Given his attitude towards women warriors and his terse answers, I was just wondering - almost finished with my good guy and about to play a woman character - anyone have any success - or would Shale be easier?(lol)

Despite his initial reluctance and inability to see you as a woman and a warrior, he eventually comes to respect you as a leader.

Not possible. I think there's some sarcastic point where he insults you and you can say "Are you flirting with me?" and he says to stop making words up. That's as close as you can get to even teasing Sten on the subject. No romance option.

Um, Sten cannot be romanced, as far as I know. If you even ask him if he is flirting, he has no idea what it is and you take a negative hit to your relationship with Sten. Maybe this could be changed via mods. I don't know. Frankly I don't like Sten much anyhow. He's too condescending--both to your character personally, and to women. I hear he doesn't like mages much either. He also wants to conquer your country even if you happen to make good friends with him.  Even if he respects you personally as a leader, I don't think he ever really changes his opinions about women, mages, or your country.

As for Shale... She's a rock golem; I have no idea why you'd even want to. Without mods, I am sure that it is not possible.

If what Sten tells Morrigan is true, you wouldn't enjoy Qunari mating habits. Or even survive them.

Sten is simply being qunari. They are very different with their honor code, religion et al.



But he mellows a bit if you bribe him and especially do his personal quest. He will get over you being a woman and when you talk about the qunari conquering Ferelden he says that he hopes you won't meet on the battlefield. That's his way of saying that he likes you.



He also likes cookies and has some nice conversations with Dog and Morrigan.

At the end of one of my playthroughs I asked him if he wanted company on his trip back home, he said he would welcome my company, that his ship left in two days and he would see me then, and if I wasn't there he wished me well. That's about as close to romantic as think he could possibly get. LOL

My reference to Shale was a joke - indicating that it would be impossible but even so easier than to romance Sten - hence the lol.  would have mentioned the dog but that's just sick.
