Same for Thane and his sickness.
But Legion maybe? Or he always sacrifice for his geth?
I know rest members can be saved.

1. Have Captain Kirrahe alive.
2. Don't talk to Thane before the coup happens. Just avoid him.

Thane: Don't talk to him before Cerberus Attack, Kirrahe is still alive.
Legion: Nope, he's screwed.

Thane and Legion die regardless. I know you can technically save Thane by not talking to him, but thats more of a "I don't know so I assume hes alive" kind of thing.

He's NOT affective. He just doesn't show up to save the Salarian, he just dies slowly of his disease instead of doing one final act of good.
Saving Mordin is hardly "good". With Wreave in charge, Eve dead, and no cure. The Krogan will THINK they are cured and with nothing to guide them towards a more peaceful life, will just end up pushing themselves into extinction even faster.

Thane's death was worth seeing. Oh, so many tears were shed.
Poor Legion! I was so sad to see that there was no way to save him. Love how he referenced to himself as 'I' in the end. *TEARS* Wish Shepard had like saluted him or something. They just sorta walked away from him at that point. lol
All in all, the character deaths were beautifully done. I always make my friends laugh when I say I was so happy over their deaths. It's not cause they're dead, it's cause I was so enthralled with the characters, and the wonderful writing and acting put into them that made me cry. Character deaths are inevitable, and shouldn't be ignored (as they add so much depth to story telling), but when written well like they were in the ME series I can't be disappointed over them being gone.
They shall live on in our hearts.
R.I.P Mordin, Thane, and Legion (only characters who died in my play through)

The only way you can save them is not to play ME3. :| Dumb, I know, but that's just well, the only possible solution.
Same way you can save botrh Kaidan and Ashley by not playing ME1, huh?
