Got ninjamanced my Traynor.

You can't get ninjamanced by her. Even if you offer her a shower, you still have to click "Join her" or "don't go in". It's not like ME1 where you can start a romance just by being nice haha^_^

And if so, why?

Not trolling, seriously interested.

I 'romanced' Traynor and then reloaded.

I'd say so I could have my cake and eat it too.

You clicked 'join her in the shower.' That's not a ninjamance.

I really liked Sam but there was just so little content there that she wasn't worth dropping Liara for. She was great though. Loved her VA.

One of my malesheps, if he can find it in him to come out of the closet.

And, get over the hurdle that is Liara. He romanced her in his sexual confusion.

I romanced Cortez on my first playthrough. I haven't finished the game, but so far I really like his romance. As for why I romanced him, I was going to start with Kaidan but it sounds like his has more content, so I figured I'd do Cortez's first. Unfortunately, doing my Kaidan playthrough isn't going to be easy now, because I really like Cortez. XD

I also plan to romance Traynor. Maybe with my Thane!Shepard. I'm disappointed to hear about the lack on content for her, though. Is it true you can't have both the chess and shower scenes with a fem!Shep? Because she doesn't really have a lot of scenes as it is. It would make sense to give a fem!Shep both, or at least start a romance through the chess scene, too.

Aaaaaaah I actually had such a hard time deciding between Kaidan and Cortez. Honestly, without those hospital scenes I would've gone with Cortez...but Kaidan got me early. Cortez' romance arc was really well done though, I can't decide if my renegade manshep should go with him or stay with Jack...

I made a save before i went to the citadel to meet my crew. (Kaidan in the Café, Cortez in purgatory, Liara at that lovely view of the car park, etc.)

When talking to Cortez on the Normandy, I sympathized with his story and thought... 'I will have to romance this lost soul at some point'. So like i said i created a save, romanced Kaidan and completed the game. Then reloaded the save and went all guns a blazing for Cortez...
...
...
So not worth it.

With the Kaidan romance... it was great... it had feeling and the character expressions and the dialog was pretty deep. It could have done with a lot more dialog opportunities, Like how Liara and Garrus (heck, even Joker and EDI) have cut-scene conversations after every other mission or so, But Kaidan, (And I'm assuming Ashley) doesn't really get any any airtime after the Citadel Café meet up. You kinda have to take their word for it and use those ambient conversations as a hint that they are actually getting jiggy with it off screen. Which is fine, but still... more cut-scene convos would have been better. if only to build the feel and atmosphere of their relationship developing... instead it's a long stretch until the paramour scene towards the end... that was, as i said deep...

But Cortez was... kinda lacking. True the character hasn't been as developed as Kaidan, But it was really lacking... the pep talk after the dream sequence seemed a bit bland and unfortunately uninspiring... Kaidan however nailed it... (Excuse the pun!)... far be it for me to pick favorites among thy trusty crew members... but...

This is also reflected after you get to the FOB... and you can talk to Kaidan for another great heart felt conversation...
In Cortez defence, I think I would censor myself if i was being holographically projected via a nice army chap at a computer terminal... but that fair-well convo just...
It's unfortunate, is what it is... Cortez could have been so much more... I was hoping he was but... i don't think the guy will get anything more than Sheps devoted friendship in my future play-throughs.

What did everyone else think?

Also Vega... he wasn't an option for either gender... I was gutted about that... i mean, great as Kaidan's underwear modelling is... he doesn't have the body of a bouncy castle.

Having said that, after seeing how Vega's character plays out... it felt that he was in a very different place in his life to Shepard... not as much life experience, like he was at the start of his career while Shepard was... a fully fledged civilization savior... or destroyer.... your choice. However, Sam Traynor is a small fish in a violent pond and she can be romanced... hmmm...

So i can see why they didn't make him an option. Unless they did and my Prima guide got it wrong. (Or i read it wrong?) I don't know. But still the game is about the player's choice and their ins and outs and experiences and i think there is a place for a Vega romance in the game. even if only for stress relief for old Shep. M or F.

