Chances are really low that there's an idea in a game, movie or book that's not been used before, one way or another.

The Crucible reminded me of Doctor Who, simply because of it's name.
While we're at it, the Catalyst reminded me, in parts, of Davros and his reality bomb.
Utilizing the Mass Relays to destroy the reapers reminded me of Stargate SG1.
etc. pp.

I don't have a problem with this as long as it isn't as badly executed as it was in ME3. That amount of lazyness is not what we'd expect from Bioware.
