Well, there's that. Hard to believe nobody saw this coming. At least the indoctrination hypothesis is off the table. Now I can sleep well again.

But now I'm wondering what kind of stuff they're going to release next.

How can so many people in this thread say that this proves the indoctrination theory false when it specifically says...

And even in November the gameplay team was still experimenting with an endgame sequence where players would suddenly lose control of Shepard's movement and fall under full reaper control. (This sequence was dropped because the gaemplay mechanic proved too troublesome to implement alongside dialogue choices).

They were actively experimenting with how they could implement shepard being indoctrinated. This means it is in the plot and Shepard is indeed indoctrinated!!! The question was just how to implement it. IMO they wanted to trick the player because indoctrination is supposed to be subversive rather than wrench control away. So the player still has control (or the illusion of) of Sheps movement etc. The only question in my mind is whether they have already written the rest of the ending or not.

People are certainly right to be skeptical, but I'm with you.  It seems suspcious.

It's the word "prove" that is important. I am convinced with the indoctrination theory, but fully acknowledge it hasn't been "proved". But likewise there is no way it has been disproved. Proof is a strong word.

The shame is I really was looking so forward to this game. And I really was anticipating Dragon Age 3.

But now...no way I pay for DA3. No way.

Okay. Casey? Mac? You two deserve all of the hate, because the endings are lousy. Both in terms of the narrative perspective and the structure.

Don't do stuff just because you can. Make them go well with the theme of the game. The little Starchild? He has nothing to do with the game itself. He's just there to tell Shepard what he can do.

The Starchild lacks what most people would call...a purpose.

I've seen people write better endings in a matter of minutes, for Christ's sake.

I wonder whether they thought or not that release of this "Final Hours" (final hours of my loyalty to Bioware indeed) will cause this greatest ****storm?

This is almost unbelievable.

How could they even entertain the idea that this would go over well with their fans?

With the endings I felt betrayed and defeated, I've been living in a daze of disbelief for the past 6 days.
Now I'm shaking with anger.

If they wanted to alienate their fans and customers, they are well on their way with this.

What I got out of the OP:

Bioware: Originally, we were thinking of making an ending that gave our fans actual closure and wasn't full of plot holes. But then we though... SCREW THAT THEY'LL BUY IT ANYWAYS! We've got their money regardless so why put in all the effort for an ending that makes sense. Let's just be vague and call it artsy!

So what they are saying is that they don't want my money anymore? Cause if this is how it ends, then I'm done buying bioware products.

Well...this is....something...

Looks like I'm not gonna replay the series after all - at least not for a very long time. No real point it seems.

Sorry Bioware, but I need a break from you. You have good high-quality stuff, but I can't trust you anymore. Hope you understand.

P.S. I will continue to support the Retake Mass Effect movement

Guys, it is indeed still possible for the indoctrination theory, I wouldn't say this supports or negates it really, especially since they were actually talking about and considering having your Shepard get indoctrinated in there.

Not saying I'm inclined to believe or disbelieve the theory but just saying this doesn't really affect it at all.

The question is, are we seeing remnants of the idea or the successful implementation of the idea?

Absolutely no frickin' idea!

It goes without saying that it isn't a successful implementation. Having stupid little scraps of leftover information, assuming that's even what you have got going for the theories, all for people to spin conspiracy theories around is the dumbest ****ing thing they could have ever done.
Even if Bioware comes out and say "Yeah, that sure was what we wanted you to pick up on" we still just have a game with no ****ing ending because a clown or two wanted "lot's of speculation" instead of a satisfying ending with ****ing closure and an actual payoff for the hundreds of hours invested into the trilogy.

It would be successful if they did have DLC planned that addresses the ending.  But I doubt this is the case.  If there is nothing coming up, then it is unsuccessful even if they meant it to be indeed be indoctrination - there would be therefore zero closure left.

On the upside, from now on with all of my projects I will complete 99% of it. Then, when I am asked why it isn't finished I'll just say "Lots of Speculation From Everyone!" Because that is apparently a valid business decision.

Lots of people still in denial with the hold the line thing lol. Eventually youll get to the conclusion that this is the real ending, whenever its terrible or not. The fact is, what ever we say wont change the ending, they wont change the ending, there is no other ending.

The facts are no such thing. It's all on the table at this point, and will remain so until they state otherwise. There are precedents, and there is cause.

Fun fact: Before multiplayer was introduced, the multiplayer team was experimenting on a First person shooter that looks a lot like Halo, which seems to be multiplayer...

Also: Added new photos to the OP

Alright Speculation Time

Who let them go ahead with the launch of this app, just as the rage was beginning to subside? Isn't it the dumbest move ever?.... Or the smartest...

Could it be someone at EA or BW has realized that the rot runs deep and outing the "Final Hours" and the cause of the trouble would help them pop the cyst.

Where's my disk? Two choices, snap it, or trade it in?

Have you ever placed a CD or DVD in a microwave?  Pretty cool.  Keep an eye on it and stop it after about 5 seconds or so.  That's all it takes.  Gives you colorful fireworks...kinda like the fireworks for one of the redundant ME3 endings.

Better than snapping it.
