Yea....because constant articles about how massive amounts of dedicated fans are outraged help a company a lot. Or that the group in protest of the company has donated $54,000 to Childs Play, a foundation for helping sick and dying kids? How many times have you heard mass outrage about a product and immediately wanted to go out and buy it? If you have, it makes sense why you think it's good PR.
It wouldn't be getting constant damage control PR announcements from Bioware staff if it was great for them.

The "knocked out" seconds still count you as alive when the countdown ends.