I "romanced" Traynor. I have a female Shepard who has no romances, and I wanted her to have at least one. With the pickings being slim, Traynor is the best one out of them all. But I'm disappointed with what I've seen of it.

For the life of me, I can't understand why the "romance" hits a sexual note as fast as it does. There's very little build up and what should be the build up is incredibly awesome. Had they played chess first and then moved on to courtship, I would have been incredibly happy. But from what I can tell, it moves from Shepard noticing that Traynor complements EDI on her voice to suggesting the shower when she invites Traynor up. I'm thinking there was very little to no playful banter between the introduction and the shower scene.

If anyone went with the chess game first, can you tell me if you can embark on the romance path afterward?

Well, I had the opportunity to *try* after the chess game, but like I said, friendzoned instantly :D

Really?  I'm going to call it point blank: that is stupid.  Kelly's arc seems to flow better though the whole thing seems clumsy.  Knowing what I know of how that whole thing turned out, I'm actually inclined to believe that Kelly's romance was much better: introuction -> talk about various crew members -> dinner -> more talk -> Kelly offers to feed fish -> cuddle.  Traynor is: Shepard observes -> Shepard complemetns -> Traynor sends email about game (since she never runs into Shepard on the ship at all to talk to Shepard) -> Shepard invites Traynor up -> Traynor talks about Shower -> Shepard is suggestive about Shower -> Traynor talks about "she" being interested -> Shepard joins her in shower and both end up in bed.  There's a way more realistic and unsleazy approach with Kelly and we have the scale itch joke about her.

Yes, you can be suggestive during the introduction with Kelly, but I remember talking to her about Garrus during one playthrough and I thought that would give me a good reason to approach Kelly in a romantic way.

I have yet to see any developer create a romance arc or romance arcs that actually develop from stranger, to friend, to lover, and beyond.  I'm looking forward to the game that will offer that.

There was something offputting about samantha, didn't know what. Then found out she would have rejected my maleshep anyway (which is hilarious), so all is well.

Need more rejection lines in bioware games. Suicide rates may go up though, being rejected by a video game character is a new low lol.

I almost romanced Steve. Only reason I didn't is because in my first playthrough I was rockin' ovaries, and my second playthrough was with a dudeShep specifically created to get in Kaidan's pants.

I watched his romance on Youtube and it was so sweet. If I ever play a third time, I'm definitely picking him. Traynor was also, unexpectedly, one of my favorite characters. Not favorite enough for sexy shower fun times, but there you go.

Having watched the shower scene on YouTube after turning Traynor down, I find the "Good luck with that" and Traynor's reaction funnier. The look on her face basically says "oh crap, I just made a play for my commanding officer and got shot down".

Good job it was war time or the transfer papers wouldn't have time to dry :)

Considering her commanding officer suggested the shower and said nothing about the door being open while Samantha was showering, I think there'd a file submitted for Shepard on fraternization.  Traynor wouldn't be in any trouble. :)

Yeah, but it'd be the CO filling in the transfer papers :) Who are Alliance Command going to side with? The hero of the citadel or random specialist noncom?

Not really romances are they, more like a quickie sex fling.

Shepard is a sex magnet.

And I now know how to playfully tell interested women why the feelings are not mutual for the next month. Thank you.

EDIT: Totally went for Cortez. My best friend saw the YouTube clip of the sex scene and told me, "Well I'm glad you got to hit that in your video game. Because, I love you, but in real life - that man's outta your league..."

This, so much.

I first went after Traynor, who I found quite sweet (and the accent was hot). However, since I played a male Shep, she friend-zoned me pretty fast, which was quite disappointing. So I next tried to get it on with Vega, who was flirting constantly with me (or so I thought). I had not read any spoilers, so I thought he would be another gay (or bi) LI. Well, turns out he isn't one after all which was quite a shock. So I tried Cortez, which at last worked out. It was okay but not spectacular.

The closest my poor Shep has come to a woman is the kiss from Gianna, she had him hanging, as did Kasumi.....Traynor is intelligent, has a good personality, mature and plays chess (I love chess), she was his last hope in game (fanfic here we come), but not making a pass at her, I don't need him shot down the one and only time he approaches a woman....:(
