When I first read about him I was like:
"Im glad that guy is only in the novels".

When I heard he would be ingame I was like:
"Well... maybe they can get him to work".

When I had played the game and thought back on him I was like:
"That guy is everything thats ****ing wrong with westerners and their cultural-imperilistic inane daytime anime bull****e impressions of the far east".

Kasumi was enough. She barely worked. Kai Lang was crammed inthere like sticking a carrot in a chocolate cake.

Kai Ling was a badass. I gave him the only death a badass deserved. A death avenging my brother that he killed.

But he was a badass through and through. A dead badass now.

Major p*ssy.

Fight 1: A dying drell keeps up with him, and he only escapes Shepard through things like having a dozen other Phantoms around to keep him safe.

Fight 2: He walks in, I shoot him, a couple seconds later this utter child is summoning a GUNSHIP to protect him while he recharges. And you know what? Even while the gunship was shooting I was headshotting him--but of course he's invincible during that time.

Fight 3: Easiest one of all, even though first fight pretty much wasn't one. I play on Normal and Bronze in MP, and he was a breeze. I could stand out in the open and snipe away, with no trouble.

In every fight, he was calling other people to help him. Pitiful.

I wasn't crazy about him either, but I guess Bioware figured they needed token Japanese ninja guy to really make the characters as culturally diverse as possible.

He served the purpose of making me even more aware of Thane being a total bad ass. I knew he was a bad ass from ME2 and all, but I always watched him and thought "That's impressive, but my Shep could probably hold his own against him, being an N7 and all". Then after reading about Kai Leng in the ME books and seeing all the crazy stuff he did in ME3, he was built up to be a pretty epic combatant. Like I'm not sure Shep could take him without a really big gun.

And then Thane showed up. Even sick, dying Thane laid the beat down of the century on one of the most bad ass assassins in the ME universe. That didn't make me think less of Kai Leng, that made me think more of Thane. Like holy hell, Thane is intense. He can throw down like it's go time all the time. So.. Go Thane man. Seriously. If I had known he was that bad ass earlier I would never have left home without him.

Because a novel had Kai Leng eating cereal as a sign of bad-assery in one of the novels. Too much fail to go into. Im sure someone will gladly provide you with one of the many satiric cartoons made about it.

He was a fine villain. Not great or particularly original, but he worked for the story. He caused problems and brought out some badass moments.

only complaint i have is there wasnt more of him

id pay 10 bucks to get some extra kai leng  and some form of epic fight with him one on one similar to shadow broker and more harder than the 2nd time you fight him

if they can do it for dlc id buy it

He was weak, pathetic, retarded, annoying and looked and fought like an anime reject. My femshep kind of wanted his hair though, very feminine like a cheerleader XD

I loved how much I hated him though.
But it annoyed me when I fought him, because I had his shields down in seconds and there was no way I wouldn't have killed him if he didn't have plot armor.

Can I just chime in and say that BioWare did an excellent job of creating a villain that could be so universally hated?

I mean think about... isn't that really the point?

Too bad he was clunky as hell with that sword...he had cybernetic implants, he should have moved faster than a phantom...

I agree with everyone who suggests he looked stupid/was extremely obnoxious. But as others have suggested, I think that is also what made him a great villain.

Out of all the bad guys in the Mass Effect games Kai Ling was the only one I felt zero empathy for.

Saren was trying to save galactic civilization through appeasement, TIM was trying to move humanity forward and save it at the same time, the geth were being misled with promises of paradise (and later salvation), Matriarch Benezia underestimated Saren and was corrupted. Even the Reapers turned out to be operating under some altruistic intentions (however idiotic and misguided their reasoning might have been).

So at the end of the trilogy who is the one major villain who comes across as a 100% jerk?

It’s the out of place cyber-ninja who has to call in an air strike to beat you, then declares himself the greatest as he runs away while he tries to the cover up the wet spot forming on his ninja suit.

Thank you, Kai Ling. I’ll dance fully clothed on your grave any day.^_^

I considered him a joke ever since the only thing that prevented him from being a one-hit kill was his plot armor.

Epic Fails Inc. employee of the month

kai Leng is awful. Not just cause he killed my poor Thane, but because he is very annoying and has a very stupid hairstyle.

i thought he was lame.

i expected alot more from someone already established in the novels.

i didnt want to kill him because he was working with TIM, i wanted to kill him cuz i thought he was a douche. hes more of a douche then conrad vernor. i would never kill conrad. leng on the other hand, totally Dbag.

was he written differently in the novels? in game hes almost insignificant. other then his immunie to everything battle pose ofcorse.

Kai Leng gave me the "Oh god, this guy has so got to die" feeling.

So I think Bioware succeeded.
