Goal: Inflict heavy casualties on Reaper “brutes” on March 16th, 17th, and 18th.

Community Unlock: If this goal is met, all N7 squads will be awarded a Victory Pack that can be unlocked the following week.

Squad Goal: Successful extraction from a Reaper-held zone at a Silver threat level or higher.

Squad Unlock: Your squad will be granted a Commendation Pack.

Your allies are counting on you. Now is not the time to let them down.

Welcome to the first N7 Challenge weekend!

Join your friends on line between 5 PM PST Friday, March 16 and 5 AM PST Monday, March 18, and take the fight to the Reapers like never before.

  • Any player who is part of a squad that beats the Reaper faction on Silver difficulty or better will unlock one Commendation Pack.  This means that at least one member of the squad must be extracted at the end of the mission – this will earn all squad members the reward. Each player can earn a maximum of one pack, and each pack contains a random N7 Arsenal Weapon. Originally only available as single-player weapons via the N7 Collector’s Edition, these multiplayer variants will be exceptionally rare and are NOT obtainable through regular purchasable Reinforcement Packs.   The Commendation Packs will contain one of the following guns at random: N7 Crusader Shotgun, N7 Eagle Pistol, N7 Hurricane SMG, and N7 Valiant Sniper Rifle.
  • Destroy as many brutes as possible – if the multiplayer community kills a combined 1 MILLION brutes within the hours of the challenge, ALL players will receive a Victory Pack as a reward.
PLEASE NOTE THAT REWARDS WILL UNLOCK ON TUESDAY, MARCH 20 @ 5 PM PST. YOU MUST REDEEM (OPEN) YOUR PACKS IN THE MULTIPLAYER STORE MENU WITHIN 7 DAYS, AT WHICH POINT THE PACKS WILL EXPIRE AND CANNOT BE RESTORED.

THIS CHALLENGE IS ONLY IN EFFECT ON XBOX 360 AND PC. UNFORTUNATELY, DUE TO TECHNICAL LIMITATIONS, WE ARE UNABLE TO EXTEND THIS PROGRAM TO THE PLAYSTATION 3 PLATFORM.

N7 CHALLENGE - FAQ

How do I participate in the N7 Challenge Weekend “Operation: Goliath”:
To participate, you will need to:
  •  Ensure you have access to Mass Effect 3 multiplayer and can play matches
  • Progress tracking and unlocks are only possible if you have data tracking enabled. To verify this, in the game go to: Options -> Online -> Upload Gameplay Feedback, and make sure it is “ON”.  If this is set to “OFF” your completion and/or contribution to the challenges will not be tracked and you will not receive any unlocks.
When will I receive the unlockable packs, and do I need to input a code to get them?
Unlocks will be granted at 5PM PST, Tuesday March 20.  No codes are required, you will automatically receive your packs in the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer Store.

What is in the Commendation and Victory Packs? Can I choose my unlocks?
The Commendation Pack and Victory Packs contain a number of upgrades and consumables for use in ME3 multiplayer. The Commendation Packs will contain one of the following guns at random: N7 Crusader Shotgun, N7 Eagle Pistol, N7 Hurricane SMG, and N7 Valiant Sniper Rifle.  This unlock cannot be swapped or changed.

I failed to get extracted in a Silver match versus the Reaper faction, but my squad mate was extracted. Will I still receive a Commendation Pack?
Yes.

Is a full squad of 4 required to unlock the Commendation Pack by beating Reaper Faction on Silver?

No – but it is recommended to improve your chances! As long as one person makes it out alive (extraction) all members of the squad will get a Commendation Pack when they are unlocked on Tuesday.

How will the community know if it has killed 1 Million brutes by Monday 5 am PST?
We will announce the results on our facebook page, twitter and forum sometime on Monday.

Do I have to play multiplayer during the challenge to get the Victory Pack unlock?
No – if the community kills 1 Million brutes within the challenge period, ALL players will receive the Victory Pack. However, your contribution to the kill count would be greatly appreciated!

