Lol @ people that think this is damage control. I guess we gotta follow a new rule
everytime a game does something we don't like, and then ends up having an event, that event is obviously damage control! Although there is a few RARE exceptions that this is the case, but this event just isn't one of them sorry haters. And FYI this event is the FIRST event of more to come it even states it notice the "Welcome to the first N7 challenge weekend"? Keyword being first. It's not just a one time damage control thing. It's something that is just part of the game like every other game that has random events. And on a final note I love the game, ending included.

I am kind of sad to see that multiplayer needs a special event so soon. With other games special events are a way to get players back in as numbers start to drop. I would hate to think that two weeks in and bioware / EA feels that a gimmick is needed to boost player count.

First week of cod3 they had a community play date. A month after halo reach another play date deal thing to unlock the rest of the ranks...
Your logic is flawed as other games have done this very very often.

no, it was mostly just me. i'll admit, the way i phrased that was a bit douchey.  but i'll be sure to have plenty of fun fighting cerberus and geth (especially as my quarian infiltrator!) throughout the weekend, or just start another playthrough of the campaign.

i love fighting brutes, but i don't really need the rewards. i already tried all of the N7 weapons in the campaign and the only ones i really cared for were the Valiant and the Hurricane, and i already have the Black Widow and the Locust. so, if i see reason to not do something that i really don't have to, then i think it just makes sense that i probably wouldn't be doing this anyways.

You say that as if you know what the 1 million kills reward will be. I doubt it'd be all the N7 weapons unless I missed an official post saying thats what it is. As far as I know the only N7 weapon reward is via the winning 1 silver match vs reapers not the 1 million brute kills.

I have not completed SP, I've read a lot of trash talk about the endings, even passed on the news of this trash talk, but that isn't stopping me from playing SP. Whether newgame+ has better endings or not, as was hinted by some, I can't say, but that's not gonna stop me from playing a series I have rather enjoyed for about 3 months, give or take.

Do I want Tali to just use Garrus for his body? No. I want her to use my Shepard for his body. lol, Kirking it up across the galaxy! Sorry, just taking a small break from bruteslaying now that I FINALLY unlocked the quarian infiltrator.

Mock it how you like, but I don't get a lot of free time. If there is this much outrage out of it, I for one will pass on the game and make better use of my time. That decision cost EA at least $200 from me because I get all the DLC and I have a Xbox 360 story and PC story. 

So I guess, their line holding is working for something.

Well, I didn't mind the endings. It put the Shepard Trilogy to rest, and that's all I wanted out of the game. Everything, including the single player is very fun as well. It's just when people second-guess or nitpick at everything BioWare does, when they're trying to bring a challenge in for the community on MP, people hate it.

And I hate the atmosphere this community is giving me! 

When a long anticipated movie or book has an ending nobody likes, is that also reason to cause a rukus? When another multiplayer game comes out with an early challenge for the community, is that also called 'a desperate grab for attention'? No, and no!

So how about we all make like Snoop-Dogg, drop the hatred for the endings/MP community decisions like they're hot, and let's play some mother****ing Mass Effect.

That's ok. It's a little less than a drop in the bucket. A lot of the "line hold the" is not really helping. Well I should not say a lot but quite a bit of it is not helping ether side.

I am just sick of all the haters! Its a great game. The ending was a great ending to Shepards life! I will be getting all DLC. I will be getting al Mass Effect games in the future if they bring out more!

PS I do have all games for Mass Effect! Bioware you can have my money!

This challenge sounds like fun, and the reward seems pretty cool.... now if I can just get lucky enough to get the N7 Valiant for my asari character. Either that or the shotgun for my krogan (which is a much more fun character to play than I anticipated). We'll see.

I honestly wasn't expecting to like the MP addition, but this is one time that I'm happy to have been wrong. I've had a lot of fun with it so far, and I do like that it can enhance the SP experience. Nicely done, Bioware.

Not sure how this is a smokescreen, I've been playing games since Duck Hunt and while "challenge" events are relatively new they're very common with multiplayer focused games, so what's the big deal? Anyway, I'm under the impression only one pack PER PLAYER can be unlocked rather than per character? If so I did my part!

You know what they always say about disatisfied customers. I think it's something like 1 happy customer is likely to tell 10 of their friends. If they are unhappy, they are likely to do something like 5x that. My $200+ may be chump change to them, but I can tell you I already influenced 6 teenage family members at a birthday today that are all advid gamers looking to get into the series by showing them all this mess. They will tell their gaming buddies and so on. Not to mention, as Mass Effect was near and dear to me, this will likely be the last Bioware game I will buy for a long while, unless it's something sickengly bad***, which compared to Mass Effect is unlikely. Who knows how many extra $60's to $120 for multiplatforms that is down the road, plus DLC. 

It adds up good sir, and after a 2 hour convo about this today with the cousins, they are feeling the same way. Now they are off to infect others .