I think I should have received a Commendation Pack and/or a Victory Pack but did not. What should I do?

You should verify the following:
  • You were logged in with the correct Origin ID (linked to your Xbox Gamertag or PSN ID if you are playing on a console)
  • Verify you have data tracking enabled per the first question in this FAQ: in the game, go to Options -> Online -> Upload Gameplay Feedback, and make sure it is “ON”.  If it was “OFF” during the challenge period, you will not be able to receive the unlocks.
  • [b]Please note that you must redeem (open) the packs within 7 days of receiving them. They will disappear from your multiplayer Store menu after that and you will not be able to have them restored. Don’t delay in obtaining/redeeming your packs.

Im more inclined to think its Sony. They have never been that big on these things.

Nice event. I hope we'll see more like this.

But no event of this world (not even something really weird in the playboy mansion) could make me forget, how dissappointed I was after finishing the story of ME3!

totally blowing off any feedback in regards to the ps3 issue and guess ps3 gamers money is second rate, maybe 3rd.. well its a sad truth that sales and pre-order sales were on par w/ p.c and xbox, but not on par as far as what we get in return, well a simple script of a half dozen words in response to our inquires would be respectable..but anyways im happy i got this for my ps3, it will have a trade in value, and will stick to my guns about my beliefs on this being one of many reasons gamers will forever be @ odds with each, all because of the platform of choice a bit of fanboyism and a lot of pimping dlc's to what ever console the companies decides may have early or in this case no entitlements. let me guess, its sony's fault, the "complexity of the programming etc to blue ray platform, its 2012 and theres no excuse for this. funny how i feel less than when i play battlefield 3 as far as exclusives using my p.c. but when theres a give and take, the matches are bigger, better as well as graphics obviously but in this case i bought the collectors edition , glitches galore and now im getting news that we were left out of what i think is a good distraction from the overall opinion on the "SUBJECT" well we all should have something to take our minds in a different direction in regards to the game, not just mass 3 p.c./xbox.. not to mention that i got screwed out of credits i earned and items i used the credits for, just like many have.. its one thing to give feedback and its another thing to just dismiss ps3 owners as if our thoughts are transparent , well to everyone else enjoy this weekend, hope you get some cool stuff, or at the least stuff to replace what you may have lost.. and to all who are not in agreement w/ my thoughts well i paid to have my own expressions , paid just as much as you.. the collectors edition shouldve come w/ a waiver, maybe then i wouldve considered getting it for p.c. but this is unacceptable. and this message wont last 10 mins on the board, well just wanted 2 support other ps3 users as well as gamers in general, been around forever, and things never cease to amaze me, well the best bioware will do is maybe say "well we have plans to do more events in the future , including ps3" well nobody likes to feel the lack of "being a part of" especially when we paid the same amount of money..
Edit; btw, in any event i enjoyed mass effect 3, very much so and its my goty as of right now, so i can seperate my personal feelngs in regards to this stunt and the game itself.. so just happy i got to play the campaign. take part in bioware boston launch etc.. thats all i got, take care people..

Someone make a thread about this, it's unfair that Operation: Goliath won't be open for tonnes of fans, but what I think is more important is for PS3 players to get the next Operation: Missions and so forth.

Oh, and before anyone blames Sony for this, keep in mind that multiplayer events aren't anything new for PS3 (for instance, Uncharted 2, for a long ass time did events like special enemy variants and 1 gun/map sprees consistantly for 6 months)

*lol* Sony is kicking the bucket.. and you fall for it. .. No way they would admit it is their fault. And I can promise you that the answer you got is a copy and paste one.

You can read through it with the "reassurance" and "dropping the ball" takes. Really, let it go. I am sure BioWare tries all they can to make Sony co-operate.

I'm sure you realize that your example of Uncharted 2 is a Sony exclusive so of course they'd not have any problems for events on ps3.
